Paci causes bad teeth?

Does the pacifier affect the direction the babies teeth will grow in?

Paci causes bad teeth?
I used the NUK pacifier with my kids and their teeth are beautiful.

bottles, sippy cups, pacifiers - none of these hurts their teeth.

putting them to bed with milk or juice in a bottle or sippy cup will rot their teeth, tho. only water in them at bedtime, if anything.

and start brushing their teeth everyday as soon as they have even ONE tooth.

as soon as they are old enough, teach them to brush their own teeth, the right way. but always make sure they are brushing good, watch them to be sure.

good luck
Reply:a paci can wear your babies teeth away...my kids have no teeth because of them and sippy cups...skip the sippy cup all together....just let them spill everything everywhere....i told you to quit asking stupid questions mom25 lol
Reply:It may affect the shaping of the palate and yes, to some extent, the position of the teeth.

There are pacifiers that are not so intrusive, ask your babies' dentist.

Yes, you should take your child to the dentist as soon as one or two teeth emerge.

Good question!
Reply:didn't with my lot - but thumb sucking does. Try an orthodontic dummy (pacifier to you); they have a sort of flat shaped teat which is allegedly better for their teet.

More harm is done by not brushing their teeth properly - esp after a milky bedtime drink - and by giving sticky sweet drinks in a baby bottle.
Reply:Hey,

I don't know if pacifiers effect kid's teeth, but Dr. Kim in Wausau may know. He's a great dentist and I highly recommend him if you're in the Wausau area. His website is http://www.wausaudentist.com

Best of Luck!

Bad teeth - genetic or from pregnancy?

I posted a question a little while ago about me having horrible teeth, tons of cavaties. It does seem like it could be genetic. I also have an 18 month old and recently had a miscarriage. Could it be from the pregnancy hormones?

Every one seems to think it could be, but now I'm looking for proof. Does anyone know of any online articles that would address the genetic or pregnancy issue?

I do appreciate the stories, at least I know I'm not alone in this! Thanks for that, but now I want proof. Or at least something I can print off to show my dentist that I'm not a lying fool.

Thanks!

Bad teeth - genetic or from pregnancy?
It could be a combination of both. I have ok teeth, though they are naturally yellowish, which in today's society is considered hideous and unacceptable, so I whiten all the time. I have two sons and one son has excellent teeth, barely any problems at all, and the younger son has had an abscess, cavities, all sorts of problems. They both have good dental hygiene and eat a very similar diet, so I do think some of it is just the luck of the draw.
Reply:Yes your missing calcium in you body your baby took a lot from you and you were preg not too lolng ago thats a lot on your body .Calcium is missing in your body your bones loose what they need and your teeth will get an impact ask a doctor or read up on calcium and pregn.Hope this gives a bit of info.
Reply:My mother always said I got her teeth. I have been to dentists forever but I am wearing a partail or almost top denture and have fillings on what is left of the bottom, since I was 25. . I have had abscesses that have made me look like a prize fighter. My mother said her mothers teeth were bad also. I go for genetic, but of course both my children have almost perfect teeth.

Bad teeth grinding?

any good ways to stop teeth-grinding, other than using a mouthguard? i have a mouthguard but it's annoying having to wear it every night. i wish there were some way to get to the root of the problem so that the grinding would stop instead of just treating the symptoms.

Bad teeth grinding?
If you ever do get to the root of the problem let us all know as it has perplexed many for a long time. Most theories state stress but that is just a theory. Some have thought sub clinical food poisoning such as salmonella but that is still unproven. In the meantime the treatment of choice is mouth guards. The most comfortable and tolerable seem to be the NTI-tss. They are very small and still allow a person to create a good lip seal during sleep. You might try asking your Dentist about it. Good Luck.
Reply:http://www.claridgemouthguards.co.uk/gri...
Reply:Exercise to relieve tension, which is the culprit of tooth-grinding.
Reply:cant wait to see the answers...i have the same problem but i haven't tried the mouthguard.
Reply:It is truly psychological, you apparently are going through a lot of stress right now, start an excercise routine, eat healthy, and get right with God.
Reply:you can lay face bown into your pillow?

sorry im not too sure others than mouth gaurds
Reply:you could ask your dentist for anther option, i use to but i must of out grown it some how
Reply:i have the same problem and i can sumtimes hurt a bit too. but i usually do somethin to get my mind of it.
Reply:I have the same problem and my dentist told me about some jaw relaxing excersises. Tension is the main cause of grinding teeth...also, chewing gum for an hour or two before bed helps me.

Bad teeth in the army?

I have had a fear of the dentist for a while now, and my teeth aren't in top shape. A few cavities, nothing rotting or falling out, but not in the best condition. Will i still be able to pass MEPS and get into the army? Please no stupid comments or joking, I just want a knowledgeable answer to help me out. Thanks in advence

Bad teeth in the army?
You won't have any problems passing meps, and regaurdless of what everyone else says, they won't fix your teeth in basic unless you're a dental cat 4, so you'd have to have some pretty messed up teeth. If they're causing you pain, you can always go to dental sick call and they'll take care of them. You'll probably have to wait untill you get to your first duty station though, and again unless you're a dental cat 4 or worse, no one is going to track you down and tell you to fix your teeth. Thats somthing you have to manage on your own, getting your cleanings done, getting your cavities taken care of ect.
Reply:They will take care of you.
Reply:They may take you, then send you to the Army dentist during basic. I don't think you want to go overseas with teeth that might cause a toothache.
Reply:yes they have army dentists that will take care of your teeth for you. My husband is in the Airforce and he had a cavity not to long ago and they made him go to the dentist on base and get it fixed, but it's paid for by them. You will be fine and good luck.
Reply:oh yes you will

of course they will want you to go to the dentist

brave enough to risk your life in service of our country

You can handle it just pay extra for the gas

I just know you can do it!
Reply:The army will fix your teeth. They have a rating system and you can't get out of basic training without a favorable rating. My son was pushed through dental so he could leave basic. Certain ratings also place you into undeployable status. My son went to the dentist for a toothache and the dentist placed him in an undeployable status. He got orders and decided to stay quiet because he is truly someone to be proud of.....
Reply:Yes, you will be able to pass MEPS.

the military will take care of your dental problems.

take advantage of all of that.. dental , medical, schooling.

Remember to save as much money as you can while your

enlisted.

Good luck. and Thank you.
Reply:oh yes I would not worry they will take care of your teeth by the time you are done with basic you are going to have a smile trust me they love bad teeth that's how all the dental techs and doc's get there training have fun.
Reply:yes , my husband is in the army and when he joined he had and still has quite a few bad places that need work. i would definatley take advantage of the free dental though while your in training and when you get stationed. Good Luck!!!!!
Reply:I knew a guy in basic with some jacked up teeth. I promise you, you're in no worse shape than he was. And, not only will they accept you, any dental problems you have will be fixed by the time you leave basic training, all on the military's dime.
Reply:Yes. They will clean your teeth and such at your first duty station. No big deal, if they aren't in too bad a shape.

However, unless things have changed, they don't fix your teeth in basic training if you are a reservist. I didn't even get a cleaning, just an X-ray. On active duty they took pretty good care of me though.
Reply:They will take you and give you free dental service.

When I was in Basic Training, a guy in my squad received more dental care in two weeks than he received in his life prior to entering the Army.

I found the dentists and dental technicians in the Army to be very competent. It is not the same as going to a high-priced civilian dentist, but you do get quality care.
Reply:The Army will take care of your teeth especially if they deploy you. They don't want anyone over there with tooth problems. You should pass MEPS and they should take care of you teeth and correct the problems.
Reply:They will take good care of you. Just make sure you get a good and HONEST dentist. I work at a dentist office and we had new patients that have come and told us their teeth are in the best of shape but when we get in there and look....they aren't. Have no fears about going to the dentist.....they are fun to talk to and to hang out with. Best of luck to you!!! God bless America and her troops!!

Bad teeth and pregnancy?

I heard many times that's is important to get your teeth checked when pregnant. How can that effect the baby? Is it by swollowing the bacteria? I was just curious that's all... Thanks.

Bad teeth and pregnancy?
What they say is the bacteria in your mouth, can transfer through your blood stream, and cause things like premature birth, and miscarriages, not to mention risks to your health....I don't know of any known cases of miscarriages due to gum disease, but it is a precaution all expected are suppose to be aware of....however it is extremely common to develop gingivitis and teeth problems due to the pregnancy it's self. They recommend that you keep your teeth clean, and visit the dentist at least once during your pregnancy to check for problems..however a lot of women never visit the dentist during there pregnancy, and often neglect there teeth and gums due to focusing on other things, or even morning sickness. It's not something I would sit an panic over, but I would defiantly try to keep up with clean teeth.
Reply:The gun disease gingivitis can cause pre mature birth
Reply:Gum Disease not to mention that if you do not get enough calcium your baby will start taking it from your teeth and bones and you will have irreversible damage to your teeth.
Reply:I just visited the dentist not too long ago, The dentist told me it is vital to keep up good dental hygiene during pregnancy because the increased blood flow can cause your gums too bleed therfore risking you of gum deseases i.e. gingivitis. I know there is more to it than that but its too much to remember as my dentist crams my head with info all the time lol. I would advise you to definitely visit your dentist atleast once during your pregnancy, he/she will be able to answer your questions too :)
Reply:I know that the baby can take alot of calcium from you. I personally broke or chiped at least one tooth per pregnacy because of lack of calcium.

Please help!!!! bad teeth?
Good day!

Is there any government hospital or medical center in your area? I believe those government medical institutions offers dental services at lesser price or even free. They are actually paid by the government to serve the people at the best of their capability for the citizens' welfare and health, so try to see a dentist who is working in a government hospital and get your teeth problem solved.
Reply:Your best bet is to see if there is a dental college near you and have the students work on your teeth for free or next to nothing. We have a dental college here in CA and lots of people go there for their dental work.
Reply:check out the free clinics in your area...they will work out a deal for you...or hook you up to someone who can.
Reply:check out some "affordable dental plans" in your area some are only 15-25 $ a month for the whole household my state isnt far from yours but it may be different there. or there may be somthing through the state that you are eligable for. also try going to the dental colleges in your area and asking them if they will fix your teeth for not alot of money. the colleges might also have resources on where you can get them fixed if they arent able to fix your teeth themselves. good luck! :)

Does anyone here think that "bad teeth" are genetic..reason is ...is because?

I was in the dentist office all the time when I was a young child. My mom and dad tried so hard to keep my teeth in proper order. I had a mouth full of silver crowns on my baby teeth because of cavities etc. I can remember brushing and being made to keep my teeth clean. As an adult, I still have the same problems. I have teeth that have roots as long and big as you can imagine but they decay so fast. The teeth that are filled eventually lose the filling like for instance today..I had to go back to the dentist and get a filling in the front...my front teeth were filled like six years ago. My entire family has had dental problems forever..whats the deal?? am I headed for false teeth?

Does anyone here think that "bad teeth" are genetic..reason is ...is because?
My grandson was 4 when most of his teeth were pulled, his brother was 5, their aged 3 brother has only 1 cavity at the moment. When the 4 yr. old had surgery, the dentist said that it was a combination of genes and the fact that their Mom had bad teeth and probably passed it on to her boys from the usual things Moms everywhere do for their kids. Esp. kissing. If she had known not to feed from her plate, shared glasses, etc., they and she would have been spared so much pain. I also had bad teeth. Also, medications during pregnancy can play a part. So, when people get nosy and ask why, refer them to their dentist. My daughter never gave up the kisses.
Reply:no i dont think its genetic i just think its cuz u probably just eat too much candy or gum or jus ne thing that has too much sugar but dats only wat i think
Reply:I think it's a combination of genetics and the way you care for your teeth. A study has been done that relates tooth decay to heart disease, which has been proven to also be genetic.
Reply:I was told by dentist that more than likely if your parents had bad teeth you will too. Everytime I go in I have something else. My daughter has had five teeth pulled and the rest filled all by the age of 7. I guess this is just one more thing we can blame our parents for.
Reply:yes and my family has that same problem its hereditary and u cant change it
Reply:Yes, I do think that "bad teeth" are genetic because my mother's family all have permanent teeth missing and so does my mother so I have one permenent tooth missing in which I will have to get an implant and my brother has four permenent teeth missing and he has braces to fill in the spaces.
Reply:maby I'm not really sure................................. but i wish u the best of luck.
Reply:I personally believe that bad teeth are genetic. My nieces have really bad teeth like their mom. They always go to the dentist and try to do their best, but I think it's genetic, just like eye sight or just about anything else. I know how you feel though, both of my parents have bad teeth and I'm surffering the reprocussions of it. Of course they never took me to the dentist even though they preached to all the time that i should take care of my teeth. They didn't have the money or any insurance to take me. Just keep going to the dentist and brush you teeth a lot is all I can say. Look for toothpastes that don't contain sugar. I've actually heard some do! If you don't like the way you dentist takes care of things, try someone else. Good luck!
Reply:it is possibly genetic but your surrounding factors are also influences - for example most Japanese people (im not saying ALL) have bad teeth because it is expensive ..so they don't bother fixing their teeth - and it passes down to their next generation,,having bad teeth.

But anyways it is all up to you - you gotta take care of your own teeth.. and prevent the worse. I myself have to do that too cuz i just had a root canal and if i don't take care of that tooth it'll rot n i'll be forced to make fake teeth!!

We just gotta brush our teeth everytime after eating (especially eating sweet stuff) ..

I have bad teeth. tooth decay and gingivitis. no dental insurance. Can tooth decay affect other parts of body?

I have had high blood pressure for the past two years and my teeth may be the problem. Other symptoms may be muscle pains and spasms, constant exhaustion, anxiety, foul taste in mouth after eating, etc. Any help from someone with similar problem would be appreciated.Could this be the root cause? What about chest pains and nervous system effects?

I have bad teeth. tooth decay and gingivitis. no dental insurance. Can tooth decay affect other parts of body?
the bacteria from your mouth(due to tooth decay) can go to any part of your body. remember the nerve in your tooth is connected to many body parts. and yeah it can get into your bloodstream as well and do a whole lot of damage to your body. so try to get it fixed soon.
Reply:Yes, believe it or not it can affect your heart, specifically periodontal disease has been directly correlated with heart disease.
Reply:please see a doctor, dental infections can be the cause or the symptoms of much more serious health problems.
Reply:Yes, your dental health is highly important to your well-being. Flossing, using a pre-rinse as well as mouthwash like Listerine would relieve some of your discomfort, but you need to see a dentist. There are dental plans that you can purchase at little cost. Please research them on the internet. This will prevent other health problems as well as increase your confidence.
Reply:I'm sure it affects the blood stream circulation, because the infection can get easy in blood. I have a similar problem twice and i tried to pull the tooth out my self. The first tooth came out easy, with no pain and i have no more problems now but the second one i couldn't pull it all out cause he broke in half. so my condition has aggravated i have a nasty infection there. The good thing is that the infection is local because of the broken tooth the infection can't get in the blood stream. Maybe it's cheaper to extract your tooth forever by a doctor and not do it your self. I must mention that my ear on the same side with the infected tooth hurts like hell sometimes
Reply:If you have an infection in your mouth and its not treated, of course it will affect the rest of your body! The infection will get into your bloodstream and if not treated it can kill you! It happened to my sister she had an infected tooth pulled, and two weeks later she got pneumonia and died! Go to a free health clinic!!!!!!!!!!!
Reply:i am not a dr. or anything but i do know that it can be very serious for your heart. i have MITRO valve prolapse and when i go to the dentist even for a cleaning i have to take antibiotic's for two days before. i don't know exactly but infection from your teeth can go to your heart if I'm not mistaken. i don't know where you live but you should have some kinda free clinic in your area, if not maybe a dental clinic close by. GOOD LUCK
Reply:if you cant see a dentist:

brush 3 times a day!!!

flosh everyday!!!!

use tongue scrapper everyday!!!

don't eat candy!!!

dont ever go to sleep without brushing!!!!

don't drink soda!!!

don't smoke or drink alcohol ( a lot)!!!

*REALLY* bad teeth - root canal?

Im completely freaked out by dentists. Thinking about it makes me shake im so scared but my 4 front top teeth are half turning grey and have holes... i dont have any pain, swelling or anything like that... how likely is it that i need a root canal? What worries me so much is that the top half of the teeth have gone a light grey... what does that mean? Is this all still fixable or am i going to end up with no teeth? please hlep me im so scared... especially of the dentist!!

*REALLY* bad teeth - root canal?
Nowadays there are a lot of dentists who are qualified in relaxation techniques for people who are not too keen on going to the dentist, the methods they use work well so your best bet is to make an appointment with a dentist who does this, and explain your "fears" to them...they are the only people who can tell you what treatment (if any) that you are going to need..
Reply:Only one that can help is you is a dentist make an apt today.
Reply:Gray teeth is not necessarily the indication of bad teeth. That could be from Tetracycline stains or if you drink or smoke. The holes are another issue. Decay is obviously present and before they turn into root canals or extractions you need to see a dentist. You have yourself on a vicious cycle that you only see a dentist when something hurts and therefore every visit is traumatic. If you visit a dentist more regularly before these teeth get bad you will be doing yourself a favor. I have seen a lot of people in nursing home that can't eat because they have no teeth and their dentures don't fit, therefore their quality of life dwindles because they can't get decent nutrition. I realize you are not to that point, but help yourself now before you end up looking back and wishing you had done better for yourself
Reply:I have been TERRIFIED of dentists my whole life so I have put off going to have work done for the last ten years. (I know that sounds insane) When I finally did go, I needed so much work and I was so afraid...(they told me I needed two root canals in my front teeth a total of 13 fillings and seven teeth pulled, including wisdom teeth) I was so afraid that I canceled the appointments several times. But I finally went yesterday and it was okay. they did a bunch at one time so I wouldn't have to suffer through multiple appointments, which was good. And I am so happy to have a nice smile! I am in some pain from the root canals (they were only done yesterday) but it was totally worth it! plus, this dentist gave me Valium to take before the appointment, so I was totally out of it, plus extra numbing medicine because I was so nervous. They had glasses I could wear to watch TV during the procedure, but I chose to take my MP3, and that really helped calm me, they gave me a warmed blanket, and even aromatherapy so I wouldn't have to smell those "dentisty" smells! I was afraid before, but now, well I'm still afraid, lol. But not as much. I don't know where you live, but If your in the south go to Dr. Cahill, she totally changed the way I feel about dentists!

by the way I should add that I was a card carrying coka cola addict, I just quit about three weeks ago, and I do think that I deeply contributed to the condition of my teeth, but isnt it just the best soda on the face of the planet? Good Luck!!!
Reply:Best is to go to the dentist. It's hard for us to tell you what you need to have done. They are doctors and studied teeth for a decade and have seen it all. They're gonna do the best work possible for your teeth. It's best to have it taken care of soon. If might just be a cavity. Or if it is something else, at least you'll have it fixed before it gets worse. Everyone is scared of the dentist. I didn't go for 5 years and it wasn't as worse as I thought it would be. Then I told myself,"what's the worse that can happen?" I thought of the most absurd things. Like being wheeled off to the ER because my teeth was inoperable to them. Lol! Totally not the case. Now I go every 6 mths and guess what? I'm still terrified before I go, lol. Buck yourself up. Tell yourself to,"get it over with!" Book the appt asap and look at the calendar. In 2 months, so much stuff will go on with your life and the dental appt was just something that you had to do and now you're done. On the day of the appt, make a plan to do something AFTER the dental appt. That way, the day isn't all about the dentist. I planned to have a movie fest after and it made me look forward to that all day. Once you're there, tell them you're nervous. I did. I told anyone who asked how I was. They were very caring and explained everything. And remember, if you don't like the way you treat you, you have the power to walk out but with the new techniques today, you'll prob be surprised at how nice they are. When you're there, take a deep breath and close your eyes. Bring a mp3 player if it helps. Have a ring or bracelet on to play with. Bring a small ball to squeeze if it helps. =)

I've been there and trust me, waiting for it is much worse than when you're there. Make the appt and take the soonest they have. That way, your mind has less time to worry or dread. Good luck!
Reply:Those teeth that are turning gray are no longer living. You should get those treated before they harm the rest of you. I promise you that the dentist can drill a hole in the tooth, clean it out and seal it up with no pain and no anesthetic necessary. You feel a little weird with your mouth open a long time.

He may not want to do it that way in order to take no chances of you feeling any pain.

If you drink a lot of coke, you probably need other work done. Getting it done is just not that bad anymore. Go for an examination. That isn't going to bother you. Getting started a little at a time is a way to overcome fear.

Bad teeth/gums.......help please.?

My whippet has always had an ongoing problem with her teeth which has been treated in the past with extraction and dental clean etc.

Shes too ill/old to risk an aneasthetic now and her gums are bleeding and her teeth look and smell awful. Apart from brushing them, can anyone suggest another way of dealing with the problem.

I much prefer 'natural' remedies but will try any suggestions.

Bad teeth/gums.......help please.?
If she can handle raw meaty bones... lamb is great.

Also, my 10 year old lab had horrid breathe and gum issues. We switched him to a raw diet and he is doing so much better.

I found out in all my research for the raw diet, that raw beef has an enzyme that helps clean teeth. I would start getting Nature's variety frozen raw food beef and mix that with a good kibble with no wheat or soy. That should help out.
Reply:you can get hatchwells dental treats they come in honey and mint flavour, they have fluoride in them ,they can help with dental problems
Reply:i have heard of a vaccine called Porphyromonas that is supposed to help with periodontal disease in canines. It's made by pfiser but so far not many veteranary clinics carry this vaccine
Reply:There are some dog chews on the market that help with your problem

ask at your pet store
Reply:I don't know if this helps, but our dog (whose mum was a cross between a Jack Russell %26amp; a Whippet; father unknown!) is allergic to beef %26amp; rice. I started to brush her teeth with a toothpaste from the vet %26amp; then ...... same problems - alot of teeth out - I then realised that the toothpaste was beef flavoured!! So I switched to the poultry t/paste %26amp; there has been no further problem. We also now give her "Dentastix" (you can buy from most places), which help to clean her teeth. I wonder if this is a weakness in Whippets?
Reply:I can well appreciate your reservations about a general anaesthetic; I have the same worry with my Siamese cat. Ask your vet about a product called CET. This comes in a tube or syringe-type dispenser and it is extremely beneficial in oral problems and general oral health. I cannot remember if CET is for dogs as well as cats but, believe me, it works like a dream by acting on the enzymes in the saliva that cause gum disease, tooth decay etc. Do check this out. Even if it isn't for dogs, there will be a 'canine' version for certain!
Reply:i brush my 2 greys teeth wiv a mix of bicarb of soda, water, and a pinch of salt as they refuse dry food which iv read on a site doesnt actually help keep teeth clean and fresh anyway!!..it said summit like " we eat crackers and our mouths dont feel fresh and clean after so why should a dogs when it has dry" so give the bicarb a go xx
Reply:Willodrgn is right on the money there. Sadly, if ye Dog's teeth are already so shot it may just exascerbate the problem to give the poor creature anything harder to bite than the " Complete Diet " greasy, carcinogenic waste product I strongly suspect ye've been suckered into feeding her all along.

That is not a critisicm. You'd be in a vast majority. When the white coated vultures we're supposed to entrust to help us maintane our Dogs health try to sell us that sh!t from their waiting rooms, it's an easy one to fall for.

Fact is, dry foods cause - amongst other things - periodontal disease in Dogs. That necessitates life long treatment. And I've never known a poor vet or one driving a ford escort. Hear what I'm saying?

When ye get a new Dog, *Please* don't make the same mistake again. Feed it, right from the day it's weaned, on fresh, raw flesh and bones. I'm personally a big advocate of Breast of Lamb. Human grade, straight from my butchers. (Yes; I have been known to nick some and have it for my own dinner! Why not? It's lovely ~ only I cook mine ;-) )

There's a lot of talk, on line, of " BARF " diet for Dogs? My advice is avoid such sites. They make so much more hard work of it all. It's Not hard work and it's not rocket science. Just give ye Dog meat and bones and a little of what ever else ye think it might fancy will likely do it some good too. See what a Dog makes of a raw Brussel Sprout, eg. Ye may well be surprised :-)

More than anything though, care for that Dog however and best ye can. Try to keep her comfortable. And swear to yeself as much as to god; Ye'll Learn from this miserable experiance. Ye won't let it happen again. Next time ye'll get it right.

I wish ye both luck.

Bad teeth help?

overbite, stained, one crooked tooth, horrible breath, and my gums bleed when I brush my teeth

Bad teeth help?
I would recommend Crest Pro Health, for the staining plus it will help with control of plaque that is leading to your gums bleeding and the breath problems. Flossing and Antiseptic mouth wash will help with bleeding and breath too. Your gums will stop bleeding once you have been flossing for a week or so.
Reply:get braces and listerine
Reply:o yea just go see an orthodontist
Reply:i guess braces, teeth whitening, and maybe meds for the bleeding gums and bad breath..Good luck
Reply:For your overbite, chew radishes and salami twice a week. For bleeding gums, heal them by making them stronger, by chewing rocks. Eating plenty of tuna/garlic will clear your breath problem in an instant.
Reply:Dentist.
Reply:try using a toothpaste that contains fluoride. It will help strengthen your teeth. Also eat apples, they will help to whiten your teeth.
Reply:Definitely go to the dentist, since you could develop some serious consecuences to your health.
Reply:Braces to fix the overbite and crooked tooth. Whitening strips for the stains. You probably have gingivitis if they bleed when you brush them so you need to keep brushing them and floss to toughen them up. You should use mouth wash for that bad breath and you might not be brushing well enough. Be sure to brush way in the back and your tongue. Always keep mints or gum with you too.
Reply:braces, you have gingivitis, brush your teeth at LEAST twice a day, floss , gargle with listerine and see a dentist/orthodontist
Reply:Yuck. You need more than a dentist!
Reply:You defiantly need to see an dentist.

Get braces, zoom whitening, brush teeth/tongue, drink lots of water (this will help with breath too), swish something like Listerine around and the bleeding could be because you aren't flossing or you may have periodontal disease or gingivitis....you should go and see a dentist/orthodontist soon.

Good luck.
Reply:Get to a dentist. Your bleeding gums sound like gingivitis. Some diseases of the mouth can cause death if left untreated. You need to get an evaluation to make sure you don't have any problems.
Reply:Im sure a dentist would love to get ahold of that....Make an appt and good luck!
Reply:umm ... eww?
Reply:Your gums are bleeding because you're not flossing enough. Floss once a day, they will bleed at first, but after awhile that should go away. Crest Pro Health is an excellent rinse. It also has flouride in it to help prevent cavities. Listerine could actually irritate them more because of the high alcohol content. Brushing your toungue or getting a toungue scraper will help with bad breath. Also, chewing gum that contains Xylotol, it kills the odor causing bacteria that are eating the sugar %26amp; food particles in your mouth. You should also go to a dentist %26amp; get a full routine exam, x-rays %26amp; cleaning regularly. As for the crooked tooth %26amp; an overbite, your dentis can refer you to an orthodontist (braces doctor) to correct that.

Help bad teeth and very embarressed!?

I have never done any drugs but I have about four missing teeth, luckily they are toward the back. I don't dare to go to a dentist cause I'm so embarressed it looks horrible inside my mouth. where the teeth are missing the spots have gone black. my teeth are always chipping and cracking. no drugs, and I always brush and take care of my mouth???

Help bad teeth and very embarressed!?
it is not your fault. go to the dentist. he is there to correct things. you may be embarassed with friends.. but y dentist
Reply:go to a dentist they can help you
Reply:Go to dentist's asap!!! Dentists never make you embarassed, believe me.

You will suffer from toothache, which is terrible and wat is more, your mouth will smell bad.
Reply:It sounds like you have had a very poor diet for an extended period of time. Your body is lacking calcium and probably other vitamins. If you have had kids that is another reasons why your teeth are in bad shape. Every pregnancy takes away something from a woman that they never get back. Try eating healthier, you need to start taking a multi-vitamin everyday and by all means if you have the money go see the dentist I'm sure they have seen worse!!
Reply:you might not eat proper vitamins which keep them healthy,or you have very fragile teeth and need to go to dentist to help you with them... brushing does not always prevent teeth from any cavities...
Reply:Ok, any dentist has seen worse than yours. If you have insurance than get them fixed if you dont then go to a place like western dental where you can make payments. Theres not much thats more important to your appearance than your teeth its one of the first thing people see when they look at you. I had a chipped front tooth and couldnt even get a job untill I fixed it. By fixing yours you will have much more confidence.
Reply:It takes more than just brushing. A professional will clean your teeth better than you can and they can diagnose other problems. Your teeth may be chipping, cracking, etc due to something beyond your control. I know it's embarrassing because I have been in a situation similar to yours (with my wisdom teeth), but it's better if you take care of it now by seeing a dentist. There are dentists that offer "sleep dentistry" where you are under anesthesia for your visit and they can take care of multiple problems in one visit. This type of dentistry is for people who are scared of dentists, embarrassed, etc. You should look into this.
Reply:Hey pal dont worry and dont feel terrified or embarrased, go visit a dentist coz only he can help u . Think of the beautiful smile u can have later on and dreaming about tht gear up urself 2 visit the dentist.
Reply:Dentists have seen a lot worse than your mouth. At least you brush your teeth. I had that problem. Now, all of my top teeth are gone and the bottom goes tomorrow. Now, that is creepy and my dentist isn't upset with me. YOu probably have some type of chemical imbalance or something is definately wrong with your teeth. Please get to dentist now because things will only get worse. If that happens, you will look like me. I will be without teeth for a few mounths and that is extremely embarrassing; beat that one.
Reply:yeah why don't u go to a dentist it's simple
Reply:The others have given you the best opinion. Go to the dentist. In the meantime let me give you a little advice:

1. Do not consume sodas and other drinks laced with sugar.

2. Do not brush your teeth with tooth paste immediately after a meal especially if you have consumed orange juice, and other acidic foods.

3. Floss every night before going to bed.

4. Brush your teeth immediately after flossing.

5. If you can also gargle with alcohol free mouth wash then u should.

6. Do not eat any sweets, especially toffee that stick to your teeth

7. Eat a small piece of cheese at night after all your meals.

8. Go IMMEDIATELY to the DENTIST.

GOOD LUCK!!
Reply:My teethe are not bad at the front but are bad at the back, i too am embaressed but i went eventually he was good but as with all dentists he loved giving me a lecture about teeth but just go! once you've got sorted you will wish you went sooner. good luck
Reply:Don't worry about going to see the dentist... that is the best thing you can do. Trust me... he or she has probably seen MUCH worse!
Reply:The dentist can make you a partial that will fit where your teeth are missing at.

I have bad teeth and am afraid to go to the dentist. Help!!?

I have 2 teeth that have broken because they are decaying and I have numerous cavities that need filled. I’m so scared to go to the dentist because the last one I went to was very rough with my mouth. My gums for the most part seem to be fine but I know I have an abscess in one of the teeth that is broken in the back. The other broken tooth is in the front and I really don’t want it pulled because then I will forever be too embarrassed to smile(I already cover my mouth when I laugh because it embarrasses me soo much). One of my biggest fears is losing my teeth and having to get dentures but yet I’m still so scared to go to the dentist because of the pain. I also have no insurance and can’t even afford the work anyway. What do I do??!!!

Dentures.
Reply:Im not sure but when u find out let me know im the exact same no insurance but horrible teeth..
Reply:Wow there has to be something some doctors do pro bono work, there are charities like operation smile. I think you should look into that but you must go to the dentist

Reply:that sux soo bad. i have bad teeth 2 but i have insurance. i have weak enamel
Reply:please go.My friend is a dentist the more you wait the worse is going to get,Not only that but it will cause bad breath,You dont what that
Reply:suck it up! whats worse, withstanding a few moments of pain or a lifetime of ugly and painful teeth? tell the dentist your fears before hand and he might be esaier on you. ask your friends who they go to.
Reply:Well, the best you can do is try to borrow money from someone like your parents (or other family) if at all possible. Try to see if you have a dental school around you, they do work cheaper but its done by a student, they have a real dentist there though to watch everything they do. Or try going to carecredit.com don't know how good your credit is but this is basically a dental loan. Other than that, I don't really know what to tell you. And by the way, dentures aren't that bad. I had to get dentures just 4 months ago, but it isn't as bad as you would think. It all depends on your mindset. I can eat just about anything right now, except for stuff like apples or corn on the cob. But other than that, I can eat everything, without worrying about breaking another tooth. Good Luck.
Reply:I know exactly how u feel. All of my top teeth were bad. All of the enamal had been worn off of my 4 front teeth and the rest had severe decay. I lived this way for 5 years. I never smiled and i avoided laughing and covered my mouth too.

I had a full upper denture put in last week. I was scared too but i just kept thinking that they couldnt put me through any more pain that I had already been through. I was right.

Getting dental work does hurt. The worst part is ths shot of novocaine. Its not even that bad. Think about something positive while this is happening. After that u will feel pressure and its not as intense as people make it out to be, and u will hear creepy noises but it is normal.

These things will help to calm you before going to the dentist. Make sure u get a good nights sleep. Take 800 mg of ibuprohpen 30 minutes before going. Or if u have any vicodin or any pain killers that were givin to you for your teeth take one of those just to make sure that your teeth dont hurt when u get the shot. go to a dentist who provides laughing gas. This really helped me. Also try to think of something positive instead of thinking that u are scared of the dentist. Like how much better you will feel once its all over.

The first step is making a appointment and getting estimates. Then plan from there. Once u know the total cost it will be easier to figure out how to pay for it. Try to find a dentist that charges about 80 per tooth extraction and provides free gas. I saved alot of money here. Some dentists will try to convince u that u need expensive surgery at 400 a tooth. In some cases they are right but not all. Dentists have told me this but I had all 4 wisdom teeth removed on gas alone. No surgery.

Call the salvation army and social services and places like that. They might know if any assistance exists in your area for dental help. There are also free clinics but im not sure if they provide any gas. Try to see if there is a college nearby that does work for cheap or free. On a personal note though, i hate colleges and free clinics, i tried to take this route a long time ago and the ones i tried to go to u cant even make a appointment, its all first come, first serve. so u could find yourself waiting all day like i did for nothing, just disapointment. If none of these things work just start doing what u can little by little. one or two teeth at a time, they didnt pull all of mine at once he wanted me to heal between extractions. It took me 3 months to get them done. See if they will work with you on payments. Ask them if they have any other finance options through banks. Capital one has a program for that.

If u can save your bottom teeth try to do that. Lower dentures are terrible from what im told. they dont stay where they belong.

I hate to see anyone go through this. not being able to smile, laugh, or even have the guts to speak to someone is horrible. Some people can be cruel about it but dont pay them any mind. It just shows what kind of person they really are inside. Best of luck to you.

p.s. sorry for the long response. some things just are not that simple lol. and the spell checker isnt working either.
Reply:the first thing i would do is make an appt with the dental offices hygienist. she will xray and clean your teeth and that same appointment the dentist will examine your entire mouth. explain to them your financial porblems and see if they can help you come up with a plan where you can get one or two cavities done at a time. many people get overwhelmed when they need alot of work but if you do just a little at a time- sometimes it gets the job done - just takes longer. also, explain to them that your last dentist was rough...they have seen this before and will take good care of you.

How come bad teeth only get worse?

The body is designed to heal itself if you allow it to do so/help it out a bit (i.e.: a broken bone will try to mend %26amp; calcify even if it's not "set" correctly; or, an infected cut in the skin will heal up if you treat the infection and don't irritate the cut; etc.)

How come teeth don't work like this? I have never heard of anyone who suffered from an infected tooth (a cavity, basically) that got better without dental treatment.

How come bad teeth only get worse?
I think God wants us remeber this phrase..... "Eat to liv, dont live to eat."
Reply:they do they fall out
Reply:because your teeth arent really like a part of your body, there are no bones nerves or anything.
Reply:The acids from our foods irritate the protective layers of the tooth. You can have a tooth recalcify if the cavity is not too big.

If we didn't have doctors to take care of our sicknesses we would be dying at the age of 30-35 and the teeth last long enough for that without dentists. But since we live to 80, we have to make the teeth last that long or get dentures.
Reply:Bone can mend because it is completely internal to the body. Inside the body, the bone can be supplied with blood through a pervasive circulatory system, and is a living tissue.

A tooth on the other hand is not internal to the body-- Part of it is exposed to the outside world, and the part that is exposed is not living tissue (the enamel, which has no living cells in it). There is no way for a circulatory system to reach the enamel to repair it because it is outside the body.

Hope this clears things.

BAD TEETH! What's your reaction when you see people with yellow, rotten or unclean teeth (perma-plaque)?

It's nauseating to me, especially people who look like they have a layer of plaque on the upper part of the upper set, where the teeth and gum meet. It looks like severe tarter build up. I call it perma-plaque, although I know it has a medical name, I just can't remember what it is.

I have also seen greenish colored teeth as well. It doesn't matter if it's a man or a woman, it's still nasty to look at.

BAD TEETH! What's your reaction when you see people with yellow, rotten or unclean teeth (perma-plaque)?
Admittedly I can be pretty snobbish about people's teeth. I don't expect them to be perfect, but I don't want to wonder if they've ever been to a dentist. Seriously, who wants to kiss a mouth full of crooked, rotting, plaque-encrusted teeth?

How do dentists determine that a very bad looking teeth can still be saved?

I had a bridge that just fell out and under it my two teeth are very decayed , big holes and ugly looking%26amp;smelling. Both have had root canals previously and have been "worked" out for the bridge. Both look very bad to me and one of them have even an infection with pus , but the dentist said he can treat them with AB and then do a root canal again and a bridge. I rather extract them than come back in a year after paying so much money again for the bridge . He seems very young and I don't know how experienced. What is your opinion?

How do dentists determine that a very bad looking teeth can still be saved?
usually they say what will get them the most money and fixing them brigs in more than puling them and replacing them
Reply:In my opinion, YOU should get a second opinion. While youth isn't necessarily bad, it can mean a lack of experience, a lack of good judgement, or even someone who is just starting out and is just plain GREEDY. In particular, if this was the dentist who did the first root canals, I would make a beeline OUT of his office and find another dentist. While the enamel might have decayed on the remaining portions of the tooth, the pulp and dentin should have been FULLY destroyed during the first root canals; since you have an infection in those teeth, clearly whoever did them missed something major.
Reply:i recently went through a bad experience like you but almost lost my ife when the infection went under my chin.the infection got to the point were i could hardly open mouth, tongue swollen then could hardly breath.had emegency surgery got teeth removed.pull them out he may want the money.

Reply:I would get a second opinion. Couldn't hurt. It's my teeth and money after all. =)

Getting braces/Bad teeth?

Im 17 I have really crooked teeth on my bottom jaw.

My top teeth are more un-alligned. One sticks out in the front, and the teeth behind it allign with it. I guess my main question is- Under which circumstances braces would not work? I have all my teeth, and I have like 9 fillings. Possibly 3 cavities. How long do they take to make your teeth straight also.

Getting braces/Bad teeth?
Braces will not work if there is no space, the dentist will want to remove some teeth. Details at http://aches.in/dentalbraces.html
Reply:between 2 - 4 years. Occasionally 6 months.

Oh no! Bad teeth whitening! help!!!???

I used the aquafresh teeth whitening trays... and after two days... 2 small parts of my gums are PAPER WHITE! like... completely white... and i have little super-white spots on my upper teeth... and on the bottom teeth, the top half is white-white, and then the bottom half (closer 2 my gums) is my natural tooth color.... HELP ME!!! DID I RUIN MY GUMS AND TEETH!!!??? I had my grandma call her doctor and ask about this particular tooth whitening product, and he said it was fine, HELP!!! PLEASE!!!

Oh no! Bad teeth whitening! help!!!???
woah, you need to drink less coffee!
Reply:STOP USING IT! It may be taking the enamel off your teeth. Dont ask your Gma's doc...Go to your dentist.
Reply:Had it been a while since you had had your teeth cleaned by a hygenist at a dental office? If it had been longer than 6 months it may have caused your teeth and gums to become extremely sensitive. But I would follow up with a dentist if I were you to make sure that the teeth have no real damage to them.
Reply:You should call a different dentist and if your t hat concerned and its that bad then make an apppointment. Look online and talk to people there may be a recall on it!
Reply:It sounds like you just irratated your gums. If the doc said it was fine then its fine. (hopefully he was a dentist..if not, call your dentist and ask..they are the only one that can really give you a good answer on this). Dont use that crap anymore..it sounds like you overdid it...or else your gums are very sensitive and cannot take the chemicals that are in that product.
Reply:I have those whitening trays as well. Chill girl! The trays aren't supposed to touch your gums when you lay the trays on your teeth. Within a few days, the whiteness will fade away on your gums. Next time, just be careful! You can continue to use the trays, but try not to let the gel smear on your gums. :)
Reply:You should be fine, the peroxide probably just burned your gum tissue a little. Give it some time and don't do anything that will irritate your gums more. The white spots on your teeth might be de-calcification - soft spots on enamel. As for the bottom half of your teeth either the whitener didn't reach that area or your roots are exposed and appear darker than the top.

What is a good product that whitens your teeth and isn't bad for tooth enamel?

I need some product like maybe mouthwash or something that whitens teeth and isn't bad for your teeth. Something that I can buy at my local Walgreens, Walmart, Jewel, CVS, etc.

Thanks!

What is a good product that whitens your teeth and isn't bad for tooth enamel?
I LOVE Crest Night Effects...I didn't have much luck with the strips. I would just get mad at them and pull them off.

Crest Night Effects is a teeth whitener that works while you sleep, so it fits conveniently into your schedule. You'll have a whiter smile without giving up valuable time during your busy day. The competitive daytime paint-on teeth whitener is water-soluble so it may dissolve quickly. Normal daytime activities such as eating and drinking — even your own saliva — can wash most of the whitener away in as little as five minutes. So while you're waiting for the ordinary daytime whitener to dry, your already-too-busy schedule has just gotten crazier.

Using Crest Night Effects is as easy as getting ready for bed and going to sleep. Just brush your teeth as you normally would.

I saw a difference within days....Its a two week thing just like everything else but within 2 weeks your teeth are so white. People were always asking if I got them bleached...or saying that I had the whitest teeth they had seen.

Here is some information about them from the site...

Crest Night Effects is a teeth whitening system. You'll get a noticeably whiter smile while you sleep over 14 nights.* It even works on tough, everyday stains, including coffee and tobacco. Why is Crest Night Effects so effective at teeth whitening? The secret is our patented LiquidStrip Technology™ coating that stays on your teeth overnight. It whitens teeth at home, while you sleep.

The Color of Your Teeth

When you look at your teeth, the color you see is more than just the color of the surface. Because the top enamel layer is translucent, the color beneath is also visible. And since the things we eat and drink contain coloring agents that actually soak into our teeth, the layer beneath the surface of the enamel becomes stained, too. Juice, coffee, tar and tobacco for those who smoke, all contribute to making your teeth look yellow and dingy.

Teeth Whitening Dilemmas

Teeth whitening toothpastes and products only clean the surface of your teeth and don't have any way to actually whiten the stains below the surface of the enamel. Special whitening systems are available to penetrate the enamel — including paint-on systems. Many of these are water-soluble, though, and mostly dissolve away in as little as five minutes when they come into contact with saliva.

The Crest Night Effects Difference

Crest Night Effects' unique gel forms a LiquidStrip™ coating. The water-resistant coating holds the teeth whitening agent in place, slowly releasing hydrogen peroxide while you sleep. The LiquidStrip coating works to remove stains and loosen stain-causing buildup. In the morning, just brush the LiquidStrip coating and the stains away. After just two nights of using Crest Night Effects, you'll notice a clean, smooth feeling on the surface of your teeth.

How to Use Crest Night Effects

For the best effect, apply Crest Night Effects immediately before going to sleep. Don't forget to review our important tips for maximum benefit.

Do not apply multiple coats of the teeth whitening gel. Reapplication may remove the previous layer.

As you brush it on, you may find that Crest Night Effects does not form a complete or even coating on your teeth. This will not affect the whitening result.

You will know Crest Night Effects is working because you can feel the LiquidStrip coating on your teeth right after you apply until you brush it away in the morning.

You can sip water while wearing Crest Night Effects. We recommend that you do not eat or smoke while Night Effects products are applied to your teeth.

You may find that wiping your teeth with a tissue before brushing in the morning will help prevent the LiquidStrip coating from accumulating on your toothbrush.

Most people find keeping their mouth open for about 30 seconds helps the LiquidStrip coating set.

Good Luck

Is salt and water bad for your teeth ?
I'm not a doctor, but I used to work for a dentist. He never mentioned it being bad for the teeth, but he would always recomend it for patients that had infections in the gums or had a tooth extracted. You can also gargle warm salt water to help heal a sore throat.
Reply:Not to my knowledge. We recommend salt water rinses to patient who have recently had teeth removed for healing purposes.

Is wet dog food bad dogs teeth?

I recently got a Shi Tzu, Yorkie mix. When we got it the breeder said not to feed it wet food. So, it was raised on all natural dry dog food.

We also have two other dogs and feed then wet dog food in the morning, and leave for the two dogs dry dog food so they can eat it when ever. However, the Shi Tzu has been getting in the wet dog food, (looks likes he enjoys it.)

So, we decided that we would look in to getting some all natural wet dog food and mixing it with his dry stuff. However, I also hear that wet dog food is bad for their teeth, is that true, even if it’s all natural dog food?

Please give me what you think, if I should or shouldn't.

Is wet dog food bad dogs teeth?
Im no expert but here's the low down...

Plaque builds up on dogs teeth just as they do on human teeth. Dry food helps clean the dogs teeth as they eat...chewing bones etc also does the same thing. They all help scrape off and keep plaque from forming on the dogs teeth.

If dogs are raised on wet food only then there is no natural means for this plaque to be removed. Hence peoples say that wet food is bad for dogs teeth. It isnt, if you fed your dog wet food and also provided it with something that would naturally help clean its teeth you would be fine.
Reply:yes, wet food is bad. kind of like giving candy to a kid on a morning noon and night basis. if the dog really likes the wet food and will not eat dry, then it would be best to take it to the vet to get a good teeth cleaning every six months, which you should do anyway.

dry food is best, though. if it will continue to eat dry, let the dog eat dry and give it wet food every once in awhile as a treat.
Reply:Yes because it's soggy and it's not the way dogs eat

Really bad teeth, bad pain.?

Okay well, im 16, and i have horrible teeth. I brush them once or twice every day, always atleast once. 3 of my back teeth ( both back teeth on the top and the left on the back) are basically hollow, but the one on the top left is giving me a lot of pain.

The thing about it is, when my tongue goes up and touches it, it really hurts, and when my bottom teeth touch it, it really hurts. I've taken medicine (just like Tylenol and aleve) and it doesn't help. Im not sure if these are my molars? It's my very back teeth.

Really bad teeth, bad pain.?
Like most responders replied, you really need to see a dentist. If you don't have one, it's a good time to get one. Since you're 16, is there a dentist either of your parents use? You're a minor, and unfortunately you'll need one of your paren't signature on the Consent to Treat form so you can be seen.

Tylenol and Aleve won't help if the teeth are abscessed. You need an antibiotic to calm them down. Then you (or your parents, along with the dentist) will need to decide the best treatment plan for you.

Good Luck!

Reply:Sounds like you have developed an abscess. You need to see your dentist, if you have one, and get an antibiotic. Until the infection is gone, there is nothing the dentist can do for you. Your dentist can also prescribe pain medication to help you until he can pull the tooth out. If you dont have a dentist and the pain is severe, then your local emergency room might be the place to go. Most hospitals have a dental department. If this is not an abscess, then you much have a huge cavity that has exposed the nerves and the tooth has to be either fixed (really expensive) or pulled out. Hope this helps.
Reply:Ask the dentist for temporary fillings in the broken teeth. I had one in a painful broken tooth around Christmas time and it really helped ease the pain until I could have the teeth extracted. You could also try some cotton wool soaked in clove oil and stuffed inside the tooth.
Reply:go to DENTIST! it is not gonna get better on its own , JUST worse!!
Reply:You should probably have it pulled out. It could be infected and then the infection could moved on to your gums and your nerves. I would see a dentist as soon as you can!
Reply:You definitely need to go to a dentist, but to hold you until you get there, go to any pharmacy and ask for oil of cloves - it comes in a small bottle, only costs about £2. Soak a tiny ball of cotton wool in it, and use a tooth pick to pack it into the cavity, it acts as an anaesthetic to ease the pain, and it also helps to kill infection. It tastes absolutely disgusting, so try not to get any on your tongue, but it works REALLY well!

I've also heard that wet dog food isn't the best for dogs. They say that the dry dog food is better to help clean their teeth and keep them in good shape.
Reply:Dry dog food is better in general because as they chew, the food helps scrape stuff off of their teeth (like a tooth brush) keeping them healthier longer. Wet food is not necessarily bad, but you'd have to brush or do something else to keep his/her teeth clean.
Reply:it isn't that wet dog food is bad for a dog's teeth it just is not good for them. when a dog bites into a piece of dry dog food it helps to clean the tarter off of his or her teeth, because wet food is soft there is no way for the tarter to be removed. You could probably get away with feeding your dog wet food if you are willing to brush his teeth everyday however, most owners do not realistically do this. Your best bet is to feed your dog dry food and use the wet food as a treat if he seems to enjoy it that much.
Reply:i think small breds of dogs tend to get smelly breath also if they only have wet dog food.

Try giving them raw chicken necks occassionally,it helps to clean their teeth.

Is wet dog food bad dogs teeth?
People mistakenly thing that the breeders are the final authority when it comes to pet foods when in reality most of them know little about pet food labels and ingredients - they are just partial to a specific brand probably because they are getting a discount from that particular brand.

Dry dog food will significantly affect the health of your dog's teeth; if you continue on wet food; expect your dog's teeth to deteriorate and have dental problems.

You can read more information about how dog food affects the teeth on the web.
Reply:no, i have three dogs and the vet suggestion we added a little wet food to their diets, their all fine but we usually get science diet and then spoon mix it with their food.
Reply:this one is best to ask the vet

he should be better to answer you on this
Reply:it is not that it is bad it is that the dry is better.Dry dog helps with the plaque on your dogs teeth. So yes an all wet diet for a dog is not good unless you want to brush your dogs teeth more often. But feeding wet in the morning and dry the rest of the day should not hurt.
Reply:Mixing wet with dry is better than just wet food. All kinds of dog food - wet and dry - can cause plaque and tartar build up on dogs teeth. I find that frozen raw beef bones work GREAT for cleaning teeth. Go to a local butcher, locker plant, or perhaps a grocery store - and buy some raw bones. Feeding just kibble would be best, but occasionally mixing a little bit of wet food in is okay.
Reply:I think it is bad for their teeth. It builds plaque and it is messy and gives them doggy food breath. I feed my puppy Beneful Healthy Growth for Puppies and she loves it. It is healthy and she does not gain weight from it. Small dogs and retrievers should be watched for their weight. My dog is a Golden Retriever and my fiance's parents have mini dacshunds and they gain weight easily. They eat wet food as well as people food and that is why they are fat. My vet said that all retrievers tend to gain weight and have hip problems so they can't eat lots of fat and that includes people food!

Bad teeth formation?
Bad Teeth and Rotten Teeth

A frequent dental complaint that individuals have is that they have bad teeth or rotten teeth. Although this may seem vague, your dentist will immediately understand what you mean when you say that you are suffering from bad teeth. This is because bad teeth or rotten teeth represent tooth decay, which is known within the dental industry as dental caries.

The term caries is a Latin term that can be translated as rot or rotten. Dental caries, or bad teeth, is a destructive dental disease that can result in cavities or holes in the teeth. Mainly afflicting children and young adults, bad teeth is the largest cause of tooth loss in children and adolescents.

Rotten teeth is caused by the interaction of these three factors: specific bacteria found in plaque, sugar, and a susceptible tooth surface. Plaque contains bacteria that produce acid as a by-product of sugar consumption. As sugar is consumed by plaque as energy, it is difficult to avoid sugar consumption. However, rotten teeth occur when the acid produced by bacteria found in plaque clings to a person’s teeth. Over time, this acid begins to eat away at the enamel, which is the outermost layer of the teeth, leading to the development of rotten teeth.

Although rotten teeth can be treated in a number of ways, the best way to combat bad teeth is to prevent it by maintaining proper dental hygiene. Regular personal oral care should be employed, such as proper teeth brushing twice a day and daily flossing. This should be combined with professional care that includes two trips to a dentist for examination and cleaning. Additionally, the use of daily sealants is an excellent preventative measure to bad teeth. Sealants are thin plastic-like coating that is applied to the chewing surfaces of the molars. Sealants can usually be applied to a child’s teeth after their molars have erupted. The benefit of sealants is that they are able to prevent plaque from accumulating in the deep grooves of a user’s mouth. Additionally, fluoride is an excellent way to protect individuals from developing rotten teeth. Dentists highly recommend that individuals use toothpaste that contains a good amount of fluoride regularly to combat bad teeth formation.

If you currently suffer from bad teeth, it is imperative that you visit a dentist to have it fixed. If dental caries continue to exist without being treated then they can reach the tooth’s nerve endings. This will cause great pain. However, a dentist is able to treat bad teeth by removing the rotted part of the tooth with a specialized dental drill. Once this has been removed, the dentist will fill the hole with special material, otherwise known as a filling.

By treating bad teeth or rotten teeth, you will be doing yourself a great favor in terms of oral health care. With excellent dental health, you will have a great smile. This is an excellent trait to have in the world and if you have less than a perfect smile, you may be interested in obtaining a cosmetic dental treatment.

Are sugar-free/diet sodas bad for your teeth?

i have awful teeth. i brush, floss, rinse, you name it... i've just always had cavity-prone teeth. i know sugary foods and beverages are bad for teeth but what about diet sodas with no sugar? i realize there isn't any sugar in sugar-free sodas but they're still all sticky and stuff. thanks!

Are sugar-free/diet sodas bad for your teeth?
I'm the same way too, and i drink waaaay too much diet pepsi, its really just the carbonation in any kind of soda. The carbonation eats away at the enamel, weakening it and causing it to be more at risk for calculas build up, aka plaque. This plaque is what causes cavities. Be extra careful if you see white spots on your teeth, those are calcification spots and are extra weak to cavities. also, dont ever chew sugar gums, thats literally pounding cavities into your teeth. If you grind your teeth also, then that can weaken enamel signifigantly and you'll need to get a night guard.

hope that helps %26lt;3
Reply:soda in general (whether diet or regular) are just plain bad for you. They contain chemicals your body does not need and want. Avoid diet sodas. PKU (Phenalyne) *the sweetner used in diet sodas* causes cancer. So maybe it wont rot your teeth, but it WILL rot your body.. Want a diet drink, drink water..
Reply:Yes, unfortunately, they have carbonic acid which also rots your teeth. Of course, the sugar containing ones are twice as bad.
Reply:Acids that are in carbonated drinks are bad for your teeth. While it's good that you're watching your sugar intake, you need to make sure that the carbonation isn't eating away at your enamel.

Also, just ditch the soda all together. Switch to water, and if you need a sweet drink, stick with vitamin waters with flavor. Or green iced teas without sugar. The anti-oxidants are good for ya.
Reply:We all have some hereditary disease or other characteristics we have to deal with. Teeth are included. Sugar causes more damage than anything, not just soda. I can feel sugar granules from anything sugary, and have to brush my teeth. I have good teeth fortunately. I drink a lot of diet soda, probably too much and have for over 20 years. A best friend, had perfect teeth, and if he wasn't drinking soda, he drank beer. He never had a filling or went to the Dentist at the age of 40.

I would recommend a calcium/vitamin supplement. There is a good way to check this out on WebMd.com

Jones Soda Bad for Teeth?

So I've been thinking since Jones Soda is made with pure Cane Sugar, wouldn't that be really bad on your teeth. Not that all sodas aren't already, but ..... I would think that would just speed up the decay process. Any thoughts?

Jones Soda Bad for Teeth?
I love jones sodas but I do not drink them because of that very thought. I know all sodas are bad but the way it says pure cane sugar on the box just screams out cavities!
Reply:i drink jones and i love them, in fact im drinking one now!!!! i never thought of that though!! i bet it would be bad for our teeth!!! thanks for pointing that out!!
Reply:If you drink it through a straw it will minimize the contact with your teeth, but I don't think it's worse than other sodas.
Reply:Honestly i dont think the sugar is any worse for your teeth. I'm guessing it has the same amount of sugar as other sodas, its just a natural kind, no High Fructose Corn Syrup, Malodextrose, etc.

I reall think everyone would be better off giving up soda entirely. It is so bad in SO many ways. Diabetes in cup!
Reply:I love Jones Soda!yes, i think its would be. the other day i drank the sugar free kind in Black Cherry......UGH...don't try it! :)
Reply:I think all sodas are bad for your teeth, they all have food coloring which can stain your teeth pretty bad.

Corn Nuts: Bad for teeth?

They are really crunchy... do you think they are bad for your teeth... like chewing on ice is?

Corn Nuts: Bad for teeth?
I sure hope not because they are just so good! I know I would eat them anyways :-)
Reply:Yes! the dentist say it can break your teeth because they are to hard.
Reply:Aww...I hope not..I love 'em!
Reply:Dont care i luvs them
Reply:No, they are not bad for the teeth. It is just food. Just make sure that you brush your teeth after eating. Also, be careful of grinding such hard foods since there are sharp portion on its grains that would cut the tongue or the gums. Use OraMD just in case you experience some sort of dental problems.

I have bad & crooked teeth, who do I see first?

Should I see the orthodontist first or the dentist first?

My teeth are in bad condition and they're also crooked, havent seen a dentist in 10years

I thought I'll confront my phobias of dentistry and fix a far greater problem.

I have bad %26amp; crooked teeth, who do I see first?
Dentist because they can tell if you if you need to go to the orthodonist.
Reply:dentist
Reply:dentist orthonditist is for braces care
Reply:a dentist

then an orthodontist too.
Reply:dentist , he will refer you to a specialist
Reply:dentist/oral surgeon....
Reply:face your fears girlie and go see that dentist.
Reply:at the dentist, there's usually one or two who are also orthodontists.
Reply:a Dentist---he will refer you to an Orthodontist when it is time.
Reply:A dentist, and then they will refer you to an orthodontist.
Reply:you see the de4ntist first then they will reccomend an orthodontist later
Reply:orthodontist
Reply:You see the dentist for a referral.
Reply:See your dentist and he will recommend someone.
Reply:see the dentist, the orthodontist will want your teeth checked out first.
Reply:dentist first to see if you have any bad teeth and other things.
Reply:get your teeth healthy by seeing a dentist. then worry about getting them stright.
Reply:You should see the dentist first. He/she should be able to figure out exactly what needs to be done and what can be corrected.
Reply:You will need to see the dentist first. He will refer you to an orthodontist. Be brave dentistry has come a long way. I have four root canals in one day and I have a bright wonderful smile. Not much pain I didn't even need much pain medicine after. Only a day or two.
Reply:Dentist. He will then recommend you to an orthodontist after he's done what he needs to take care of.
Reply:Dental hygiene is critical to health and well being. Dental pain is bad, but quality of life is also effected by the aesthetic. You must see the dentist first to take care of the issues, and then the Orthodontist for your smile. People have died from bad teeth or abscess.
Reply:Go to the dentist first. You should have teeth in good condition before you try to have them straightened.
Reply:You go to the dentist because there are some things a surgeon or even an orthodtist wont do if you have infected gums or cavities.

1st thing you need to get a healthy mouth. Cavs filled, healthy gums, floss floss floss.

Once your teeth are good, you can go have them straightened out
Reply:See your dentist then if he or she can't fix the problem, ask them for a referral to an orthodontist.
Reply:First see a dentist, because you're way overdue for a checkup. Your dentist can recommend a good orthodontist once your teeth are healthy enough to be straightened.
Reply:See the dentist first. Best to find a dentist that works well with chickens. Some dentist are very good at working with people who hate dentist.

If your teeth are that bad he most likely will pull them and fit you with a bridge. But they can preform miracle's these days. But it can be expensive.
Reply:Go see a dentist first. Then they can find out what kind of work you're in for. Then they can recommend you to an orthodontist that they trust and can work with!
Reply:orthodontist first..just call %26amp; set up an appointment to meet %26amp; go over the problem. if you have any other dental problems..like a cavity then you need to go to your dentist first..or you might just go for a checkup %26amp; get your teeth cleaned %26amp; checked...so basically either. good luck!
Reply:A DENTIST, HE WILL DIRECT YOU TO AN ORTHO IF NECSESARY.
Reply:I would probably go see a dentist first who could recommend you to a good orthodontist.

good luck!
Reply:The Dentist will help you if they can and if not they refer you to an Orthodontist--Good luck(I get so scared at the Dentist too/I feel for you,a beautiful smile wil be worth it for you, I'm sure:)

Is green tea bad for teeth?

Like, for example, you brush your teeth and then get into bed, read a book with a cup of green tea. Then, you go to sleep without brushing your teeth again. Will the green tea do anything bad to your teeth?

Is green tea bad for teeth?
green tea is very good for you even your teeth, however if it is sweetened the sugar could hurt your teeth.
Reply:Teeth are not so sensitive, same as you decide to take a bath 3 times a day or bath 3 times a day, whatever makes you happy and feel clean. There are enzymes in your mouth Saliva , that protect you against infections etc. Brush whenever possible, GOOD can never be enough!

I need help bad. i grind my teeth and need something to help.?

i woke up this morning and my teeth hurt so badly. and i have been waking up for the past month or two with this dull pain behind my left ear. it hurts so bad. my teeth are hurting bad right now i can hardly eat. so i am going to walmart and can i buy a teeth guard there? or do they sell any type of stuff at walmart for my teeth hurting?

please i need all the answers i can get.

thank you.

I need help bad. i grind my teeth and need something to help.?
1) You can go to your dentist and have a custom made night guard. It takes a couple of weeks to have it made and costs $300-400.

2) You can go to a physician and get Botox injections in your jaw muscles so that the muscles wont clench and you wont have pain. The injections take 5-7 days to take effect, it will cost about $300, and it will last for 3-4 months.

3) There is an over the counter night guard called "Sleep Right". You can find it online and at some chiropractors offices for about $75. (I have one and it works well and is comfortable)

4) You can see a chiropractor for massage and release of that area. (had it done-it's a little painful at first but feels better later)

5) You can take Advil or Aleve to reduce the pain and inflammation.

6) Stop chewing gum and rubbery candy/foods. They overwork the muscles in that area.
Reply:Your dentist can make a special guard for this problem.
Reply:A mouthgaurd is a good idea. I doubt that there are any products for teeth that hurt, mostly it's for the gums. Try gargling with warm water and salt, it may give some relief.
Reply:I believe the first and best option is to consult your periodontist. You may perhaps visit http://www.reliefmd.com/ for the best no-side-effect remedy for the terrible pain you are experiencing with your tooth.

How is sugar bad for the teeth?

I've always heard that sugar is bad for the teeth, but I don't understand why. Does it attack the teeth from the outside or the inside (ie. getting into the bloodstream)? What if I ate a lot of sweets, but always brushed my teeth? Would I be perfectly fine? What else is good or bad for teeth? Thank you.

How is sugar bad for the teeth?
Bateria in the mouth are attracted to sugar and multiply on a sugar diet. They excrete an acid that eats away at tooth enamal. The more they eat, the more they poop, the more they reproduce.

Starving them by cutting back on sugar intake is an easy way to reduce tooth decay.
Reply:sugar feeds the bacteria in your mouth which causes plaque to form on your teeth and eat at the enamal which makes it easier for the bacteria to attack the basic structure of your teeth.
Reply:SUGAR IS BAD FOR YOUR TEETH BECAUSE OF BACTERIA WHICH ARE ALSO IN YOUR MOUTH. SUGAR, ITSELF, DOES NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO TEETH. YOUR BODY REQUIRES A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF SUGAR IN THE BLOOD.
Reply:it causes bacteria that allows it to eat away at you enamal
Reply:Sugar or any sweet is not actually bad on your teeth as long as you drink plenty of water, brush and floss your teeth and make sure you visit your dentist every six months.
Reply:im not sure about the sugar, but ive heard that soft carbohydrates are worse... b/c they just sit and sit there on you teeth till you brush them.

you can buy the ones at wal mart, but I never could sleep with those in. I finally had to shell out almost $300 to my dentist. He made me one that was very thin and wasn't very noticable in my mouth. It worked well. But then, for the price, it should have!
Reply:You need to see a dentist and your family doctor. And start drinking more milk. Most psople who grind their teeth are doing so because their diet is lacking in calcium and their body is trying to make up for it.

They do sell over the counter night guards but one that isn't made for you can cause problems with your teeth and your bite. It's much better to see a dentist and get a professional opinion before spending your money.
Reply:i have the exact same problem (even in the left ear!) Started about 8 years ago and has progressively gotten worse. I finally broke down and decided to talk to a dentist about it. He made me a mouth splint (cost about $300 or so... i think insurance covered 1/2.) I started using it about 9 months ago, only wear it while I sleep and I have noticed a huge difference! (no more grinding and a lot less "ear"pain!)

If this problem is just starting you could try the cheap mouth piece that they sell at Target or whatever, but if that doesn't help you'll need to see your dentist.

good luck! i feel for you, tmj is absolutely no fun!
Reply:Grinding your teeth while you sleep (or medically called Bruxism) could mean you are going through some sort of stress. I had this issue and after seeing a doctor, he stated that most people gind their teeth because they are going through some sort of stress in their life which was actually the case for me.

I went to my dentist and he gave me a mouthguard to help prevent the damage that can be caused by grinding.

I would not recommend buying an over the counter remedy as they are not as durable as the one you get from the dentist.

Think I provided tells you more about teeth grinding or "Bruxism".
Reply:You need to go to your dentist and he will fit you with a mouthpiece to wear at night to keep you from grinding your teeth. The pain you are feeling behind your ear is called Temporal/Mandible Joint syndrome and you may have to see a regular doctor for that problem.
Reply:Get yourself to a dentist as soon as possible and have him or her examine you and fit you with a bite guard to stop you from doing this. Then, I would strongly recommend that you start seeing a counselor so you can talk about whatever may be bothering you. The number one cause of bruxism, which is the medical name for teeth grinding, is stress. TMJ syndrome DOES NOT cause bruxism- it is the result of it. Most bruxism occurs at night when people are asleep, and for that reason, it is sometimes considered to be a sleep disorder. At any rate, you need to see a dentist immediately for some pain relief, and get yourself to a counselor as well so you can sort out the issues in your life which are causing you so much stress. Good luck, I hope this helps.
