Do you know someone with REALLY bad teeth?

I know someone with brown teeth.

Do you know someone with REALLY bad teeth?
oh, yea!!!!!!!!!! i can remember when i was in 6th grade i had a teacher that would drink coffee ALL day long, every day, and always had it with her where she went. Well, i had her for my very last class and as you can imagine her breath stunk HORRIBLE by that time. But while she was talking you could look at her teeth and see that they were a grayish brown color at the very tops of her teeth, right next to the gums. It TOTALLY grossed me out!!!!!!!!! YUCK!!!!!!!!!!
Reply:Yuck, really they're brown?
Reply:GROOOOOOSS! i know some with bad teeth but not THAT bad.
Reply:%26lt;--------

Mine are yellowish, not brown, but still, my teeth are worse than anyone else i know :(
Reply:My orthodontist.

His teeth are terrible, bad advertising if you ask me....
Reply:Yes. Austin Powers.
Reply:EWWW brown teeth woah they must really be lazy to brush there teeth or maby it was just chocolate covering it but i doubt that. I have bad teeth because they're just crooked but it's not that bad as having brown teeth
Reply:Yes i do its no nasty how they don't brush them! all that yellowness is horrible and it makes there breath stink!
Reply:Yes and I tried not to stare at there mouth too much.
Reply:MIKE MEYERS!!!! lol no affence to him! lol

Would you date a guy with bad teeth even if he were cute?

It amazes me how many nice looking guys don't know where the dentist office. Well there are some gals too. Oral hygeine is so important. There is nothing nastier than rotten teeth.

Would you date a guy with bad teeth even if he were cute?
ACTUALLY HE ISNT CUTE IF HE DOESNT HAVE NICE TEETH. ROTTEN TEETH MAKE BREATH STINK. TAKE HIM TO THE DENTIST AND SEE WHAT THEY CAN DO . LET HIM PAY THE DENTIST BILL !! IF PEOPLE ARENT TRUE TO THEIR TEETH THEIR TEETH WILL BE FALSE TO THEM !!
Reply:ahh tell me about out

maybe there just too dang lazy =/
Reply:As long as he doesn't have bad breath
Reply:as for your question i would still go out with the guy if he is that interesting or can really amaze me with the way he speaks his mind, but he is just cute and really had bad teeth and no personality at all i need not waste my time
Reply:I agree with you!!!!!!!!!
Reply:I agree,i know this one guy at a fast food place and i thought he was so cute, and then he smiled, his teeth were like brownish! Ewwwk
Reply:No way!
Reply:only if that date came with proof of a dentist appointment!
Reply:No, I'm not interest at all.
Reply:Only if he had a cute personality.. you can always help him with his oral hygiene after you get a "cute and close enough that you wont offend him" relationship..

Why do the British characteristically have bad teeth?

The stereotype exists and often seems to be true that the British seem to have more crooked teeth than people from other regions.. Why is this?

Why do the British characteristically have bad teeth?
it's in their DNA... their traits/characteristics.... like why do some people have curly hair and others straight....
Reply:It's not 'bad' teeth. It's like, necessary to enunciate the way they do....just kidding...lol...I don't know man...
Reply:If you remember the book/film "mutiny on the bounty" you will remember that the crew mutinied, and ended up on a place called pitcairn island in the pacific - oddly enough this gave scientists a while back the chance to study an interesting phenomena - see, all of the people who lived on the island were descendants of Fletcher Christian - and they all had lousy teeth - which told the scientists the propensity of teeth to decay was genetic. A large portion of people of British Descent have a gene expression which causes the ph of thier saliva to be "less defensive" when it comes to bacteria - which means that the bacteria that causes tooth decay has a "one up" in thier mouths.

Read it in Smithsonian Magazine a while ago - they are pretty good when it comes to scientific and historical reporting.
Reply:I believe that for a while there was the cultural attitude of "teeth are going to fall out no matter what, so why bother taking care of them?" Hence less dentists/orthodontists, hence generally bad teeth.

At least that's what I've heard, I don't know if it's true or not.
Reply:The British seem to have bad teeth for the same reason Americans have bad manners. Because people start stupid rumours. Besides isn't it better to have crooked teeth than NO TEETH!!
Reply:Bad diet

Too many chip butties and pies

Also lack of sunlight means less vit D an essential aid to calcium(CaCo3)-the stuff teeth are made of.

Lack of good fruit and vegs(c vits and biofavoniods) has weakened their gums

Also the British come from fairly weak genetic stock. They couldn't even hang onto the Ashes for 15 months
Reply:I find this question quite rude, considering my mother is british.

She has amazing teeth, perfectly straight and white. Some have discolored teeth from drinking tea, which stains your teeth if you do not clean it off properly. Mind you, braces aren't as popular in England as in America.

Happy Holidays. :)
Reply:well that is a bit of a generalisation! it's just like saying why are the Americans, stereotypically, obese.

i'm british and i dont have bad teeth, neither does any of family or friends. We're just not like the americans, we dont feel the need to have every inch of our body perfect. British people have their own minds too; they know what is good for themselves and dont feel pressured into doing what somebody else feels is right for them. If i think it's right to brush my teeth 4 times a day, after every meal then ill do that, if my mum wants to brush her teeth twice a day then she'll do that. We just all have our own opinion on things...it's what makes us British.

Buuut with the American invasion, we're getting all the characteristics of you guys and we're all into perfect teeth now. It's just a mini USA now, but without the perkiness.

i feel like scrooge, i love americans really its just we're different and thats it.
Reply:bad and false diet
Reply:When a comment is made that British come from a Weak Gene pool what nationality are you from as if your Australian then you descend from a criminal background which I why your ancestors ended up in Australia in the first place. If you’re from USA you are also probably from Britain or maybe Italy if you’re unlucky enough

also in usa you pay for all your work from birth in Uk we Have the NHS so they are not putting braces on every Child to make a buck or 2 also there are studies that say your teeth will go back to there original form after time. You look at Tom Cruise great smile after having caps fitted 3 or 4 times

Why do American think Brits have bad teeth?

We don`t live in castles just because you don`t know your own history stop assuming about ours. We do have doctors dentists and I just don`t get this teeth thing at all. I should point out its called English because it comes from England duh

Why do American think Brits have bad teeth?
Most Americans don't think this way, they are EDUCATED. Some of the answers on here are hilarious, I must thank Apple for those sweet comments about us! Why do all the nasty people have to come on here and spout vitriol? This is a perfectly straightforward question that requires an honest answer. The media and films portray us as having bad teeth and some of the uneducated masses have decided that it must be true. Now don't think I'm making all Americans out to be illiterate bumpkins, just the bigoted few. Just for the record, I have good teeth, my husband has good teeth and our children have good teeth. What else can I say except WE DON'T ALL HAVE BAD TEETH, and in case you weren't aware, Austin Powers was a fictitional character dreamed up by an American and played by a Canadian.
Reply:Well when you have a candy shop on every corner that helps to keep Brits with bad teeth. Your candy is really good and your public health sucks and looks like we may be more like you guys and gals soon.
Reply:Maybe you don't, but we get pbs, we see quite a few Brits that haven't seen a dentist in a quite a while, if ever. These are current actors so I'm sure it's not a history thing. Look around you more I'm sure you'll see it's pretty clear.

Sorry, you asked.
Reply:Have you not seen Austin Powers baby... those teeth are hideous...
Reply:Brits and europeans in general has the worst teeth, however that doesn't mean Americans have the best, I have lived in both countries and I've seen ugly teeth as anywhere else in the world
Reply:because its protrayed that way on television and for us who have not been to England i guess we just associate it with some place we've never been or know about. Ya know Austin Powers..well thats one brit that tv protrays with bad teeth. America and almost anywhere else believes too much of what they see on tv. Dont let it bother you...im from the south....we get sterotyped as rednecks, trailor trash, and inbred.....none of that is true...well at least some of us arent..haha..anyways everywhere u go youre gonna find someone thinking things are like they are not because someone said something one day and people started believing it.
Reply:i thought it was because Brits do not have fluoridated water, and teeth were noticeably yellow.

However I think these differences are now a thing of the past.
Reply:other side is green
Reply:I'm not sure where the rumor came from, i think that it has something to do with the candy there or something. You don't have to get all fussy about it either, i know that the English don't all have bad teeth nor do you live in castles. Not everybody is that stupid.
Reply:Do they?

I did not know that!
Reply:Americans are stereotypical. And think they are better than everybody else.My opinion.Don't hate me
Reply:Americans think? Thanks for that.
Reply:I personally dont think that and I'm American. I think it really depends on who wants to take care of their teeth...it doesnt matter where they live
Reply:Come now - it's only a stereotype. Stereotypes exist so we can laugh at the others while we ignore our own faults. Not all American women have blond hair and huge knockers either. There are still some English people who live in a castle, like the Windsors. You are always welcome in my castle for a cup of tea.
Reply:It's not just the Yanks...the state of dental health amongst us Brits is a world joke. Latterly picked upon by the Yanks in such films as "Whoops My Botty Farty and My Dentures fell Out." I know many Scandinavians that also take the piss out of British teeth.

Having said that, you won't hear a word said against our teeth state of affairs in such as the nether regions of Turkey where you have toothless old women cackling at the thought of entering the EU.

Hope that helps.

Reply:Well, Candy, "Tea Time", its a joke, but the real reason is that whenever you see any Brits on TV one of which Tony Blair (its not just him that gives the stereotype) When I saw him on TV I knew he was British before I knew he was the prime minister (Teeth) haha, sorry but its not just him he is one of many If you ever see Americans teeth overall they are white and overall when Americans see British/Irish Teeth they are brownish. I don't like being cruel or creating stereotypes I'm sure there are many Brits with good WHITE teeth but overall whenever I meet or the average American meets a Brit or and Irish they have brown teeth. Don't say im ignorant, stuiped, "Don't know my history", whatever I'm not. Im not trying to be mean but the main reason is almost every Brit we(Americans) meet has brown teeth not white. Maybe you go to the Dentist maybe you dont ( Many Americans dont either)

This is my input

Reply:Shut your mouth limey! We kicked your asses in World War II! Just remember that!

THIS QUESTION SHOULD BE FOR THE AMERICAN MEDIA AT LARGE, RATHER THAN THE YAHOO CROWD. SO PLEASE DON'T COME ACROSS AS A 'BLOODY' IGNORAMUS WITH YOUR POST.
Reply:From what I've seen in the media and on here I think Americans are obsessed with having perfect, unlife like teeth. crooked and or slightly yellow teeth does not necessarily equal unhealthy teeth. What's wrong with Tony Blair's teeth? I don't get it. Personally I would far rather see a little imperfection and character in a person's teeth, than really perfect looking, plastic type teeth.
Reply:I thought it was the other way around, that ppl with the worse teeth are those in America
Reply:You do have nasty teeth. My teeth unlike yours are naturally straight . Most of you are distant relatives to royalty and they did inbreed.

Plant question

Why do Brits and Japanese have such bad teeth?

Do they just not care about teeth? Are they not told how to brush their teeth 3x a day?

I don't get it.

I've been to both places, and the stereotypes absolutely are true.

Why?

Why do Brits and Japanese have such bad teeth?
it's not true. problems with teeth are apparent in all countries, all the same. and japs have perfect teeth, by the way. where did you go- to the club and met some meth users??
Reply:I can only speak for British people but the bare facts are there are very little NHS dentists nowadays and people cannot afford to pay for costly private treatment.

I am lucky to have been with my present dentist for many years but others have to travel to other cities and some cannot find one to take them on!
Reply:I've never noticed their teeth....but a lot of us americans have some very bad looking teeth.
Reply:its because they probably arent as educated about brushing teeth. and maybe the food over there is all made with straight sugar. thats what i think.
Reply:idk but it's true

i'm mexican and i have the best freakin teeth in the world it rocks havin good teeth

Do some Americans really think we have bad teeth?

In an episode of "The Simpsons" a dentist shows Ralf a book of British smiles, all of which are terrible. This must be based on an American stereotype, so why does it exist. We have very good teeth in the UK, in fact, we might have the best teeth in Europe.

Do some Americans really think we have bad teeth?
It is sad but true, many Americans believe the British have "bad" teeth. I think it is because some of the British people we have seen have really yellow teeth. I know that is not the case as I have several friends in the UK. It is also believed ( I don't know if it is true or not ), that flouride is not added to the water in the UK as it is here in the US. It just shows the ignorance and misconceptions that people get carried away with.
Reply:I couldn't give a f- what the americans think.
Reply:We don't have Hollywood teeth, which is what they're probably poking fun at (Hollywood, not us).
Reply:Yes it's a stereotype that some of them think is true. After all our stereotype of them is that they are all insular and know nothing about the outside world! Oh !
Reply:My teeth are appalling. Mind you I had a heavy amphetamine habit in the nineties.
Reply:American have some very strange ideas about Europe. I saw one being interviewed on what was the best thing about London and she said the Eiffel Tower!! DUH
Reply:I think they do. On Family Guy (greatest show ever btw) the english ones always have crappy teeth.

Hey, its only a bit of fun tho. We portray americans as fat slobs, so they get what they give :)
Reply:You could have stopped your question at "think"...

Of course many Brits have bad teeth - its partly due to: crap like Coca Cola, Pepsi, etc...
Reply:They do have this stigma attached to us that we have bad teeth I even thought about weather my teeth were perfect before I went over there!. But when I went to the states I saw allot of people whose teeth weren't great so I figured it's the same everywhere the best cosmetic dentistry isn't affordable for all %26amp; people that can't afford the best Dentist don't have the best teeth (unless they don't need dental work).
Reply:It's a stereotype. And like most stereotypes, it has little truth. Personally I have very good dental hygiene and nice white teeth. But then again I do brush them 2 or 3 times a day. But then I know people who have awful teeth. I've seen Americans on TV, some with good teeth, some with bad teeth. The Simpson's is good for a laugh, but that's all it is, I wouldn't be too offended by it if I were you.
Reply:I think the only teeth you can be accountable for are your teeth. What ever you see in a cartoon should be just that...a cartoon! Just folly!
Reply:I think it's based on old film references from the 60's %26amp; 70's.

As a way to combat tooth decay, the Uk brought in Flouride to the water system back in the late seventies/early eighties.

Even today, I have been to the States, and have seen plenty of Americans with bad teeth. Mind you none compare to some of the Eastern Block teeth.

I believe it's generally termed as a class thing. Upper/middle classes now have better teeth. Lower classes have worse teeth. It also costs a lot of money to get teeth like the ones in Hollywood.. Very few are real, and they all get painted regularly. No-ones teeth are that white naturally.
Reply:Wouldn't worry about it............one things certain though .....we havent got enough teeth to fill their gobs!
Reply:The british booze and smoke too much. And they eat too many sweets. That could be the reason for many having bad teeth.
Reply:At least you have teeth. Alot of Americans from the South do not.
Reply:You really shouldn't base your worldview on cartoon shows.
Reply:It's as stereotypical as us thinking that all americans are lard a r s e s! i think we have a point :O)
Reply:I think every country in the world refers to the british as people with bad teeth.

I was in the middle of East Africa once and had that said to me by a local!
Reply:NO, It's a comical stereotype occasionally used in entertainment (i.e. Austin Powers)

We know there is no legitimate basis for it.

Don't flatter yourselves, I don't know a soul that has ever cared enough to make fun of a Brit's teeth.
Reply:There was some study a few years back that purported that the British have poor dental hygiene. I did not see the Simpsons episode but perhaps that's the reason for the parody.
Reply:lol. Yes. Sorry. But you guys think all 300 million of us are stupid and obese, so....ya know. :/

Keeping it simple: i got bad teeth: looking for dentist that does pro bono work n san marcos or austin,tx help

i want a new whole mouth, but cannot afford it.. i've heard that some dentist does pro bono work.. it would be nice for a dentist to understand why i need a whole new mouth ( bad teeths) and it would boost my morale and self esteem looking for such dentist in san marcos,tx or austin tx..so anyone got any suggestion..?

Keeping it simple: i got bad teeth: looking for dentist that does pro bono work n san marcos or austin,tx help
Pro bono is a legal term, essentially meaning "for free." While lawyers may do pro bono work to ingratiate themselves with the community, the only dentists I know that do pro bono are the ones in dental schools. You will need to research the web for your area for dental schools. The upside is that they will do the dental work for free. The downside is that they are not yet dentists -- you will have rookies playing around in your mouth. Most likely, the rookies will do just fine and you will have your self esteem. But pro bono is a legal term, not a dentistry ethic.
Reply:How about this for simple? sell your computer and pay for your new teeths instead of looking for a handout.
Reply:Pro-bono is the fancy word for free. You want free work done. People are hardpressed to do free work. I would suggest making an appointment with a cosmetic dentist. If he sees how bad you situation, maybe he/she will be willing to work something out. Possibly, do things in phases and you can pay as you go. I've been to some pretty cool dentists in my area that are willing to work with their patients. I'm sure your area would be the same. And if you have to, look outside of your area. So make many appointment until you find someone who will cut you some slack. Make sure you tell them you are a cash customer.

Have you tried getting a job with dental benefits. If braces will help, make sure the orthodontics coverage is a good one.

Good luck.

Do you have good or bad teeth?

I know there is an assumption that us British people all have mouths that look like 'burnt out villages' but this is simply untrue.

My teeth, for example, look merely like a 'desecrated grave yard' which is far more attractive...

Do you have good or bad teeth?
I have decent teeth, though my mother would kill me if she knew just how crooked one of my teeth has gotten(it's starting to hurt too), after paying so much for braces when I was a kid. I really need to get to the dentist, thanks for the reminder......yikes!

Reply:well i think having white teeth comes from all factors like diet, method of brushing, any bad habits like smoking..

i must say i have bad teeth..even though i did braces, after a while when i don't maintain it.it becomes out of shape again
Reply:I do have good nice teeth too.... though it is not so white... but i think nowadays, you can do something with your teeth using the latest technology. Try to come to Thailand or the Philippines to have it corrected... it is cheaper here i guess than where you are in..... just inviting you....

Reply:To tell u da truth, I hav very bad teeth that whenever I go to the dentist, he refuses to look at them. ; )
Reply:i wouldn't say my teeth is all that good but i guess they're not bad either..the reason my teeth aren't very good is they're worn from all the gritting i used to do when i concentrated. one time i went to the dentist they said i needed braces..so maybe my teeth aren't exactly straight, but they don't look crooked to me..i dunno why they said that.
Reply:quite nice ones.
Reply:me teeth are alrite... altho i have the dentist tomorrow n im sooo scared :(

Why do tweakers have such bad teeth?

I have noticed that many people who use meth have a lot of missing teeth. What exactly causes this?

Why do tweakers have such bad teeth?
Short version--Meth dries out the mouth. Without saliva to wash over the teeth and help clean them, cavities are produced VERY quickly. Plus, meth users don't have the best hygiene, either.
Reply:Poison is not good for human consuption.Could be the draino or acid or rat poison they cook it with or the depleation of vitamins and the introduction of all the toxic chemicals in it.
Reply:Bad teeth are not the only physical problem that Methamphetemine user's have , they are only the most obvious deformity. If you consider the individual chemicals that go into the manufacture of this drug you might agree that each one is a poison that you would not put into your body without expecting the eventual outcome of DEATH. this chemecal compound attacks every system in the body and the deteirioration affects the entire body and mind as well. I sinccerely hope that you are an intelligent enough individual to realize this drug is pure poison and never, never experiment with it.

Do all British people have bad teeth. Or does the U.S just have better dental care?

My teeth are great by the way and I'm British.

Do all British people have bad teeth. Or does the U.S just have better dental care?
I'm an American, but when I visited the UK I noticed that the British had better teeth than I expected! I'd guess that Americans have more orthodontic work, as I seemed to see more British people around with overbites, but I didn't notice the kind of discolored or rotten-looking teeth that Americans stereotypically associate with the British. Perhaps things were worse in the UK in the past.

However, if you compare British and American TV shows and movies there's a big difference in how the actors' teeth look. Hollywood actors get a lot of purely cosmetic dental work so they'll have very white, even teeth. For whatever reason this doesn't seem to be as big a concern for British actors.

I've sometimes heard Americans say that everyone in British TV shows seems to have horrible teeth, but they're actually quite ordinary looking teeth that really only seem bad in comparison to the "perfect" Hollywood teeth we're used to seeing on TV.
Reply:Not all, but a lot do. Most places in the U.S. put fluoride in the water which helps. My brother-in-law (UK) had dentures by the time he was 40.
Reply:The US has better dental care.
Reply:Why are you asking this question if you are British?
Reply:Not all Americans have great teeth. Remember those joke teeth "Billy Bob" teeth? The teeth are all wonky. Based on American teeth. Sort of a take off on hill billies

I think that most actors on American TV look too perfect, perfect white teeth (costs a fortune), hair, bodies, implants, clothes, whereas British programmes have actors that look like "average" people (and much better actors for that matter) and not perfect.

Compare something simple like soap operas: Young and the Restless vs. Coronation Street. Miles apart.
Reply:I was told that although the brits teeth can often appear grey in color, their teeth are actually healthier because they don't bleach them and use excessive amounts of flouride which is actually poisonous.

How true that is, I'm not sure because I am not a dentist.

I also know that Brits drink more tea (which stains teeth but is healthier than drinking soda all day).
Reply:I always thought that was a stereotype. I have seen plenty of people in the U.S with some horrible teeth. There is no way that you are in your twenties and your teeth are falling out and brown.
Reply:Hi Marc I am delighted your teeth are great

but I still think the Americans beat us.

All the American people I have seen have beautiful teeth, and I always give credit where is due. Sorry to disappoint you.

Guys, would you not date a girl because of bad teeth?

I'm very good looking and very nice. My teeth are discolored from antibiotics I took when I was younger. I rarely smile and am very depressed about this. The only solution is veneer which costs around $5000 which I don't have. Whitening procedures may help a bit but not much. I do go to a dentist twice a year and brush my teeth, it's not like they're rotten or anything. Has anyone tried crest strips? Back to the subject, no one is perfect. I'm just wondering how important perfect, white teeth are! And like I said, I

am very hot just not my teeth.

Guys, would you not date a girl because of bad teeth?
Well it's not a big problem if your trying really hard to whiten them like you are, it's only a problem when they don't care that their teeth look like baked beans.
Reply:As long as you don't have a bad breath.... its fine
Reply:yes because bad teeth are very ugly
Reply:I'm not a guy but good teeth are a must. You talk and kiss and and eat with a person and you see teeth quite a bit. Not everyone cares about teeth, even really hot guys will date a girl with gross teeth if she is still pretty, but the one thing is people jump to conclusions like you arent clean and never brush, if you like someone just explain to them why they are that way and they bug you and if the guy doesnt like it, let him walk.
Reply:as long as you have teeth..
Reply:Any real man would see beyond the teeth and know that he

could have his wife's teeth fixed...
Reply:It does make some difference. My gf has bad teeth and it's kind of embarrassing.

Reply:its mebbe easy for u to say..but all a gurl needs to make a guy fall for him is her smile..they go crazy over it...n thats what ur spoiling...its not that i am blaming u..but eventually..dont try to show ne guy ur HOT!! just show them u have a gr8 heart n u'll find the guy hu will love u despite ne physical feature of urs...
Reply:Your right, no one is perfect. A cute smile with pearly whites showing tends to be on my top 3 things i look for in a female.
Reply:Have you tried rinsing with hydrogen peroxide, right from the bottle. I use it daily, and it's cheap..........If you dont mind foaming at the mouth, briefly. :)
Reply:no because thats not a big problem for me and their is always more girl then bad teeth
Reply:so are you saying you 'would' date a girl with bad teeth??

that's so sweet!!!

i think most people think white teeth are important because it means a person takes good care of their mouth. most people don't think maybe a person has discolored teeth because of medication. they just think the person doesn't take care of their mouth.

i guess from now on i'll just have to make sure it's not from neglect. because NO ONE wants to date a guy that don't take care of his mouth.

i use crest plus whitening toothpaste. have you tried white light treatments. they sell the kits at walmart now. i have used it once and it worked for me.

i hope one day you will be happy with your smile. but don't get a big head when you do. keep being a sweety.
Reply:As you are very hot, I am sure you can have secret little meetings with guys but few would like to be seen with you as their girlfriend but as your main attraction is that you are hot and not classy, educated, interesting with a good personality, once they unload you will have served your purpose. At least you can get a good night's sleep, you won't have to put up with snoring or guys farting in bed.
Reply:I would work OT and save up for the veneer. Make that your top priority. I know it sucks to have to worry so much about the surface stuff but for most people bad teeth are a hard thing to get past.

Why do meth heads have bad teeth?

What is it about meth that rots your teeth? Also, I've heard that it might even put holes in your cheeks. Is there any truth to this?

Why do meth heads have bad teeth?
Meth only rots your teeth if you smoke it. Just like crack. It destroys the enamel that protect your teeth from decay, therefore, your teeth are more suceptible to cavities. Also, meth makes you grind your teeth ALOT, so, you can also break them or lose them altogether due to the combination of decay AND grinding them daily.
Reply:I'm not completely sure but it has to do with one of the chemicals that eats out and destroys the enamel in ur teeth and with out the enamel, ur teeth will decay fast
Reply:Meth, both methadone %26amp; methadrine, makes ya grind your teeth!

Do autistic children usually have bad teeth too?

Is it common for Autistic children to have teeth problems?

Do autistic children usually have bad teeth too?
A very good family friend has an autistic boy... the extent of his dental problems are mainly centered on finding (and being able to pay for) a dentist that specializes or is capable of treating autistic children.

Then you have to deal with the insurance companies duking it out over whether it is a medical or dental procedure. The dental insurance will say its medical and the medical insurance will say it is dental.

My thoughts and prayers are with you on all you have to do.
Reply:NO
Reply:I haven't noticed that.
Reply:No, the only problems are the inability to work in groups, etc., but a autistic child could have something against dental hygene, and just refuse to care for their teeth.
Reply:There is nothing about autism which would say that autistic children necessarily have bad teeth. Now many autistic children do lack certain skills such as social, hygienic, along with many others. So based on this, I would say there may be a greater chance for autistic children to have bad teeth, but that much greater.
Reply:Autistic children can look like any other child out there. They tend to have mental problems, but can excel in a specific areas like art. Of course, genetics and bad brushing habbits can lead to bad teeth... but they aren't prone to it.
Reply:I don't thing an autistic child would automatically have bad teeth. Autistic children tend to shy away from contact with other people. Because of their withdrawal from others, it may be difficult for them to learn hygeinic practices, and they may be unwilling to let others do this for them. This could lead to bad teeth, unclean body, etc.
Reply:I used to teach autistic children. The only reason they would have bad teeth is if they have not accepted brushing. It is possible they may be resistant to brushing/have their teeth brushed, but if they were taught the right way from a young age, that should not be a problem.
Reply:Because of an autistic child's sensory integration deficits, they often resist brushing teeth and dental procedures. Yes, autistics (and other children with sensory sensitivity) often have dental problems.

Your child's Occupational Therapist should have training in, and be able to provide, Sensory Integration therapy.

http://www.sensoryint.com/
Reply:My brother is 13 and is autistic. He has sensory deficits. He hates the feeling of the toothpaste from the dentist and his own at home. He also does not like the feeling of the bristles on the brush. He also has crooked teeth \, but that tends to run in the family. Also, he cannot stand the feeling of braces against his gums. So, from his experiences that I have seen, most autistic children do have teeth problems, but more along the line of not wanting to brush them and then not being able to withstand dental procedures.

This little girl I am watching has really bad teeth, should I say something?

I am watching an 18 month old and her teeth are just awful. She was a sever premie and I don't know if that's what has contributed to her teeth or lack of care. Should I mention it to her parents or not say anything because it's not like she's my child? Her teeth are yellow and if you tap them with the spoon on accident she squeals in pain and won't finish eating.

This little girl I am watching has really bad teeth, should I say something?
yes, definitely tell them. I mean, they could be in denial for sure.. If it were me, I would want someone to say something.. help that little girl out..
Reply:If she's in pain with them I would certainly mention it. Iam sure they are aware of it, but probably dont know what to do. Maybe suggest they take her to a dentist so they can paint them. My brother had horrible teeth from drinking so much apple juice as a toddler, they had to paint a protective enamel on them for us.
Reply:Tell them, tell them. They probably know but are in denial. If someone pointed it out to them, they might do something about it. Tell them before she loses weight from not eating or something.
Reply:Take her to a dentist
Reply:Yes, if you notice she is in pain then mention it to her parents.

Be sure she is not keeping a bottle with juice (citric acid) in her mouth, like to put her to sleep, etc. Apple juice, etc. will erode her teeth. She should be drinking from a sippy-cup by now anyway. It could also be her absorbtion of calcium. She needs to see a doctor.

Good that you are contientious and caring about this.

How can I learn to be intimate with husband with bad teeth?

I love my husband very much. He's a good man and a good provider and he loves me. But there is one thing about him that I am ashamed to say really turns me off...over the past couple of years, his teeth have begun to fall out and he even has front teeth and bottom teeth missing. The few remaining teeth are awful. He has always brushed his teeth daily and has good hygiene, but his family has a history of severe dental problems. When we got married, 20 years ago, his teeth were fine. It's not that he hasn't been to the dentist and tried to get them taken care of. Even though we have dental insurance, it only will pay a mere fraction of the cost of oral surgery and dentures. (Also, I know he is now avoiding the dentists because he doesn't want to get dentures....he's only 42.) We don't have $6000 to pay upfront. But lately, I am having great difficulty just being close to him and I feel so terrible and shallow for feeling that way. Any advice?

How can I learn to be intimate with husband with bad teeth?
wow, don't know what to say except maybe find a dental clinic that has financing available.
Reply:avoid cunnilingus. Shoot, I don't know.
Reply:That's pretty harsh. He didn't make himself. You shouldn't judge him on his looks, but by his heart. I'm not trying to be mean, just letting you know that you should ignore the fact that his teeth aren't great and don't let that ruin your relationship. I hope this helps!
Reply:Mysti, My dear you are okay just be honest with him ! Age has nothing to do with bad teeth. There are kids with dentures and glasses and hearing aides ! Bad teeth not only effects others but your health as well ! Find someone who will do it on payments ! Don"t let pride get in the way !
Reply:I don't know how you could get past this. How do you think he would treat you if it was you that had this problem?I was on a job and was hit in the mouth with a large drill and lost 14 teeth.I was 24 when I had to get dentures and no woman has ever said anything about them except one woman who begs me to remove them while performing oral on her!Good luck.
Reply:No, you're not shallow at all. This is actually a really serious issue. I can totally understand where you're coming from.

The dentists that I know all offer payment plans. See if you can work out something with a dentist of your choice.

Is there a Medical %26amp; Dental School nearby? When I was in college and broke, there was a dental hygienist program and I used to get my teeth cleaned for free for volunteering as a guinea pig. The girls were so cautious and it was all done under supervision. It was great. So maybe there's a dental school where they would work on him for free. It's worth a phonecall.

The bigger problem, I think, is his reluctance to go get it done. I think the only way to get him to go will be to be honest with him. Men (not all, but many) usually don't do so well with subtle hints. In my experience, if you tell them straight up what the problem is and what you want done, they'll hear you. Maybe your hubby is different, but he can't be oblivious to the fact that having no teeth isn't exactly appealing intimately. You can be nice about it and say something like: look honey, I love you and I want to be intimate with you, but I have a real problem going there because of the teeth. Won't you please get it fixed. Sheesh.. I hope he listens... best of luck to you :-)
Reply:If he doesn't want to get dentures then he needs to go to a dentist now in order to save as many teeth as possible. Yes, dentistry is expensive, but worth it! Find out how much it is going to cost and either set up a payment plan or take out a loan and that way you can pay X amount each month.

Another idea is, depending on where you live....there are dental colleges where senior students need patients to work on for a minimal amount of money. Check that out.

But the longer you wait the worse it is going to get, so get an appt with your dentist now!
Reply:I know how you feel my husbands is the same was and I feel the same way you do. I would just sit down and have a talk with him and tell him how you feel. If he really loves you he will understand.
Reply:I hate to be the Bad Guy here but your Hubby has let himself go on this point and now it affects you, Well just cow girl up and tell him maybe he will get the mesage and talk to his DDS look I have dental Ins and yea it will not pay full price but in his case even if he has to pay or Finance 1/2 the cost its worth it. Look if you think he has sewer gas bust out of his grill can you imagine what his coworkers and other people think? He is what 42 that is NO excuse he is a grown man he just needs to swallow his pride and fix his GRILL!
Reply:you can go to Affordable dentures. It is better then trying to eat with bad teeth ,and when a person's teeth are bad, it puts their health in danger. As bad teeth can cause a lot of bacteria, that can effect all of your organs, not just your teeth,
Reply:If you love your husban like you said then you must help him. Do you work? If not get a job and help him. Call around and ask for payment plans. Go to the bank. Try every thing you can. This man needs you. You have been married to him 20 years and now you can't get close to him. Are you sure it isnt something else?
Reply:I don't know where you live, but $6000 for dentures? That seems a bit high. Check around. You can always get on a payment plan. Bad teeth can lead to other health problems. I'd suggest you figure out someway to get the man some teeth.

My boyfriend has really bad teeth.?

Okay, I'm not being mean but they are reaaly bad. And I had someone tell me that gum disease is CONTAGIOUS! Is it??????

My boyfriend has really bad teeth.?
Ok-periodontal disease is contagious in a sense because it is caused by bacteria. Anyone who does not have bacteria in their mouth can have them introduced by close contact with another. Guess what? We all pick up bacteria when we are infants. The reason that periodontal disease doesn't cause huge problems for everyone is that the competition between different strains forms a sort of checks and balances that, with proper home care, keeps things under control. When things do get out of whack and the disease takes off, it is possible for the resultant overgrowth of the more nasty buggers to be transmitted. Encourage your boyfriend to seek some professional dental care. Also bad teeth do not = gum disease. There is an overlap in causative organisms, but lots of people with bad gum disease have no cavities, and there are lots of teeth that have (or haven't) been filled or crowned that are supported by healthy gums and bones.
Reply:No Its not. Gum Disease is a infection in the Gums. You would need to develop it from your own bad habits or from possibly pregnacy. It would need to be a virus for you to catch it.
Reply:not goog healthGum Disease is a infection in the Gums. You would need to develop it from your own bad habits or from possibly pregnacy

Reply:No it is not contagious. Whoever told you that doesn't know what they are talking about. Your boyfriend needs to start taking care of his teeth and his gums....or he will lose his teeth! Yikes

Why do Chinese have bad teeth?

In a recent visit to China I found most people had darkened - yellow/brown/ teeth. These were educated well-to-do folks. Is it the Tofu/Soya sauce diet?

Why do Chinese have bad teeth?
I don't know if you're from the US, but here we have fluoride in our water, which helps make teeth stronger. In countries where the water has no additives, people's teeth may wear out more quickly, especially if they take poor care of their teeth (not brushing, getting cavities filled, etc)
Reply:They probably believe in keeping their teeth dirty. Some type of religion stuff or something. not to sure.
Reply:One of the main reasons is because since their lifestyle is so stressful, most of the people smoke which causes discoloring of teeth.

Can people just have bad teeth if they do take care of them?

What is it if you have horrible teeth you always have problems with? You brush, you floss, and to no avail, they still suck. What is the deal? Can it just be genetics or something?

Can people just have bad teeth if they do take care of them?
A lot of tooth problems ARE inherited from our parents... for example if both parents had SOFT ENAMAL on their teeth, so will YOU... If only one parent, odds are you COULD have soft enamal OR inherit harder the harder enamal of the other parent. also bone problems can be inherited--if both parents lost mandible bone and tissue, likelihood that you will too will losen those teeth of yours... this also can happen on the bottom teeth as well. All the brushing, flossing, eating less sweets will NOT change the fact that you may have soft enamal on your teeth...BONDING the teeth will help and staying away from the sweets and brushing and flossing PROPERLY will definitely keep the teeth healthier but will not change your enamal from soft to hard... I have 2 brothers... they both have soft enamal teeth---they have had TONS of cavities in both their baby teeth AND their adult teeth. They also acquired poor dental bone and in their advanced years (50's) have begun losing teeth due to receeding gums which lets go of the hold on the ROOT of the teeth... in contrast, I had EXTREMELY strong teeth (strong enamal),, had but ONE CAVITY my entire life, but also started to have poor dental bone and lost MOST of my teeth from losening hold on the teeth root....sad thing was each tooth that fell out was in PERFECT SHAPE... most of the teeth that started falling out on both brothers had some sort of decay on them.... We ALL took very good care of my teeth because my mother worked for the local dentist and we just learned at a very early age that we MUST take care of our teeth----in all 3 of our cases, our teeth only lasted 50 years...regardless of my strong enamal... had my dental bone area been stronger, I probably would still have all my original teeth... oh and I went to dentists regularly and an orthodontist once a month for 7 complete years...
Reply:It is partly due to hereditary factors. Brush teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste and don't eat sugary food, you should not face many problem . From http://aches.in/preventtoothache.html
Reply:YES
Reply:Yes it definitely is genetics, brush at least twice a day, and floss nightly, and keep your breath fresh as well. Do the best you can with what you have. You will find most people will understand, that it is something that is inherited. Put on your best smile, and you will get smiles in return

Do you think Melindas bad teeth can keep her from winning?

I dont mean to be rude but when she sings her teeth are distracting. It doesnt matter how well she sings.

Do you think Melindas bad teeth can keep her from winning?
No
Reply:I believe she went home, becasue america knows she can be another Jennifer Hudson, she has great potential. I can see her in a broadway play or some movie musical Report It

Reply:I agree she has one ugly smile. She needs to try and keep her mouth closed. She has huge gums that show when she smiles. She's hard to look at. She could win if they put her behind a screen shen she sings.
Reply:ruben being big didn't keep him from winning nor did fantasia having very big lips
Reply:That is actually a rude thing to say. All of the contestants had something distracting to me. For instance, a mole, big lips, teeth, hair, weight, looks, make up, etc. but we are listening to the SINGING, not looking! If you want that, watch America's Next Top Model!
Reply:Her teeth can easily be fixed. It is only distracting to you america likes her
Reply:Whoever said she is going to win? Blake is going to win. I mean she is so damn boring that the only her distracting teeth is what keeps us entertain.

She has no personality. Just like a typical diva who sings diva-ish songs. She has no looks. Looks more like a horse to me. And she is plain boring - she is already a back-up singer. Itz her own bad luck for not being able to break into the music scene. Don't make use of American Idol! Itz for raw talent like Blake!
Reply:I honestly think she is Beautiful.

I think her smile and her eyes are her most attractive features.

I haven't noticed anything ugly about the girl.

I hope she wins.

Why do the English have bad teeth???

Don't mean to be mean, but they have some terrible teeth!!!

Do they go to the dentist, or do they even brush their teeth????

Why do the English have bad teeth???
wow talk about stereotyping!

Not all English people have bad teeth
Reply:Maybe cause they drink a lot of tea?

And yeah tea makes your teeth yellowish.
Reply:Lol not all britians have bad theeth just the ones you see in the like ollldd british times and I think its because they had so much tea or maybe to much sugar in their tea and im not sure if they had toothpaste or not...
Reply:i think they must do brush therir teeth and also go to dentist for checkup
Reply:without generalizing too much, its more down to the fact that the youth don't particularly like to wear braces or retainers
Reply:No socialized dental care. Very expensive.
Reply:I think about 75 % of Europeans smoke!!! That cant be good for their teeth color.
Reply:its probably just the tea but I mean, whats the point?! As long as they work... :)
Reply:.Of course we brush,on all of my holidays in America i saw many Americans who had foul looking teeth, you are just generalizing
Reply:I think you have been watching to many old movies.
Reply:it's in there genes. they don't have the flouride and other minerals in their toothpaste, mouthwash as americans. americans are into their looks the english arent.
Reply:English people do not have "bad" teeth as a whole. They do not straighten their teeth as much as other countries do, but that does not make them bad teeth. Also, tea is a major part of many of their diets and tea stains teeth very badly. But again, just becaues they are stained, it does not make them "bad". Many places have become acustomed to teeth that have had a lot of cosmetic work done.
Reply:wasn't aware of that.
Reply:Im British and I don't have bad teeth most British people don't have bad teeth of course they go to the dentist and they brush their teeth open your eyes and actually go to the whole of Britain and then you may get an idea that they care about their teeth.
Reply:Yeh this is a bit stereotyped. Don't know where you got this from but a minority of people in every country are gonna' have bad teeth, like many americans will (even if it's not you).

It's not just the English, just a select few, same as everywhere else...

Can I get braces with bad teeth (I need a root canal and some wisdom teeth pulled)?

Or should I wait until my teeth are in their best shape? Also, I had bonding, so should I remove it before the braces, and if so, could my orthodontist remove it or would my dentist have to?

Can I get braces with bad teeth (I need a root canal and some wisdom teeth pulled)?
These are questions to be asked to and settled in consultation with your orthodontist, but I'll give you my experience, since you asked:

When I got braces (over 20 years ago) I had to have my wisdom teeth cut out of the bone BEFORE the braces were put on. That was so they wouldn't start to come in and mess up the dental work.
Reply:no

you need to get everything fixed first
Reply:The first consideration would be the decay rate in your mouth. A high decay rate would indicate that orthodontics would not be wise. Get the root canal done, the wisdom teeth removed and all decayed teeth and improper fillings corrected.

Next go to the orthodontist for an examination and consultation. He or she will then give you the full breakdown of anything further you need to do. That way, if you do not go for the ortho, you will at least have a good set of healthy teeth.
Reply:wait then your gonna have to fix it after a week of having them

Charitable help needed for fixing bad teeth friend wants to reenter work force.surprising?

Is there any help out there for a recovering addict who really wants to make life whole again but keeps getting put off because of his missing teeth it is surprising how much good teeth mean at a job interview it's hard to sell yourself if you can't smile.

Charitable help needed for fixing bad teeth friend wants to reenter work force.surprising?
Wow, aren't you a great friend ! So many people fail to realize how important decent teeth are to having healthy self esteem. I don't know if you watch American Idol.... There was a male contestant last year named Eliot Yamen (sp) . He had an incredible voice but horrible teeth... Anyhow recently he had his teeth fixed.... I think they were donated to him ...Sorry don't know how or who donated.

Back to your friend .... here is a site ----%26gt; http://www.drbukk.com/imako/imako.html that sells a temporary shell that makes the front/upper teeth look great ! I purchased one of these when I had a dental issue ( missing crown) and it Worked for me till I saved the 1000.00 to get my crown replaced. By know means is this a replacement for dental work .... BUT it will allow your friend to look normal and be relaxed in his job search... Perhaps he can use it till he gets a job with some dental insurance???

Another option is for you to possibly pay for your friends dental work.... Go to a clinic or local dental college and ask for the cheapest option. Perhaps make it a loan or gift to help him help himself....

Either way you are nice to care about your friend in this way ..... Good luck !
Reply:This person should go to the county's department of social services for help.
Reply:Tell him I wish him the best in any search for help. I suffered all my life with misaligned teeth, rejected for more jobs than I can count, until my teeth went bad and were pulled. (Used my husband's insurance and savings for that.) I didn't find anyone or anything that helped.

My bunny has bad teeth and is getting 2 thin, what should i feed him?

His previous owner didn't feed him any hard foods, so he has poor teeth. He is a dwarf gray bunny weight like 3-5 pounds and i can feel his ribs.

My bunny has bad teeth and is getting 2 thin, what should i feed him?
It probably isn't a matter of not being fed proper feed but more of improper genetics to cause bad teeth.

Which teeth are we talking about...his molars or his incisors?? Are the incisors straight, crooked? Does the top teeth overlap the bottom?

Dwarf rabbits are more suseptible to what is called "maloclussion". Due to their bigger heads of the Dwarf, the head grows so fast that the teeth/jaw can't keep up, so this causes problems with the teeth not matching properly. This is uncomforatable and will lead to the rabbit not eating.

You need to determine what is the actual problem with the teeth, which ones, etc and take action to correct the tooth problem. If it is the incisors, you (or a vet) may need to trim them to correct them from overlapping improperly causing him probably not to eat.

Your best bet may be to find a rabbit knowledgeable vet or well known breeder in your area to help determine the actual problem/cause. If this rabbit was never fed a commercial diet, you are going to shock his system by abrupting putting him on one. But if you keep feeding him greens and veggies, this could mess up his digestive system unless you know how to properly balance what greens he needs to surive through getting the proper nutrients, vitamins etc.

First seek the cause of the problem of the teeth and get immediate attention for that and then finding the proper feed and getting weight back on him will fall into place once you take care of the actual problem you are facing.

PS: Iceburg lettuce is not healthy for a rabbit, too watery. Romain lettuce is safe. Note: Dark green foods are better for rabbits due to the lower water content. Too much watery foods in a rabbit's diet leads to upset digestive systems and diarrhea.
Reply:Take him to the vet so you can help his teeth
Reply:Try feeding him lettece.
Reply:Soory to say but I heard lettuce is really bad for rabbits, please check before you feed him lettuce!
Reply:His teeth may be too long. Your vet can clip them. That may be why he is so thin, he can't eat right. I would take him to the vet and have him checked out to find what is wrong. If he is that skinny there is probably something wrong and it's better to catch the problem early and treat it before it gets any worse.

English people and bad teeth?

first off i dont want to offend or sterotype anyone, but i have noticed a lot of english people do have really awful teeth, why is that? exspecially when there is free dental treatment for people on a low income and people not working, i know the nhs is a joke but still the service is there.

English people and bad teeth?
I have noticed most peoples teeth myself, and i think it must be fear of the dentist . Because if the treatment is free, then surly you would take advantage of it, and have lovely teeth..............
Reply:I think Americans are obsessed with perfection. I know there are cases where health issues can arise from teeth that are severely crooked, but we are too obsessed with Hollywoodized ideals. How many people bleach their teeth, for Pete's sake?

I think that we are too used to airbrushed perfection and tend to look down at other people who don't care about the same things we do.
Reply:I've tried to figure it out myself. I think genetically a lot of them have really big teeth (or so I've seen), so they don't have as much room for the teeth to fit. I've tried tying it into diet, but I don't see it.

I'm pretty sure socialized dental service in the UK treats only for problems, like cavities, etc. As far as superficial dental treatments, they would have to go pay for it themselves.
Reply:the nhs is not a joke. it's better than most countries. these days nhs dentists are harder to find, because they get more money going private.

maybe english people brush their teeth for a shorter time than the average person in other nations, or don't bother with flossing or mouth wash as much as the average person in other developed countries.

maybe some think "oh if my teeth get bad i can go to the dentists at a later date and he'she'll do something about it, but then when their teeth do get in a bad state, they never get around to sorting them out.

maybe?

Any alternatives for a Chihuahua's bad teeth?

My chi is 11 years old. His teeth are pretty yellow, breath is horrible and his gums are red on the tooth line. I know he needs to get his teeth cleaned but I also know they would have to put him under in order to do it. I am absolutely terrified that he could die under the anesthisia. Are there any alternatives? Am I unnessesarily scared?

Any alternatives for a Chihuahua's bad teeth?
I think you are unnecessarily scared. The vet knows the right amount of anesthesia to give your chi. If he did not think it was going to help the dog, he wouldn't have suggested. it.

Breath could be horrible because at that age he may have some teeth that need to come out. Don't panic! I had an elderly cat years back that suddenly stopped eating and acted like he was at deaths door. We really thought we were going to lose him. We took him to the vet. The vet said he had sores on his gums and a few rotting teeth. He pulled the teeth, treated the gums, and sent the cat home. I couldn't believe this was the same cat. He bounced back to life again. He ate like crazy, was active, wanted to go outside again. It was like the vet gave him another life!! I was really surprised. Maybe this cleaning is just what the chi needs.

I hope everything goes well for you.. I would love to hear how he makes out.
Reply:I'm not being funny but just brush his teeth
Reply:At this point, "just brushing his teeth" isn't going to do a whole lot for you. It can't remove infection and toothbrushes can't get under his gums like dental tools can. The only time tooth brushing works is if you are VERY thorough with it and can do it EVERY day (think about your own teeth).

Talk to your vet about the dental cleaning procedure. It is an anesthetic procedure, but there are things they can do to alter the anesthesia to better work for him. One of the first things they will do for your little one is some pre-anesthetic bloodwork that tests liver and kidney functions. From there they can alter their anesthesia protocol to suit your dog. While he's under anesthesia, they'll inspect his entire mouth, clean his teeth, and depending on what they find on exam, they may need to extract a few teeth. Don't be scared of extractions, either. We have a patient at my hospital (who is also a chihuahua) that has NO teeth and still manages to eat hard food.

Hope that helps.
Reply:You could get the vet to buy in a little metal scraper for you which is gently manually used by yourself if you think he will allow you to touch his teeth. If he lets you run your finger over his teeth I would think he'd be ok with the scraper (I use one on my little dog) .

There are also dog toothpastes avail from vets which soften the tartar thus aiding the removal of plaque much easier.

Or you could buy the herbal mixture (again from vets) which is mixed into the feed %26amp; also should aid plaque removal / prevent more build up

I also know of people giving their dogs raw chicken wings which they gnaw on %26amp; are good at keeping the teeth cleaner.

Like you, i would not expose my dog to anaesthesia without having tried all other options first.

maybe you could just take him to the vets to get his opinion %26amp; rule out any gingivitis or current problematic conditions due to the red gum area

For 11 years of such a breed i think you have done fabulously well to keep his teeth still there!

good luck
Reply:the alternative was prevention- now that that's not an option you need to do this once- don't worry too much about the anesthesia- if dogs died all the time from it it wouldn't be used.

After the surgery- brush his teeth, use a dentabone, feed dry food and you'll never have to do it again.
Reply:The homeopathic remedy for plaque and tarter is Fragaria.

There is also a product , I think it's called Plaque Off. Amazon sells it. You put this in the drinking water and then with brushing, the plaque and tarter come off.

Don't know if either of these work, but I'm trying the Fragaria now. It hasn't been long enough yet for me to comment on it.

Does anyone else have a hamster with bad teeth?

We have a male hamster who has a top tooth that grows in a circle into its mouth. We first found it when it had grown into his cheek and I clipped the tooth and pried it out of his mouth. Now I clip his teeth about once a week. Is this common? Is there a way to straighten his tooth so it doesn't grow inward?

Does anyone else have a hamster with bad teeth?
try some chew toys
Reply:Not sure what you can do. Rodents normally grind their teeth to prevent this from happening.
Reply:fabricate him a hamster headgear to sleep in
Reply:Your hamster might have a disease. Is his or her teeth growing up if so he or she has a disease and they usually die.Theirs no cure for it sorry.
Reply:no possible way to fix his teeth to grow right but with you cliping them every week and proper chewing toys his teeth should stay normal enough as to there not puncturing his cheeks.
Reply:yess
Reply:you should try bring your hamster to a vet to see what the vet says.

Reply:Hamsters and other rodents have teeth that never stop growing. You will need to clip the tooth every time you see that it is longer than the other. If you let the tooth get too long, your hammie may not be able to eat. My grandpa had a squirrel that had the same problem and it lived for a long time. I would suggest that if you got the hammie from a store and it is still in the warranty, take it back. If not, the tooth will not shorten his life but you will have to clip it or else he will die.

I hope this helps you. Best wishes with your hammie.
Reply:I'm glad you noticed her misaligned teeth and are taking care of her properly! :)

Although, it's most likely going to be a life-long chronic problem. There is really no way to fix it. Just keep checking her teeth and trimming them when needed.
Reply:rodents typically grind their teeth or chew on things to keep their teeth from growing too long.

get it some chew toys for it to chew on - little wooden blocks, or a long stick made of treats that it can bite on.

My boyfriend has really bad teeth, and we are in the process of trying to fix them...but cannot afford it...?

My boyfriend is 26 and works for a company that requires him to go into very well-off people's house everyday, and this embarrasses him because of his teeth. The total for all the work he needs is about $17,000...but the first part of the process is the most important and it is imperative that it gets done soon (extract 9 teeth, including 4 wisdoms) this is about $2500. However, both of us are already in a lot of debt, and cant afford to finance it. Does anyone know of any charitable organizations in the Sacramento, CA area who would be willing to help? you can reply to this question, or contact me @ kaylathayer2004@yahoo.com...any and all help or referrals would be highly appreciated.

My boyfriend has really bad teeth, and we are in the process of trying to fix them...but cannot afford it...?
So you go to a university that has a hospital affifiation, or a dental school. My husband has limited dental plan and needed oral surgery. The consultation alone was 1200, and 2500 for the surgery to pull a tooth with the roots in his jaw. So anyway the university dental program has an instructor and student do it for a mere 225. Check there at your university dental dept for a referral.
Reply:come to minnesota and get it done. Its less than half of the money u mentioned.
Reply:A lot of people go out of the country for dental work. In Nicaragua you can get 2 teeth extracted and a few crowns for about $30.

Maybe try a dental school nearby.

Or.... my best idea... either you or him try to get in good with a dentist and suck up for a while... they might help you :)

My son has really bad teeth. He is 3 and a half and already has a crown and 2 fillings.?

I do everything the dentist tells me. He always brushed his teeth because it was horrible for him to go through the whole dentist thing, and he is terrified. But today like a layer of tooth came off and he still has cavities that need filling. What Am i doing wrong!!!

Someone please help. I am so scared to go to the dentist. He was in hysterics the whole time,

My son has really bad teeth. He is 3 and a half and already has a crown and 2 fillings.?
Well...3 is young to be brushing his teeth on his own. A child does not have the dexerity of an adult until around the age of 8, so he's not able to brush as well as you can.

We have always suggested that the child brush their teeth first (so they are learning good "the habit"), THEN mommy gets to brush for after! The child is learning good habits, and mom gets to ensure it's done properly.

Next, it's always important to floss...always. No matter what age a child is. It's not the most fun habit to teach...but it's usually forgotten. Getting your child in the habit of doing things every day, twice a day, is key to instilling proper hygiene for when they grow up.

Don't let your child eat or drink anything (with exception of water) afer they brush their teeth before bedtime. Permitting unbrushed teeth to settled during 10 hours of slumber is a bacteria's perfect dream...BUFFET!

Hopefully, taking these little steps will help you and your son. Try to keep it fun, and he will be interested. And don't beat yourself up...okay?
Reply:Wow, sounds like he has extra sensative teeth, maybe its time to go to a specialist
Reply:Get some listerine.
Reply:Lay off anything with sugar and that easily sticks to teeth. Some people are just born with an oral infection that has to just be maintained and moderated.
Reply:maybe it's the stuff he's eating. maybe he's eating too much candy, sugary stuff.
Reply:I had the same problem with my kids

I have full coverage dental insurance but seeing them put asleep to get a filling and to be in agony after made me very upset

I wonder if today some dentists aren't making mountains out of molehills

Afterall they are baby teeth and as long as they look OK and my children are in no pain...I'm not willing to put them through that again

Hope that helped
Reply:Why would he put fillers on a 3 year old? Your child still has to lose baby teeth, so why not just let them fall out and new ones grow in? It doesn't make sense to me.
Reply:Sometimes this just happens. My 2nd child had this problem. She lost her 2 front teeth at the age of 3! No front teeth till the permanent ones came in! It sounds like you are doing all you can. Except maybe try a kid dentist for him to help till his permanent ones come in. Hopefully, his permanent will be nice like my childs came in. All nice and straight and white.
Reply:It's ok. This is a very common thing in life. You see, when two people have a child and are related, the kid usally ends up like a poor quality house. All broken down, and weak. Tell you sister that the next time you guys should maybe try protection!!!
Reply:Make sure he drinks a lot of milk and keep way from sugar at all costs. Milk builds strong bones %26amp; TEETH. I have not had any caivites (knock on wood) because i've always brush my teeth with CRESt cavity protection. Hopefully I helped you some, get some other opinions too.
Reply:my son had the same problem he had to get the two front teeth out when he was three but now his got prefect teeth his 11 now .You just have to be brave and try to reinsure him that its ok. hope everything goes alright for you and your son
Reply:my son had same thing, he was 2 with rotten teeth, they said too much juice, the acid ate his teeth, another factor, genetics, my dads side of family all had bad rotten teeth, they all got dentures at young ages, not babys, but 20. my son still has problems, he won't go to dentists now due to having to go so young, he has 1 rotten tooth now. but check what I said, no juice, no bottles, none at night, it sits on their teeth, and check family history dental, plays a big part
Reply:cut back on sugar and make sure his teeth are brushed before bed and that he doesn't go to sleep with a bottle of milk or juice. Or for that matter make sure he isn't just walking around with a sippy cup constantly dripping sugar on his teeth. Try to stay away from foods that stick to teeth? Try having him rinse his mouth with water after he eats?
Reply:My 4 year old has the same problem. He has numerous cavities and has had two dental surgeries that involved a stay in the hospital. All of his front teeth are crowned. The thing is, he has an awesome dentist, and has no problem going. Look for a pediatric dentist and when you schedule the appointment tell them he has a acute situational fear of the dentist because of previous experiences. If they are any kind of good dentist, they will work with him to help him through it. After our last surgery, the dentist showed us how he was able to poke through my sons enamel with his dental tool. Stay on top of the problem, but chances are it is nothing you are doing wrong if you are helping him to brush and floss. We also put fluoride on his teeth with a Q-tip, but still have him spit because it can make them sick to their stomach. Good luck, there are good dentists out there!
Reply:has your dentist given you sugestions for his diet? i know that baby teeth will eventually come out, but if he doesnt learn to eat right now, he probably will never learn...

give him milk, jello really is great, belive it or not.. calcium pills also work...for adults too...

as far as him fearing the dentist, thats normal... even adults are scared....you need to be mom here, so hes crying? its better than going to the dentist 5 times, vrs 3 times if you feed him correct..i understand being broke, belive me....but you can get calcium pills thru the doc (nif your on medical) or youi can find calcium pills at your local discount grocer at 2 bucks a pop...the boy needs calcium, a strong momma, (that can get past the crys because she knows she cares about her baby boy first) and if all else fails, theres probaly a local food bank where yoiu can volunteer to get better foods...

you can do it, be strong like i know you are

ok, i just looked back at others responses, im telling THEBOY NEEDS CALCIUM!!! it also works if the pqarents do a bit of partying, crank robbs us of cacium. so partents who party, really need to simply change to eating jello when nothing else goes down, and calcium pills....

and you better know im not calling a dopefiend. im just saying this for parents that are
Reply:You might want to take at look at the sugar content of the food %26amp; drinks you are giving to your son; they put sugar on everything even in some types of milk %26amp; milk by itself has like 10 or more grams of sugar per serving. If your son drinks milk or juice right before sleeping the sugar will stay in contact with the teeh for the whole night %26amp; that will cause

Babies who go to bed with a bottle of milk, formula or juice are more likely to get tooth decay. Because the sugar in formula, milk or juice stays in contact with the teeth for a long time during the night, the teeth can decay quickly.

Check the links below, they might help you to add more preventive actions that will keep your son away from the dentist.

Good luck!
Reply:The first thing that comes to mind is wondering if you're drinking water is fluoridated or if you're letting him drink bottled water.

Fluoride is critical in strengthening enamel and preventing cavities. If you're giving him bottled water, see if your grocer has fluroidated bottled water. Or, give your son tap water, if it is fluoridated. You can call your local water department to find out.

The second thing is to stay away from juices and sugar. Before bed, give him water to drink instead of milk or juice.

Keep him brushing after every meal and just before bed. Is he brushing his own teeth, or are you doing it for him? Kids aren't really supposed to be "good" at brushing and flossing their own teeth until about age 10. Maybe you need to go over his teeth with the brush when he's done just to make sure he's removed all the food and plaque.
Reply:Be sure to stay away from sticky foods such as fruit chews. Avoid soda's of all kinds........even diet soda's that do not have sugar have acids. Avoid fruit drinks %26amp; sports drinks. Make sure to brush his teeth for 2 minutes each time if you can. I know sometimes it's hard to catch a 4 yr old for 2 minutes.......lol. Attempt to floss.......you can get little individual flossers for kids......he might like the dinosaur shape ones =). Perhaps he should see a Pediatrican instead of a General Dentist. Ask the pediatrican if perhaps he needs fluoride supplements. NO drinks at bedtime except water =)

Dental care, bad teeth and brits?

A few times now i have heard about the brits and there so called dental care, we all have 1 or 2 teeth left and there falling out.

can i ask where this rumour started and also about Deamonte Driver

Dental care, bad teeth and brits?
I think the reason that many Americans think that British people have bad teeth is that American dental care is done via insurance. In the UK we have to pay for it ourselves unless we are very lucky and have an NHS dentist (very thin on the ground) and even then we have to pay for it unless we're on benefits.

The Hollywood smile that is so popular in America is very expensive here. I had 2 teeth capped and it cost me £3000 which to put it into context is about 3 months rent in London. The whole mouth would be totally out of most people's price range.

Day to day dental care is improving in the UK but there is still a very real fear of the dentist from childhood for most people when dentists were pretty scary places to go.
Reply:We Brits look after our teeth as much as most of the rest of the world, which is with PRIDE. We all would like to have nice teeth but sadly for a lot of people the price of dental treatment is far too high and just can't afford it, but i have good teeth do you?
Reply:It's a well known fact that us brits have crap teeth compared to say the US. But i'd rather have a few crazy stonehenge smiles around than have everyone walking around with the "Donny Osmond" or "Jody Marsh" for gawds sake!

Now where's my red wine and black coffee............
Reply:I am pleased to say that I am nearly 30 and haven't got a single filling.

Please Help! I have really bad teeth...?

I want to kill myself. People think I am mean because I choose to stay quiet, and not show my teeth. They think I am pretty, because I've spent years working on everthing except what is really wrong-my teeth. They are deacying and ugly. I have insurance, but it will not cover anything that I need ($1,500/year). Almost all of my back teeth are decayed, so It's hard for me to eat. I have been petrified of dentist visits. Today I visited a dentist. He explained to me that I am a severe case, and was looking at maybe $15-$20k in bills.

I am ready to take the steps, ready for the pain...But short on cash.

I don't even mind television. I am just tired of being a walking embarrasement, the not-so-trophy wife. Does anyone know of any special insurance/ways to pay for something so much (in NYC).

Please Help! I have really bad teeth...?
First of all, congratulations on making the first step to fix your teeth!! That's pretty major.

Secondly, get a second opinion.

All dentists are different.

Do things in steps. First, get your teeth cleaned.

Then, get out all of the teeth that have decayed to the point of needing to be extracted.

Next, have root canals and crowns put on the teeth that need them. All of these things take time.

Have fillings put in the teeth that need them in between other procedures.

When your insurance is eaten up for the year, either wait for the next year to start another tooth, or call around and ask what different dentists charge for the same procedure. You'll be surprised at the difference!

Also, check local dental schools. Although it may be a little far away, the savings could be incredible.

If this all seems like too much, ask about dentures or a partial. Your dentist should be able to give you many options within your financial capabilities.

Best of luck to you!
Reply:Please go back to the dentist and have him fix the worst ones first. Sadly, this will be a long process, even with insurance. Believe me I am about halfway through getting all my teeth fixed and so far it's taken me 5 years to get my teeth looking halfway decent so I can smile a genuine smile with my teeth showing.

I was terrified of the dentist so I hadn't gone to see one for ten years. I finally found the right one who is sympathetic to my fears and doesn't yell at me for letting my teeth go for so long. I would eat and little pieces of tooth would break off even if I ate something soft. I was so embarrassed and ashamed of all the holes and partial teeth that I wouldn't smile or I would do the tight lipped smile with no teeth showing. I finally couldn't stand the constant pain and the depression I was feeling so I went to a dentist. The big picture of all that was wrong was highly expensive and overwhelming, but when the dentist broke it down into smaller parts it didn't seem too bad. Now I am going to the dentist once or twice a month to work on my teeth. But I am so much happier now that the worst parts are over. I don't want to take up too much time and space, but if you are interested in knowing more of my story, please email me at pinkrosesandpeace@yahoo.com

Reply:Hi, my company offers a perfect suppliment for your already exsisting dental plan. Formore info contact me.
Reply:Brush with a soft bristle brush after everything you eat. Use baking soda and hydrogen peroxide on the brush - not a lot, but enough that you can feel it on your gums. Your gums may feel irritated and may bleed at first, but keep doing it. The hydrogen peroxide is good for killing the bad bacteria. The baking soda is a stimulating agent for your gums and makes them grow. You need growth to keep your teeth from falling out.

Try to floss with flossing tape. It fits better between the teeth. If you are able to go way down into the gum line next to a tooth, this means that you have pockets in there where plaque has been allowed to grow uncontrollably. You may need scraping, but that is for the dentist to decide. Remember: be extra gentle when flossing and brushing so that you bleed as little as possible.

These two things will help you immensely if you keep at it. You have to be diligent about it.

Another that will help is what you put in your mouth. Do you smoke? If so, stop. Smoking is very bad for your mouth. Do you eat processed foods with sugar in them. Sugar is called by many names and you should read the ingredients on the label. Avoid sugar, including alcoholic products and all bread products. You will be surprised at how much sugar is in almost everything processed. Once you stop sugar, you will find that your gums are able to heal.

Was the discoloration caused by medicine? This is important, because it will tell how much restoration work has to be done. If your teeth have been this way for a long time, stay away from tooth whiteners, except by what the dentist recommends. He will be able to tell you how much enamel you have left.

Step by step, girl, you'll be ok, but you gotta' go slow.

Take Vitamin C, which helps your gums heal even faster. Then go see the dentist and do the first step on his list. Do only one thing of his at a time, 'cause otherwise, he'll take you to the po' house.
Reply:I was in a similar situation, others I know have been there as well. I suffered through years of endless toothaches and embarrassment because I didn't think I could afford to go to the dentist. While my dental work was not nearly as costly as what you describe, it was more than I could pay all at once. My insurance only covers $1000 a year. Most dentist offices will give you information about dental credit, but some people (like me) don't qualify. So what I did was get the most dental work I could get done up to the maximum my insurance would cover (getting the most urgent work done first). Then I waited until the new year and got more work done, again up to the max on my insurance. What's important is taking the steps to get the work done, no matter how long it takes.

$15-20k sounds like an awful lot. I would definitely check around your area to see what other dentists charge. If your teeth are really that severe, dentures might be your best option. They can be expensive, but they are covered by insurance, and you could get top or bottom done one year and the other the next year. Find a dentist who will work with you.

Good luck!
Reply:I had really bad teeth too. I had 2 partials already when I started high school and the teeth I had left kept crumbling and falling apart. I finally had all the rest pulled out and got full dentures when I turned 15 and I've never been sorry. Some people say I shouldn't have had all my teeth pulled out at that age but I couldn't afford to fix my teeth any other way and I couldn't take the pain of them breaking off any more. I like having my dentures and I like how they look, even if they do sleep in a different room than I do..
