Reply:You can keep your teeth strong by drinking more milk or anything that has calcium. Your teeth are bones. If your bone is strong your teeth will be too.
Reply:There is still hope. You just have to be very precautionary with your dental hygiene. Also tell your dentist your fears so they can be proactive.
Reply:Crooked teeth can run in a family, just like overbites can (and mine did). I got the braces, so that%26#039;s all fixed up, but chances are, my kids will have them, too.
Reply:Crest Whitestrips are excellent
Reply:Yes they do, but you can to dentist who specialized in cosmatic teeth? It%26#039;s a Sh** load of money though.
Reply:whitning stripes and for braces it costs around $4000 to $6000 it depends on ur teeth get them chaaecked out
Reply:I%26#039;m not sure exactly how it works but it seems pretty common that people with bad teeth have that in common with their parents. I%26#039;m not sure how much braces cost but as for the whitening, I use Listerine Whitening Rinse along with a whitening toothpaste. I%26#039;ve heard good things about Crest White Strips that worked well for my cousin. They are a bit expensive though.
Reply:Yes u can inherit teeth fr ur parents. I did. The best way to find out about prices is to call several dentist offices and compare prices, or go online. Drug stores sell several diff teeth whitening kits. Look down the isles that have tooth brushes, and tooth paste. Good luck.
Reply:bad teeth are a combo of nutrition AND heredity. dentists will tell you sometimes there%26#039;s just a %26quot;weak tooth%26quot; in the bunch (some poeple they are all weak) others have steel chompers. the fix $$ depends on how much is wrong, and I have seen people who%26#039;ve used the crest whitestrips w/ great results. (my teeth aren%26#039;t straight enough for the whitestrips, I%26#039;m afraid of un-whitened spots) I want to try the aquafresh trays but haven%26#039;t tried %26#039;em yet %26#039;cause they%26#039;re $35
Reply:it depends on how bad your teeth are %26amp; what%26#039;s needed to get them fixed.

%26amp; you don%26#039;t need to get your teeth whitened proffesionaly.

you can use crest whitening strips.

but my dentist told me that the walgreen whitening strips worked really well for one of her clients %26amp; they are like ten dollars cheaper.
Reply:Sure you can %26quot;inherit%26quot; the potential for crooked, weak, or any physical characteristic of our teeth but most likely we %26quot;learn%26quot; bad oral hygiene and do not visit the dentist as we should causing the teeth we have to %26quot;go bad%26quot;.

%26quot;How much is it to get your teeth fixed%26quot; is a dependent question much like %26quot;How much is a car?%26quot;. The answer would depend on what is wrong with the teeth and what do you want fixed. It%26#039;s best to avoid those teeth whiteners until you have had your teeth checked and cleaned first.
Reply:Two ways bad teeth are hereditary: crooked teeth caused from small jaw (which makes it hard and impossible to keep clean) or weak enamel.

Two ways of professional whitening: Trays with an initial cost of about $700 because an impression will have to be made so a customized tray can be made, then the chemicals amount to about half that cost, which is actually enough to whiten your teeth every six months for two years. Second way is with the lase light. This runs well over $1,000 but the results are stunning!!

Over the counter whitening: Crest has an ultimate care package for $30-40 that is getting rave reviews.
Reply:Bad teeth do run in families...i had two impacted teeth from my dad%26#039;s side which resulted in braces at age 17, 19 they came off due to the rapid decay of bone structure on my mom

s side. so now i am almost 23 years old and needing to get dentures....yeah sucks....you can only drink so much milk...oh yes my braces cost me almost 10 grand, plus a 1200 dollar surgery to uncover a tooth that wouldn%26#039;t come down...now it will cost 1900 to pull 29 teeth...don%26#039;t have wisdom teeth...and another 12 to pull one in the middle of the roof of my mouth...depending how bad your teeth are i would go straight to the dentures cus in the long run you save...although it is nicer to have your own teeth....if you go to the UofA dentistry building they can give you a consultation and it may be cheaper...my mouth was far to complicated....wish you luck
Reply:Bad teeth are past down from generations, because my grandad has teeth missing (they didnt fall out, they just never grew, so he had gaps) This was pasted down to my dad and then unfortunantly to me :( Dental work can cost alot, im hoping to get mine done soon!

Bad case of teeth-grinding?

Hey!

So I%26#039;ve been a bad teeth-grinder for a few years and it%26#039;s gotten to the point where some of my teeth are getting pretty sharp/pointy at the places where my grinding is wearing them down. Not only does my jaw hurt in the mornings, but my mouth also tastes ever so slightly of blood when I wake. My dentist is afraid that I%26#039;m going to grind my teeth down far enough that it will cause serious problems. All of the mouth-guards that I%26#039;ve tried so far are not helpful because they are uncomfortable enough that it%26#039;s hard to sleep, and when I do sleep I chew pretty much right through the mouthguard after a few months. I guess I%26#039;m just a nervous, fidgety, stressed person to begin with.

Is there anything I can do to get rid of this problem? I could keep trying mouthguards, but I%26#039;d really like something that could get to the root of the problem. What causes the grinding, mentally, and is there anything I can do calm down that part of the brain???

Thanks.

Bad case of teeth-grinding?
i clamp my jaws shut non stop, actually as i write this im doing it, i have to keep reminding myself to oven my jaws!

ive done alot of damage in my teeth already, 5 fillings, one got a crack right through so i had to get it pulled out, ouch

and its just getting worse, i find the more sleep i get the more relaxed i am

BUT its still not helping that much, i dunno what to do!!!

GOOD LUCK, im with ya
Reply:I had this problem too and I was told that teeth grinding is usually due to stress
Reply:Bruxism is when you clench or grind your teeth.

People can clench and grind subconsciously during both the day and night, although sleep-related bruxism is often the bigger problem because it is harder to control.

The cause of bruxism is not completely agreed upon, but daily stress may be the trigger in many people. Some people probably clench and never feel symptoms. Whether or not bruxism causes pain and other problems may be a complicated mix of factors -- how much stress you are under, how long and tightly you clench and grind, whether your teeth are misaligned, your posture, ability to relax, diet, sleeping habits, and other factors. Each person is probably different.
Reply:Go to the pharmacy and tell them what you are experiencing there is a product there and it is a soft plastic plate you can sleep with in your mouth so you cannot grind your teeth.
Reply:Try acupuncture. Have a friend with similar problem, she did the acupuncture and voila she stopped grinding and clenching her teeth. (she%26#039;s an acupuncturist)

What is considered to be "bad teeth"?

Like when a guy says %26quot;bad teeth%26quot; are a deal breaker? Does that mean missing teeth? snaggle tooth? I just wonder because I have a small space in between my front 2 teeth, and its not that my teeth are missing or anything its just a slight space, i just wondered if this is considered to be %26quot;bad teeth%26quot;

What is considered to be %26quot;bad teeth%26quot;?
I guess it%26#039;s kinda relative. You might not have perfect teeth but I don%26#039;t think they%26#039;re bad. Jewel has that snaggle tooth but her teeth aren%26#039;t that bad. They seem pretty healthy. Bad teeth to me means they%26#039;re yellow/crooked/big gaps/missing some teeth. If you%26#039;ve gaps where you%26#039;re missing teeth, you kinda look like a hillbilly and that would probably be a deal breaker.
Reply:I don%26#039;t think a slight space is considered bad. If they are really crooked ,yellow, or rotten, that%26#039;s bad.

Plant question

Do bad teeth run in the famlies?

My wife%26#039;s teeth are rotting out of her mouth. She says they are bad because she inherited her Grand father%26#039;s teeth. His teeth were pulled then dentured at young age of 25. She also blamed steroids she was on when they thought she had MS. Is any of this possible, or does she just practice poor dental hygine? (she does drink alot of colas everyday)

Do bad teeth run in the famlies?
It sounds like a combination of problems, poor hygiene habits, genetics and possible medication and/or illness. She should get in to see her dentist and discuss this with him. Better to change your oral hygiene habits sooner versus later. Brushing for 2 minutes 3 times a day, flossing a few times a day, using a mouthwash. Cola is terrible for teeth, but if she must have it, then tell her to try to brush afterwards or at least drink water afterwards. I hope that this helps and good luck to you two!
Reply:you%26#039;re welcome Report It

Reply:bad teeth doesnt run in families...bad teeth habits can, though
Reply:The cola%26#039;s couldnt help. But yes, weak teeth can be blamed on genetics. My husband has the same case.
Reply:definitely bad hygiene,

if she takes care of them then there should be no logical explanation for them to be rotting.

My parents have pretty bad teeth, but that is because they come from another country and they barely got dentist checkups as kids. My teeth are very healthy and bright though, they were strong enought to endure braces and they are whiter than my parents%26#039;.

it is all about how you take care of them, she is probably not doing something, like brushing regularly and drinking too much soda, eating candy and stuff.
Reply:Does she brush her teeth or use listerine? Those two things can stop bad teeth. My mom had her teeth replaced at a young age as well, but it was SOLELY because she didnt take care of them. I bet she isnt taking very good care of them either... I brush my teeth twice a day, and use mouth wash, and floss... and my teeth HAVE NEVER EVER had problems.
Reply:All the factors you mention could affect your wife%26#039;s dental health. There are certainly genetic factors that could give a person stronger or weaker enamel (the protective outer coating of the teeth); if her mother had a calcium deficiency when she was pregnant, that could have resulted in your wife%26#039;s teeth not developing the necessary strength to remain healthy through her life. Drinking high sugar colas can deteriorate the enamel. And certain medications are bad for the teeth.
Reply:It can be but It is more likely to be the 2 together poor hygiene and genetics.
Reply:No, But I believe that diarrhea is hereditary...it runs in your jeans
Reply:Yes, bad teeth do run in families. All of my grandparents had dentures. My father got an upper-plate when he was in his early 20s. My mom got her dentures in her 40s. I religiously brush and floss several times a day and I have for years, but I%26#039;m the next candidate for dentures in our family.
Reply:you have answered this yourself colas =sugar=decay tell her to use a toothbrush or she will be sucking apples than biting them ugh
Reply:sometimes, my grangfather had very poor teeth, i have very poor teeth! but you do have to take care of them!
Reply:no
Reply:Bad teeth aren%26#039;t inherited in any way, unless like you said she just has poor dental hygiene habits. But a Dentist can only tell... Because let me tell you something I am a chocolate, caffeine %26amp; sweets addict and still the only time I have to go to the dentist was for my twice a year cleaning.
Reply:It is probably a combination of the two. Weaker teeth can be genetic but rotting is due to poor hygiene. If she knows her teeth are week she should not drink soda. The acid is soda weakens teeth. Also, she should brush at least twice a day (I brush 3 times a day) and floss daily. Mouthwashing would help as well. She should definitely see a dentist so they can assess the situation and advise her as to how to prevent losing all of her teeth.
Reply:Certain characteristics that lead to bad teeth can run in families (e.g. excessive plaque production, weaker bones). I know I%26#039;m lucky to have my dad%26#039;s teeth and not my mom%26#039;s. The soda will play a HUGE part in her tooth decay. H-U-G-E, especially if other members of her family were prone to tooth decay. She may have inherited some obstacles to healthy teeth, but she could cultivate good dental hygiene practices to avoid the same problems.
Reply:she%26#039;s your wife, you should have some idea about her hygine and how well she takes care of her teeth. Make sure she brushes her teeth every morning and every night and flosses regularly. Have her see a dentist and stop drinking sodas and then if her teeth continue to worsen you can chalk it up to heredity.
Reply:Since I have a carbon copy of my mother%26#039;s bad teeth, I would tend to say yes. B.
Reply:The colas aren%26#039;t helping any but yes bad teeth are inherited. My break into little pieces all the time and so do my cousins and sisters.
Reply:Yes, the propensity for bad teeth can be inherited. She needs to be especially hygenic. By the way, I like your avatar!! Wow!
Reply:The colas can%26#039;t be helping...I hope a doctor answers, because I am not sure if teeth can be hereditery, but I think they are.

Good luck...
Reply:i had recently taken my 1 1/2 year old to the oediodontist because of discoloration on one of her molars. The y explained to me that teeth are genetic but that it runs in the mothers side of the family. so what ever her mothers teeth were like is what her teeth would be like. but if they are taken care of it can be avoioded. on the other hand some people just believe that if one of their family members have bad teeth then there is nothing they can do about it so why should they try. As it turned out my daughter has discoloration on her teeth because of nebulzer treatment she had as an infant. She has asthma and before babies teeth come in, the albuterol treatments can cause the teeth to rot before they come in. So there is another warning. just to let you know, i don%26#039;t know why.
Reply:You teeth are essentially bone. And almost everything physically related to the human body follows through the family genetics. Its a hit and miss type thing. You could ened up with the weak gene being dominant or with the stronger gene being dominant. Its luck of the draw. My family has a history of having bad teeth, crooked twisted and weak, my sister inherited the crooked teeth, but braces fixed that, and I inherited weak enamel, but have perfectly straight teeth. You can overcome some of these issues, like my sister getting braces and my 6 month enamel treatment, but genetics are genetics.
Reply:It%26#039;s most probably a combination of all the things you mentioned and add to the mix lack of dental care. I have inherited %26quot;soft%26quot; teeth and even though I%26#039;ve had access to dental care all of my life 3 years ago I had to have $7,000. worth of work done, and that only took care of my top teeth. I now have to have extensive work on the bottom teeth. Keep in mind, also that my teeth do, and have always, looked perfect, although there were many underlying problems. I have always gotten compliments on my smile and teeth, but they weren%26#039;t %26quot;healthy%26quot; teeth, gums, bone. I also know from my sister who has MS the damage the meds cause the teeth. She, unfortunately, had to have all of them pulled and she now has dentures. So, don%26#039;t put the blame solely on your wife%26#039;s irresponsibility. These things can happen. Good luck and you just have to accept the fact that her dental health is going to come at a huge price. Sorry, have lived it and it%26#039;s not fun nor cheap. It%26#039;s an ongoing, major expense for us.
Reply:absolutely not. baldness and skin color are inherited.

your wife%26#039;s problems are a combination of problems all related to the bacteria in her mouth. for starters, ask her if she ever has a dry mouth. i can already tell you the answer is yes and the cause is her medicine. saliva is natures way of cleaning the bugs off of your teeth and without it your teeth head south quickly. and like most people with a dry mouth she uses her favorite drink to moisten her mouth. and like most people, she reaches for high octane bacteria food: soda! this is similar to putting out a fire with gasoline. and finally, she has ignorantly accepted her destiny of losing teeth so she probably isn%26#039;t too diligent with her hygiene since, to her, she is fighting an uphill, losing battle anyway.

the combination of these factors has led to her dental demise. it is sad that people blame their relatives though.
Reply:Sometimes a lack of calcification runs in families, also absents of some teeth.

But oral Hygiene, flossing, use of mouthwash and regular visits to the dentist can make up for it
Reply:To some extent they do. I never had braces and have perfectly straight teeth. That is inherited. At the same time, my father had severe gum disease and had to have all of his teeth pulled in his 30s. All six of his children still have all of their teeth and our ages range from 36-56. However, 2 of my brothers did not go to the dentist at all while in their 20s, both of them have periodontal disease, although not as seriously as my father.

Soda rots teeth. My husband has horrible teeth. If you do not get fluoride treatments regularly during your formative years, your teeth are more prone to decay. Drinking soda just makes this situation worse.
Reply:YES,IT IS CALLED GENETICS.
Reply:Chronic use of steroids can cause dental problems. It is all the more important to practice excellent oral hygiene, but she may be able to blame the medicine...
Reply:Maybe she is embarrassed about her teeth so uses the given excuses above. She really should be looking after them no matter what. Perhaps, you can gently persuade her to go to the dentist for some advice and treatment.

Bad teeth? turn off?

ok i dont have really bad teeth but some ppl think its a turn off to have crooked yellow teeth and some people dont mind. whats ur opinion?

Bad teeth? turn off?
i think bad teeth are awful. i cant say mine are the prettiest but when a guy has bad teeth i certainly wouldnt want to kiss him. sorry. but thats just from a strangers prospective. im sure if you were friends with someone or they got to know you, that it wouldnt bother them
Reply:I think its a bit of a turn off

**Just being honest**
Reply:I think it%26#039;s a major turnoff. Bad teeth usually equals smokign habits, alcoholism and just plain laziness. And it is definitley not an attraction to women or men either!
Reply:Your %26quot;friend%26quot; who has bad teeth should just find someone else who has bad teeth, and then %26quot;their%26quot; gingivitis and tooth tartar can fester together in holy matrimony.
Reply:TURN WAAAAAY OFF beacuase there mouth might smell bad or it turns off the face... http://www.mikesjournal.com/October%2020...
Reply:How do you feel about them? Teeth can always be fixed. It%26#039;s like you said, some people mind them and some people don%26#039;t.
Reply:I have white crooked teeth and I think I%26#039;m an Individual......so no.
Reply:Yeah that%26#039;s really a turn off. The yellow teeth could have been eaisly stopped by using a toothbrush, toothpaste and a lil water and mouthwash
Reply:if they are crooked i can deal with it (sumtimes) cuz thats a little harder to fix... but yellow, eww... whiten them! it doesnt take that long to clean you teeth everyday! thats just bad hygene.
Reply:crooked it okay but yellow eeww
Reply:i think its disgusting
Reply:Yellow!
Reply:i think crooked white teeth are better than straight yellow teeth. sometimes crooked teeth add to someone%26#039;s character. i know a couple guys that have messed up grills but are really cute. maybe just try some tooth whitener but if you really want straight teeth you could look into the invisilign braces.
Reply:I think one should take the best care of their teeth as possible. A smile is one of the first things a people sees when they see you. Also bad teeth can be a sign of or symptom of bad health. Try to make time to visit your dentist regularly. But I still wouldn%26#039;t let the appearance of your teeth deter me from counting you as a friend

Causes for bad/breaking teeth?

Okay so since I was little, I have always had bad teeth. I went to the dentist every six months, brushed, flossed got fluoride but I always had cavities. Since I have become an adult, I have had major problems particularly that my teeth keep breaking. And it isn%26#039;t like I am gnawing on a bone or something; they have broken on things like a hamburger or chicken breast. This week I had the cap break in half on one of my teeth that had broken years earlier on cereal (CEREAL!!!). Now I have to have a new cap on it and a root canal. I have had many other root canals, an apicoectomy, two abscessed teeth where I had to have a second root canals...the list goes on and on! I read on one post here that there may be some kind of disease that causes weak teeth...anyone knows the name of this disease or any other suggestions as to my dental woes? As dental insurance SUCKS, it seems like I may have to take out a second loan on my house to pay for this so any info would help.

Causes for bad/breaking teeth?
The problems your having can be due to anyone of a number of issues or a combination of some. First, if your a Diabetic that could explain the problems your dealing with. Second, it could also be an issue of medication your mom took while carrying you. If she took any of the %26quot;Myicins%26quot; during that time frame it could explain your tooth issues. Some children after birth developed teeth without enamel due to Mom taking a Myicin type medication. Also, if you are chronically depleted of the proper amount of calcium in your body, that can be an issue. First, you need to see an MD and get a complete blood scan. You specifically want to check on blood sugar and calcium issues. Please do this ASAP....
Reply:Are you British?

Thanks for clarifying that you are not British. Actually, my answer would be the same no matter what.

How about immediate family? A lot of issues with teeth can be passed down (my family has %26quot;soft%26quot; teeth as the dentist says). It is also possible that your enamel is weakened and allows tiny pores on the surface of the teeth to grow gradually, thus allowing cavities chips and cracks over a period over time, even if you are a good brusher and flosser. Has the dentist been able to assess the blood flow and nerves?
Reply:Other than bad teeth, diet may be a factor.

Lots of sweets and soda (diet or not)?

Get of rid of the diet factor and you may not have brittle teeth.

There are genetic disorders such as amelogenesis imperfecta and dentinogenesis imperfecta. These are genetic so that other members in the family, mom and dad, and children may have them. These are easily diagnosed with routine x-ray and visual examination.

Otherwise, the likely cause is diet.
Reply:I dont have ansers - but I can sure relate. I am in the same exact situation!!

Kissing a person with bad teeth?

I asked this before and didn%26#039;t get many answers, so I%26#039;m asking again.

I%26#039;ve had a crush on a guy for about 7 months. I was too shy to tell him I liked him, so a friend did it for me. He played hard to get for about a month and a half after he found out I liked him. On Friday, we had a conversation for the 1st time ever and made plans to go on a date. I noticed that he has a jacked up grill aka bad teeth. I really, really, REALLY like him. He dresses well, he%26#039;s such a sweetheart and I know that my mom will like him, unlike all of my ex boyfriends. I have a big thing about men and their teeth. I desperately want to look the other way, but it will be hard.

Has anyone ever been in this situation? I know people have bad teeth for various reasons, but my goodness! He has yellow teeth (not dingy yellow, so I can deal with that) and there%26#039;s a black spot on one of his front teeth. To kiss or not to kiss? That is the question!

Kissing a person with bad teeth?
Well, I personally am a big stickler for teeth so I would have a hard time getting past that. But as long as he doesn%26#039;t have bad breath and it looks like he at least brushes them, then maybe it won%26#039;t be too bad. Not sure I could go there tho.
Reply:it may be kindly for her and then you helped someone. Report It

Reply:Yes, I thought my bf %26#039;grill%26#039; was also %26#039;jacked up%26#039; when I met him but now I think his teeth are really nice. You%26#039;ll grow to love them if the relationship works out. Report It

Reply:Do NOT kiss. Yuck.
Reply:Dont kiss him I think you just might be grossed out if you do
Reply:I would run
Reply:I wouldn%26#039;t be able to kiss him. No way. Tell him that you have a wonderful dentist and you can make an appointment for him.

He is going to lose his teeth, otherwise.
Reply:Don%26#039;t kiss them at all. The british are bad kissers.
Reply:This is way on up there on my gross-out-meter. I just don%26#039;t think I could french a guy with nasty teeth. Ick. This is something that you might not be able to get past. A black spot? Oooohh. That just gives me cold chills.

If you think it is worth it, you can tell him about the GREAT dentist you go to and suggest he make an appointment.
Reply:eww! you seem to be in a predicament there...you need to search yourself for the strength to kiss him.....can you honestly feel good about introducing him to your friends or mother without people thinking...man that dudes got bad teeth...and i bet his breath stinks....lol
Reply:errrrr...erm just try talking to him about teeth somehow, and that you brush yours everyday and that its important to you(don%26#039;t know how that will fit in a convo!), then he might get the picture and then after about a month kiss him!

And if he doesn%26#039;t get the message hes dumb and you don%26#039;t want to go out with him
Reply:having a yellow set of teeth doesn%26#039;t mean he/she has a bad breath...check the factors...perhaps he%26#039;s a smoker...or a coffee addict...or simply that%26#039;s his real teeth...after all u don%26#039;t kiss his teeth do u?..

My crush has bad teeth!?!?

So, I%26#039;ve had a crush on this guy for months. My friend told him that I had a crush on him and after a month and a half of him playing hard to get, I found out that he likes me too. Today, we actually had a conversation for the first time in the 7 months I%26#039;ve been drooling over him and I noticed that he has bad teeth. I don%26#039;t know his exact age yet, but he is in my age bracket (early-mid 20s) and since I take care of my teeth, I would expect the men I date to do the same.

Regardless, I still really like him because he%26#039;s such a cute guy and he is so sweet. I don%26#039;t know if I can get over the teeth situation.

I know some people have bad teeth for various reasons (health reasons, poor hygiene, etc.), but since I like him so much do you guys think I should just overlook this? Has anyone else ever been in a similar situation? I need advice! Thanks :)

My crush has bad teeth!?!?
I think you should try to overlook this. Its a tiny flaw and he probably has other good qualities that will compensate for his bad teeth. Also, he is probably self concious about it. He could have been afraid you would stop liking him once you saw his teeth. Im sure it would be refreshing for him to realize that there are people out there that dont care about minor physical flaws.
Reply:If you can%26#039;t stand looking at his teeth its an issue. You might ask him if his job has dental insurance. A lot of people are scared to death of the dentist and there is all kinds of dentists out there that put a patient at ease. At 20 he has all kinds of options. its not healthy to have bad teeth.. are they just crooked or yellow or what your not very specific.
Reply:ohhhh thats a toughy.......im kinda shallow........so i would see how the sex is first....if thats bad...thats 2 things...so i would move on!!...hahhaha good luck!!!

Bad acne or bad teeth whats worse?

what is worse in your opinion bad acne or bad teeth? please be nice in your responces thank you in advance :)

Bad acne or bad teeth whats worse?
Acne is such a horrible condition for anyone to have as you have to face the world every day feeling different/unattractive. My son who is 17and really handsome (IMHO) suffered from acne for 2 years. He was so upset and the doctor eventually referred him to the dermatologist who put him on Roaccutane for six months. There are side effects but, boy, it was worth it!

His skin cleared up within weeks and his face is peachy and clear.

Bad teeth is usually a sign of neglect on the other hand. If you look after your teeth, you can have a lovely smile. Having acne is not a sign of neglect.
Reply:I%26#039;d say bad acne... Wait no! Bad teeth... Yeah bad teeth. It%26#039;s cheaper and easier to get rid of the acne rather than getting good results for your teeth.
Reply:bad acne, because teeth you can do something about, but acne is really hard to cover up
Reply:I would rather have bad acne...because bad teeth are no picnic let me assure you.
Reply:u can always get fake teeth But if no acne crap works then ur screwed
Reply:Both are bad. But both can be cured/corrected. Proper hygiene do wonders.

I have really bad teeth?

I am 14 years old but my teeth are so bad! It%26#039;s not like %26quot; go to dentist and get a filling%26quot; because I don%26#039;t think dentists can fill holes this big. My teeth are so horribe and on the tops they are all black. The holes in them are huge like they take up the whole tooth and they are really deep holes too. Basically what can I do? I dont think brushing teeth will help. They are like this because ive only ever been taken to the dentist once in my life and because when i was younger i couldnt be bothered to brush my teeth, and as i got older and i looked at them i thought it was too late and i never bothered. If i could have my teeth back again though i would look after them really well! I%26#039;m only 14 and my teeth really depress me :(

I have really bad teeth?
Oh, honey... I am sooo sorry.

Your parents should have taken care of this way before it started. You should have been taken to the dentist! At least you would have been instructed and monitored as to your tooth health. Now it may be a little too late, but you still have to go. A dentist can help you. If your parents don%26#039;t do anything about it, call around to some dentists yourself. You may find one that will take pity on you and decide to help you for free. If not, call your local Health Department or Family Children Services and tell them your situation. Their job is to help out in these situations. This needs to be taken care of. Don%26#039;t ignore it any longer!! DO SOMETHING before it%26#039;s way too late. Good luck and God bless you.
Reply:get verners, they are tops which go over your teeth. I have them, they look great
Reply:just go the dentist yourself or ask your parents to take you.

sounds like youve got lots of problems matey..best go soon whilst your young enough not to have to pay.
Reply:What you now have is the result of your neglect. Eventually you will have to do something about them the pain will get so bad

Since you are now aware that you have a problem, why don%26#039;t you go to see a Dentist, and let him decide what can be done. When you were younger, you thought you new all about it, now that you are older let the Professional decide what can be done , and then follow through with it. Best wishes, and a Happy New Year
Reply:Typical lesson for those requiring help , take care of them from the start
Reply:Its not too late.

Go to the dentist, and you can be helped.

Bad teeth and overall health?

My best friend has two molars that have actually begun to decay and turn black. She hasn%26#039;t gone to see a dentist yet because she claims to have a dental phobia. However, in the past two years or so since she has told me about her teeth getting bad, she has been diagnosed with high blood pressure and an overexcited nervous system where her fingers often jiggle or tremor. She hasn%26#039;t mentioned her tooth problem to her doctor either. Is there a correlation between teeth %26quot;rotting%26quot; and other aspects of a person%26#039;s health, such as heart health and nervous system health? And where can I get more information on the web to convince her that there may be a connection?

Bad teeth and overall health?
The state of your teeth and gums reveals a lot about your health. Bad teeth can cause bad health and bad health causes bad teeth.
Reply:OFCOURSE!
Reply:Yes, they go hand in hand. The best thing to do is visit your dentist, explain your friends situation and see if the dentist can give you phamplets and/or articles/booklets for your friend and read them with her. Explain your concern and tell her you will go with her and hold her hand the entire time if she needs!
Reply:Yes abscess teeth can cause heart problems look in web md it can give you further tell your friend most dentists now have methods for people who dont like going they are all trained to handle this.
Reply:YES! I have a heart murmer and need to be on antibiotics for a couple of days before any dental procedure. But I just went through something that scared the heck out of me. I had a toothache. Knowing I couldn%26#039;t afford to get to the dentist right away as I have no dental insurance, I went to the doctor to get an antibiotic and something for the pain. The very next day the infection apparently had spread through my bloodstream and I was VERY sick. For almost a week I couldn%26#039;t get out of bed and I was pretty much incoherent. But I was so out of it I didn%26#039;t think to go to the doctor. I found out AFTER the fact that my doctor thinks my blood pressure got dangerously low, causing me to be extremely tired. Apparently every time I get any type of infection, my blood pressure drops. (I didn%26#039;t know this but my doc looked over my charts and noticed it.) The point is, the toothache wasn%26#039;t even that bad, but the infection spread to my bloodstream literally overnight. It can happen %26amp; it can become very dangerous. I took penicillin for 10 days with no improvement in the infection (my face was very swollen %26amp; I still felt horrible) and was prescribed another antibiotic (I forgot which one now) for another 14 days. It took until I was about midway through the 2nd one before I saw marked improvement and started to feel better. If the 2nd one didn%26#039;t work, I was going to be hospitalized. My point is that yes, bad teeth can cause SEVERE health problems. And being sick (or pregnant) can wreak havoc on your teeth. Good health and good oral hygeine go hand in hand. Please try to get your friend to go to the dentist and get those teeth fixed or removed before it really starts affecting her. Take it from me. After my ordeal was all said %26amp; done, I did research and found out just how bad off I was. I could have died from an abscess tooth. Now that%26#039;s just scary...

Bad Teeth in England?

I heard that the people in England have bad teeth. Please describe how are they bad. Do their teeth stain a lot from drinking tea? Are they crooked?etc.

Bad Teeth in England?
What is essentially a myth about Brits (English) having %26#039;bad teeth%26#039; starts with the outbreak of the Second World War when almost all British dentists were called up to serve in the British armed forces, either in their specialism, or to be trained as anaesthetists in surgical units. As a consequence, the few dentists left in the UK were either retired people brought back into practice, or those who were too old for military service. This meant that dental treatments on offer to ordinary people were restricted to emergency work, and the usual annual inspection, extractions and fillings . Dental health, especially for children, was promoted, but no cosmetic work was, or indeed could be offered. Hence children from, say, 1939 to the late 1950s had teeth which were healthy, but had rarely been cosmetically corrected. Thus, a generation of young people grew up with less than a perfect smile. In their later years, many of these people sought appropriate treatment and ended up (rather belatedly!) with %26#039;perfect%26#039; teeth. But others, for what ever reason, e.g., lack of money (don%26#039;t forget that the UK was absolutely on its knees economically following WW2), or because they had other priorities, did not bother with %26#039;vanity%26#039; dental work. Thus the legend grew that _all_ British people had (and still have) crooked/bad teeth.

This is patently not true, of course, but such stories linger on, especially amongst Americans, since it was probably returning US servicemen who started the story after encounters with the %26#039;Got any gum chum?%26#039; little English kids!

However, I can compare the teeth of the young members of the American side of my family with those of my British family, and I can%26#039;t see any difference in their teeth. However, where I _do_ see a difference is in the unnaturally perfect front teeth of some American TV newscasters, whose veneered and capped teeth flash like ice caps in the Arctic sunshine every time they speak. I don%26#039;t think many sane Brits would want to look like that - even if it did help to lay to rest the myth to which your question alluded! As far as having %26#039;tea stained%26#039; teeth is concerned, believe it or not, toothpaste is available in the UK - and, in any case, coffee is now the preferred drink!
Reply:Nice to dispel yet another myth about England! Note to Dr Sam: NHS dentist contracts were amended to the (perceived) detriment of practitioners, so 90% left the NHS. Now most of us have to have expensive dental insurance! Report It

Reply:i worked as a dental nurse and there were alot of kids from all mixed races with vary bad teeth, which meant that they ended having them extracted and then as they grew ended up having braces to straighten them out.

adults as young as 20 are wearing crowns and dentures. its bad and theres alot of conflict with nhs with treatment
Reply:I just thought it was from eating all that English Hereford beef?tuff stuff!
Reply:its true that there is a common(mis-)beleif that the english do not take very good care of thier teeth. my husband however is originally from england and his teeth are absolutely gorgeous!!!
Reply:Wow, avian, this is the first time I%26#039;ve heard a plausible explanation and I%26#039;m going to remember to come back and vote yours as the best answer.

We have to add, though, that the deplorable NHS has done a lot to perpetuate the belief that you can%26#039;t have decent teeth in England. My British patient - the dental hygienist who comes to see me in the USA twice a year for her own cleanings - tells me that more and more dentists in the UK are leaving the NHS and going private. There must be a reason.

Can bad teeth lead to other health problems? How to fix?

My best friend has REALLY bad teeth, most have already rotted out. The ones that are left are no more than little stubs. I keep trying to get her to go to the dentist to get something done but she claims cost and embarrassment is holding her back. Can%26#039;t bad teeth lead to other health problems? What can be done to fix her teeth now that they are in this condition?

Can bad teeth lead to other health problems? How to fix?
If her teeth are as bad as you are saying, she probably also has periodontal disease.

And, yes. Periodontal disease can lead to other health problems. Cardiovascular diseases such as strokes and heart diseases are some, and women with periodontal disease are more likely to give birth to low weight babies.

Someone above me mentioned that your friend may need implants. More than likely, if she is unable to care for her teeth, she will not be a candidate for implants. A dentist will want to see that she can take care of her mouth before he even thinks about implants.

She needs to see the dentist, and possibly a periodontist. Poor oral health can most definitely lead to poor physical health.
Reply:If your teeth are rotting out it is due to an infection somewhere. and this infection can spread to other places in your body. Also, it can effect your attitude, and lead to depression, if you don%26#039;t want to smile. i would strongly recomend getting dentures, or if she still has some teeth still left, getting veneers. This sounds really sad, sorry for her.
Reply:Dentures or dental implants at this point, but implants are pricy.

Bad teeth can lead to a HOST of very serious problems, including heart damage.

Please encourage her to get help right away...
Reply:Yes, she has to see a dentist, though it almost seems too late.decayed teeth can lead to brain infection,if it goes on long enough, and will generally cause much pain.
Reply:Yes,definitely will lead toother health problems.Better to consult a good dentist immideately. None can help except a good dentist.
Reply:uncared for teeth definitely lead to other health problems. that%26#039;s why it%26#039;s so maddening that dental care isn%26#039;t included in so many health plans or in medicaid or medicare for people. bad teeth cause infections that can move into other parts of the body. blood poisoning can result and many other problems. the best place to get a clear answer is from a dentist. if you call your dentist or a friend%26#039;s trusted dentist, he or she will explain the risks.

if her teeth are that far gone, dentures will be the result. you cannot treat teeth once they have rotted out and are falling out. the gums are most likely in bad shape also.

there are usually dental schools in larger cities at unversities or somewhere who treat people for about a third of the cost of a dentist in private practice.

also, call your local health department and ask for advice.
Reply:my dentist told me that gum disease can commonly be linked to heart, kidney, liver, disease and a couple other i cant remember but they are common types
Reply:Decay doesn%26#039;t lead to other health problems directly but it can indirectly. What sort of diet does you friend have? This is more of a concern when it comes to general health. The longer your friend puts off having treatment the worse her condition will become and the more it will cost her to fix her teeth.

Kissing and bad teeth?

my BF chews sweets all the time, drinks sugary drinks, doesnt brush rite

but he refuses to go to the dentist till finally one day his teeth had rotted away so bad i had to puch him to see a dentist who took out alot of teeth. He could not afford to get more treatment done so i gave him a loan. Now weeks later he still hasnt got his teeth sorted. He had a BIG fear of the dentist but i noticed his FRONT teeth were beedling not just bleeding but gushing, dripping down his mouth i told him and he was like so what. He two front teeth are venners but i can see behind them black stuff where the blood was coming. He still tries to kisss me and i pull away. I cant bring my self to tell him why. I have taken care of my teeth and i have heard gum disease can be passed on.

The smell gets me too. He gave me back the money i gave him and tells me hes not going to the dentist. Im scared of the dentist too. He takes my non kissing of him personally but do you blame me. How do i persuade him?

Kissing and bad teeth?
As someone who has seen my fair share of dentists due to overcrowding much earlier in my life I can say that sounds terrible. Oral hygiene spills over to overall health, any filth in his mouth is being ingested when he swallows so oral cleanliness is very important. One of the first things I look at in the mirror is my teeth and since wearing braces I%26#039;ve tried to make sure my teeth are always in top condition. This may seem biased towards my own experience but it%26#039;s intended to drive home one point, ones mouth is very important. How can anyone expect to be taken seriously when their teeth are in such bad condition? It not only smells, it shows he doesn%26#039;t take care of himself.
Reply:Not kissing him is enough to get him to fix his stank teeth, so tell him the truth.
Reply:some people have a genuine phobia of dentists. you should tell the dentist about it and they will take things slowly and make things a lot more easier. maybe sedation might be a option in his situation.

Reply:Yes, they can really make you sick, and in some rare cases the infection from a bad tooth can cause death. Bad teeth is one of the worst pains next to child birth, they rate right up there as far as I am concerned. I%26#039;ve only had a couple bad tooth aches, but I%26#039;m sorry for what your going through. You will feel so much better when you get them out.
Reply:you will look and feel better whenever its all healed poor kid.lol

I had several that were impacted and had to come out.

I had a very good oral surgen doing the work.

I had no pain the next day. I took 1 asprin the second day.

But I felt so much better in general.

You will really be pleased.

Good Luck, and be brave. :)
Reply:The sooner you get it done the better. Bad teeth can cause a low grade infection that can make you constantly on the edge of exhaustion and very sick!! Good luck!
Reply:My whole life i had the most yellow teeth. I wouldn%26#039;t smile, omg i was so miserable. I got them whitened and my friends said they noticed a difference in my personality. I am always laughing now, I have so much more confidence. So yes bad teeth can you you UGHHHH.

good luck at the dentist!!
Reply:I was a dental assistant years ago, and from what I heard from our patients they felt great after a couple of weeks and adjusted to the partials. I think overall you will feel much better once you are healed and have a beautiful smile. You will feel more comfortable all together just having a healthy mouth. Good luck!
Reply:yes.. at certain moments its really very bad.
Reply:Absolutely positively and without a doubt....

YES YES YES YES

If you need your back teeth pulled(at least as many as 17 or 18) you might as well get them all pulled. It doesn%26#039;t hurt...

You won%26#039;t feel a thing. Why waste time or money on Dentists who try to tell you that keeping a few teeth will help you.

IT%26#039;S A LIE

IF YOU HAVE A MOUTH FULL OF ROTTEN TEETH, GET THEM ALL PULLED.

I WAITED UNTIL I WAS 36 YEARS OLD TO PULL ALL MY BAD TEETH AND BY THAT TIME I WAS SO SICK I COULDN%26#039;T EAT.

It%26#039;s cheaper in the long run if you only have so many good teeth left ... just pull them all and get dentures. You can eat anything you want and you%26#039;ll stop getting colds, headaches and the flu.

STOP LETTING THE DENTIST LIE TO YOU.

If your teeth are rotten enough that you must lose 17 or 18 you might as well pull them all.

I know.

hang in there and good luck
Reply:i had 13 teeth pulled and infected it is so much not t have all those teeth i feel 1000 times better i had the needle i was scared to put to sleep it was quick that i did not believe the dentist it was over most of mine where broke at the gum hardly any pain good luck
Reply:Hi Rachael!

I had 2 abscesses last year, side by side. Parents never took me to dentist as a child, except once, for a BAD experience over an extraction. That only made me fear going to the dentist even more. Once the antibiotics were taken for 10 days, I got them both pulled. Instant relief! Now I am in the same boat you are, I have mostly bad teeth on top side, can hardly eat, feel tired and achy all the time. Would like to find a dentist that would not try and shame me into spending thousands I do not have doing root canals and crowns to save them a few more years and just get them out. Good Luck! I am sure getting them pulled will be a lot less painful than dealing with the bad teeth like ours all the time. Let me know how it goes!

Do Boys mind Bad Teeth?

My teeth were crowded (so i had some removed) and im just about to get some fixed braces, but I wonder if Boys really do mind bad teeth. Bad breath is bad yes but bad teeth anybody?

Do Boys mind Bad Teeth?
Honestly? honey, it%26#039;s like big breasts, beautiful faces and everything else- sure they%26#039;re nice but any intelligent boy picks a woman with high morals. I did and ten years into the marriage I%26#039;m intensly happy, and often tell her so.

Nice teath don%26#039;t make you happy and can%26#039;t do much for that matter. Anyhows, yours sound fine.
Reply:Depends on where you are from. Let%26#039;s just put it this way- good teeth are nice.
Reply:yes some do but you will have pretty teeth before you know it and it will be worth it,good luck (see about the clear braces)
Reply:Not everyone does. But I would prefer it. My paernts paid over 5 grand on my teeth and now they%26#039;re perfect so I think I do prefer for someone to have good teeth just because of all the work I went through. I had braces on twice several teeth removed among other things. plus I have them whitened ever 6 to 9 months. But Im not a guy. Sorry. Good luck.
Reply:if the rest of you is nice then im sure the teeth dont matter.

But a nice smile says a thousand words
Reply:My daughter had the same fear when she had her brace put on. It made absolutely no difference to boys attitudes towards her!

So many teenagers have them now so there is no stigma attached, and it%26#039;s not as if the braces are permanent. Just make sure you keep a little mirror with you so that you can check there is nothing left behind after you%26#039;ve eaten.
Reply:Hiya ! I had braces for 3 years ! (Check my myspace pictures, 2nd set at:

And you will see that i actually modelled at car shows with them ! So no, boys do not mind, you can be gorgeous and sexy and still have braces, you have nothing to worry about babe!

All the best

Reply:I am a fourteen year old boy and need braces but am afriad to have them because i worry loads about what i look like. I think once you have them on and give it a week then you will just get used to it. I hope you get them done and get them off as soon as possible then you will not have to worry any more like me. I have read some of your other answers and overall i think that only stuck up boys who think their it!!!!, will have a problam with it but nice people who see through not what you look like but wats in the inside more than what you look like on the outside are the boys you should look for.
Reply:Bit of a turn on if you ask me
Reply:i dont mind but would prefere if the woman did have nice teeth

And even if we did the phrase pot, kettle, black springs to mind!!!!! I%26#039;ve seen programmes such as Dr Phil, Maury Povich, Rikki Lake and Jerry Springer!! Away from all that Hollywood glam, your teeth are just as disgusting, i%26#039;d even go as far as to say they are worse!!

I%26#039;m from the south and it sucks that everyone labels me as a hick....it sucks....get over it.
Reply:Two words - Austin Powers. they probably watched that and think our teeth are like hes lol. shows how little minded some of them are
Reply:Americans are brats when it comes to our teeth. We love our teeth perily white and straight. Most people in urban and suburban areas get braces to straighten their teeth. Water in the US is also fluoridated so our teeth are very healthy. People with bad teeth (in the US) tend to live in rural areas that use non-fluoridated water and cannot afford to go to get braces. It%26#039;s not that British people (and most Europeans) have bad teeth, it%26#039;s just that they are not as fussy as we are about it. Water in Europe (including most of the UK) is usually not fluoridated so teeth just look dingier compared to ours. Also many people in Europe (mostly older people) did not have braces growing up so their are a lot of grannies with crooked smiles. This rumor has been around for a while so I assume you have grandma%26#039;s teeth to blame for the start of this rumor (it probably started during WW2) when Europeans really had bad teeth (again compared to finicky Americans).

my dog

Ok I admit British teeth are bad. But aren't American teeth just vain and unnatural?

Yes it%26#039;s true, we Brits don%26#039;t have teeth anywhere near as nice as you Americans. It%26#039;s down to a number of things. Lots of British people just can%26#039;t be bothered to go to a dentist. Other people want to go but can%26#039;t because we don%26#039;t have enough dentists. But the thing is every country has people who don%26#039;t go to the dentist enough.

The main reason there is such a stereotype about British teeth is because most British people, even the ones who look after their teeth well, don%26#039;t go out and get cosmetic procedures done to them all the time. In the USA, bleaching, braces, veneers and other procedures are all commonplace. But all of these things are cosmetic, unncecessary, and sometimes they are actually bad for your teeth. These procedures just aren%26#039;t common in Britain because as a society we are just less vain about teeth.

So next time you want to insult a Brit, think of a better one than the old teeth comment, we know we have bad teeth, but we just don%26#039;t care - and that%26#039;s a good thing.

Ok I admit British teeth are bad. But aren%26#039;t American teeth just vain and unnatural?
#1: Are you a dentist, a dental assistant, or in any other position in the dental field? If not, how would you know that bleaching, braces, veneers and other common procedures are %26quot;actually bad for your teeth? Can you back that up with double blind studies, or is that your opinion?

The reason Americans spend alot of money on our teeth, is because unlike you apparently, we do care what our teeth look like. It is called %26quot;taking pride in your appearance%26quot;.

This does not make an American vain, anymore than it would make a Brit vain if they decided to do cosmetic dentistry.

It is really sad that you can admit you have bad teeth and that your reason for not fixing them has nothing to do with money, but is just because you don%26#039;t care.

I don%26#039;t think every Brit wants you speaking on their behalf.

And I still think it is sad that you admit it.
Reply:Also, it%26#039;s not just looking nice... good looking teeth translate into healthy teeth, which means they don%26#039;t rot or hurt when we eat. It not only looks nice... it feels nice. Report It

Reply:Sigh, is your inferiority complex really so bad that you became passionate about teeth?

Haha - point taken. I bow to you.
Reply:most people who do those weird things to their teeth are on tv.

my dentist said i didnt need braces, i just brush them every day
Reply:It%26#039;s the water....and flouride
Reply:I%26#039;ve never heard of you Brits getting dissed for bad teeth. Around here, we tend to trash West Virginians for that sort of thing.
Reply:Not nice of you to say that it%26#039;s all Americans think. I happen to be an American living in the UK, for a year now and %26quot;teeth%26quot; has never crossed my mind. It%26#039;s not the teeth I think about but their lack of manners and good will towards anyone but their own. So please get off your soap box and think about what you are saying before preaching to us people okay?

Cheers
Reply:I agree with what Peg said. Your making generalization about people. Talk about your own teeth just because they bad doesn%26#039;t mean others don%26#039;t go to denist ok
Reply:Braces are used to keep the teeth in alignment and prevent more serious periodontal and TMJ problems. Despite what you see on TV not all Americans use the veeneers and bleachings. Being less vain is not the same thing as letting your teeth rot and make your breath stink. Neither are we all fat or all skinny or all umm anything at all for that matter. And if you think the Queen et al have all their own natural teeth, well we have a bridge here in Brookllyn we have been trying to sell for a while. Not a dental bridge either.
Reply:It%26#039;s a cultural thing. In some cultures they put V-grooves in their teeth, or have metal steel crowns because they think they look beautiful.

From a dentist point of view, it seems to me that many people don%26#039;t fully understand the physical risks of having teeth altered. Patients have to be fully informed of risks, or you are asking for a lawsuit if anything goes wrong, whether it%26#039;s your fault or just a general risk.

I have a policy of only advising patients of absolute functional needs, such as cavities, gum disease or other damaging problems. 90% of braces are done for appearance. You don%26#039;t do braces for TMJ or perio.

However, if the PATIENT raises a concern about their appearance like tooth whitening or braces, then we%26#039;ll discuss it. It%26#039;s not my place to tell people that their looks are unsatisfactory (according to my cultural view).

So let%26#039;s live and let live, everyone.
Reply:I am sooo vain...I am getting 8 veneers next week!! And getting all my teeth bleached--- WOO HOOOO!! Gotta love living in the USA!!!
Reply:Probably, having good teeth don%26#039;t change the fact that Americans are fat.

My teeth are bad and i dont know what can be done?

When i was young, i had a dentist that told me stuff when i went, then when i went back, he didnt do anything. IE. Give me a telling off for having decayed and squint teeth... saying %26quot;when this one comes out we will get u braces%26quot; then when it did come out he couldnt be bothered basically.

I grew up from the age of 9 to 25 only seeing a dentist if my life depends on it. (pain). I have had 2 teeth extracted (the molar beside each top canine) and without noticing it, i dont smile. I come accross as no sense of humour coz i dont like it... never have.

Thats just me now. Second nature.

I dont see the point in dentures, they seem massive effort and the reason i have bad teeth to begin with is coz im lazy. I dont wanna be adjustin my teeth all the time looking like mrs doubtfire.

The tooth to the right of the one that is extracted has now split but during the last extracted 8 years ago and this new problem, i had a decayed tooth....

My teeth are bad and i dont know what can be done?
If you are in the UK and not working you can see your dentist for nothing. I know a lot on here are going to give you a hard time over this, and I feel for you myself. My sincere thoughts go out to you, ten fold!

I have to go to my dentist on the 30th. I have been %26#039;dreading%26#039; this for about the last 3mths. It is a check up. We have to have them in the UK every six months. I only recently found out about this when I had to find another dentist because my other one had %26#039;archived my folder%26#039; because I hadnt seen him since 1996 or something ridiculous like that. I hadnt realised that you have to go there, make an appointment every 6mths, take up his time and an appointment that someone who needed him could have had, and you have to go in the surgery, thumbs up, and say %26#039;Alright mate, how ya doin..jus thought Id pop in and waste half an hour of your valuable time..what? no theres nothing wrong, I just wanted you to see me...%26#039; For pity%26#039;s sake, if I did that to my doctor he%26#039;d lob me off his list ... what goes on!!!!

As a youngster I had a very bad experience at the dentist which I never ever got over.

I have a tooth at the top that is at its gum level like you have, but they %26#039;crowned%26#039; it for me, and now its no problem at all. Admittedly that was after a dentist, who has since left the old surgery, had filled it over an absess and I ended up having root treatment...

I have problems with one at the moment. Its a wisdom tooth, its not long ago come through, (Im not at the usual age for wisdom teeth, Im a lot older {maybe Im thick and thats why they didnt come out til now lol}) Anyway, the dentist gave me an injection which didnt work, dug around and took most of my gum away, filled it on the gum not the tooth, now it snapped the filling and the tooth, its very sharp and is embedding itself into my face and cheek. And Im petrified of dentists but Iv have no intention of going near him til I have to on the 30th, but Im not expecting any sympathy either, but you people have to realise that just cos you arent scared or havent had %26#039;bad experinces%26#039; you are lucky, so dont be shitty to us who have had it bad where the dental flossies are concerned.
Reply:i took a pill the night before and the morning of i remeber nothing it was great and i had 9 teeth pulled . there are options out there for u if u are like me and can not handle teeth or mouth pain Report It

Reply:See a dentist more often. Brush your teeth twice daily.
Reply:I think you already know the answer to your problem----see a dentist. Only you can take care of yourself and nobody else. Be lazy to see a dentist now and you%26#039;ll regret it later why you didn%26#039;t go sooner. Then you have yourself to blame.
Reply:Please see a another dentist and keep brushing your teeth twice a day and floss your teeth, this gets rid of all the food that get stuck between your teeth.
Reply:Well, I would defiantly see a dentist about the decayed teeth and pain, but while you%26#039;re there you should ask him about Lumineers. They%26#039;re porcelain veneers that are so thin that you don%26#039;t have to get you teeth ground down or anything. I%26#039;m not sure how expensive they are, but here%26#039;s the website for more info.

Reply:well there%26#039;s not really a cheap way about this issue- i would recommend veneers as a previous poster - i%26#039;ve seen them on the 10 years younger prgramme - they make a reallybig difference and will make you feel more confident. They may be expensive but to be honest they will sort out your confidence levels and make you smile - which is the most important thing.

I%26#039;m sure they have financial arrangment for you as well so no need to worry if you don%26#039;t have the money.

Check out some cosmetic surgery sites or even submit your name into the 10 years younger programme (this might get you a free makeover!)!
Reply:The only certain way to keep you r%26quot;choppers%26quot; is by seeing a dentist. Don%26#039;t be afraid and just do it! They can help you =)
Reply:I am 24, and I have crowded teeth bottoms and up so I am having braces! :0(

it will be for 18 month, and I will have to pay about £200/month

I am very scared and it%26#039;s a lot of money coming out of my wages, but it will sort out my confidence and I know I will be happier so I think it%26#039;s money well spend.

Anyway you sound like you need a new dentist, and brush your teeth twice daily, floss and use inter dental brush and mouthwash everyday.

Good luck.

You can prevent teeth from getting worse by flossing&brushingbut can you make the teeth that are bad better?

my friend has really bad teeth, some are chipped and they are yellow.the other night one tooth in the bad just broke in half. he grides his teeth alot. how can he stop this and how can he prevent this from happening to his other teeth. is there anyway to make his messed up teeth look better and become healthier even though they are already bad?

You can prevent teeth from getting worse by flossing%26amp;brushingbut can you make the teeth that are bad better?
Only a dentist can fix bad teeth.

Poor oral hygene will not help.
Reply:Honestly, if they%26#039;re that bad... chances are the dental bills to make them look proper again are going to be so outrageous, that it%26#039;d be better to just get them pulled and to get dentures. I know it sounds weird, but my friend (27 years old) did that 2 years ago and loves his new teeth. The grinding of his teeth is usually more of a nerves issue/habit... hard to break, and it causes serious damage to your teeth over time. The yellowing of his teeth, isn%26#039;t a big deal.. get laser whitening or some crest white strips if he%26#039;s more patient. If there%26#039;s lots of chips in his teeth, and the enamal is so weak that his teeth are just breaking when he grinds them.. I%26#039;d say that he might be past the %26quot;point of no return%26quot; so to speak, and dentures might be a viable option. Just my $0.02.

BAD teeth what can i do?

hi, i try burshing daily and sometimes flossing but i cant helo its my mother and father both had bad teeth. So my question is how can i improve my cavities and teeth condition is there something i can do to make my teeth stronger consume? i have like 4 root canals and four crowns and many cavities and im only in my 20s but my teeth are very nicely structured and you cant tell that i has extensive dental work. what can i consume or do to make my teeth healthier i dont want dentures until im at least 50. please help!!! thanks

BAD teeth what can i do?
You need to brush twice every day, in the morning and at night. You also need to floss EVERY DAY, not just sometimes. You could also use a fluoride mouthwash to help, rinse with it for 1 minute each day.

Try not to consume too much in the way of sugar, and if you are eating sugary snacks, eat them after a main meal. Each time you eat, your teeth are attacked for 1 hour. If you only eat sugary things after meals, your teeth are only exposed for 3 hours each day, and they can deal with this. If, however, you snack on sweets or drink soda throughout the day, your teeth are constantly under attack from the sugar and acid, and you%26#039;ll end up with a mouth full of cavities, which it sounds like you already have!

Reply:Brush with a soft toothbrush only. My dentist said that brushing is overrated. There is no need to brush your teeth more then once or twice a day. He also said DO NOT SCRUB. You can try using fluoride rinse after brushing (Act Kids) and drinking tap water for the fluoride. You can also take a multivitamin.

I have bad teeth what can i do?

My teeth are in poor condition. The two front top teeth I have are about cut in half fixed with basically veneer but only like half the tooth not the whole front so you can see where the line is alot.. Also i have two baby teeth on the bottom that are so bad they will someday fall out because the root is going to get weak.. I go to the dentist ALOT to keep my mouth healthy.. I have fillings in almost all my teeth.. They say soda pop is the main reason for my problems.. Not so sure if this is true considering my parents both have bad teeth also... Anyway what can i do. I want them whitened and i want at least the front two fixed? Will this cost a mint or where can i go to have something done with minimal costs?

I have bad teeth what can i do?
My first piece of advice would have been: visit your dentist more often. But I can see that this isn%26#039;t the problem. Do you remember to clean your teeth carefully, and never to go to bed without brushing them?

It%26#039;s a bit late to do something about it.But I do think you%26#039;ll have to try.

Since it%26#039;s a family problem I think your problem stems from not getting enough healthy food and drink. Do get a lot of vegetables and fruit every day. And this does not come from a bottle. Drop all the soda pops and do drink water or mineral water instead. Then you need to drink at least half a litre of milk every day (low fat will do nicely).

And to get healthy and exercise your teeth: take a raw carrot during your day.

This will make your teeth healthier in the long run. In the short run you need to get them fixed. others have written about that.

Good luck to you.
Reply:HAVE A BOXING MATCH WITH SOMEONE
Reply:If you want a good price go to a dental school they take patients. I would worry about your other problems before whitening because you can%26#039;t whiten denal work, your teeth will get lighter but not the fillings and veneers.

I have bad teeth and I just want to have them all pulled out. Should I have it done?

I just turned 18 and I haven%26#039;t been to a dentist since I was 12. That%26#039;s when I had 6 of my back teeth pulled out. I had 4 back teeth pulled out before that so I have 10 teeth missing already. The teeth I have left all have cavities in them and a couple are broken. I know it will cost way more than I have to get them fixed and I really don%26#039;t want them fixed. I%26#039;d really rather just have them all pulled out. I had all of my first teeth pulled out when I was 4 cuz they were all rotten and I didn%26#039;t have any teeth at all for a couple of years so I what that%26#039;s like. It%26#039;s not nearly as bad as having ugly teeth that give you problems all the time. My mom hasn%26#039;t had any teeth for years and I%26#039;d much rather go toothless or maybe get false teeth later on than go on like this. I don%26#039;t have insurance so I%26#039;ll have pay when I go. I just want them all out as soon as I can get it done even if I have to go toothless. My mom found a dentist with reasonable rates that will do it for me. Should I go for it?

Go for it! Your boyfriend will love you for it!!!
Reply:NO!!! that person has no idea what their talking about...you need to have teeth to get veneers anyways! Trust me you want to keep as many teeth as you possible can! I know you said your already missing 10 teeth but beleive me you want to keep the ones you have left. With a partial, some of your biting efficiency stays the same. If you have all of your teeth pulled then you will need a denture and they have a 14%!!!! biting efficiency!!! That means that if you like steak and sandwiches...say goodbye! It will take a lot more money to fix your teeth than to take them out but its worth it!!! You are young and your teeth are very important. You dont want to go to bed with your sweety and say %26quot;oh hold on let me take out my teeth first%26quot; thats disguisting!!! There are dental clinics in every county that will help you if you have no insurance...just contact your health dept.!!!! Good luck!!!
Reply:If I was you I would go for it. I did the same thing soon as I got out of school cuz I had really bad teeth my whole life too. You%26#039;re right about it not being so bad without teeth. A lot of my family has no teeth or false teeth and they don%26#039;t have problems. I haven%26#039;t had any teeth for 3 years now and I feel better without them. I think my bad teeth were making me sick. Hope everything goes good for you when you do get them out.
Reply:If you%26#039;re really sure that%26#039;s what you want I%26#039;d go for it. But be sure cuz once your teeth are gone you%26#039;ll never get anymore. I had all of mine out and I think it was the best thing I ever done cuz mine were bad too. I guess by what you say you kinda know what it%26#039;s like to have no teeth already, and if you%26#039;re ok with that I%26#039;d say go for it.
Reply:Go for it! Like H_bomb says your bf will love you for it. Some guys might be turned off about it, but I bet you%26#039;ll be really surprised by how many really hot guys like it a lot. I had all mine pulled over 10 years ago when I was still in high school and I had no teeth ever since. I never been sorry I did it. My husband has never seen me with teeth because we didn%26#039;t meet til I was 17 and I had no teeth for a couple years by then. He has always liked my smile. :-)
Reply:keep any savable tooth no artificial tooth is good as natural what ever it made of
Reply:If I was you I%26#039;d go for it. If your teeth are bad enough that the dentist is willing to pull them all then they can%26#039;t be that great, probly not worth trying to save in the long run. Just get them out and then save up for new teeth, unless you don%26#039;t mind not having any. I know a lot of people get along just fine without teeth. Your mom is a perfect example. My wife had all hers out when she was a little younger than you are and she%26#039;s never had a problem. I had mine out when I was your age and had no problems either, except when I had to replace my dentures once cuz they were wore out.
Reply:Why don%26#039;t you get an appointment for an exam and xrays of what you have left first, then have a consultation appointment with the dentist.

He%26#039;ll recommend some options for you and you can decide for yourself.

Good luck.
Reply:you%26#039;re just 18 years old. adult teeth are 32 in all, so losing 10 leaves you 22 natural teeth. if you say that some of them are broken or have cavities, hey! why would you want them pulled out? they%26#039;re still savable! since your mom found a dentist with reasonable rates, why stick with old school? ask the dentist for other options aside from having them pulled out.
Reply:Have you heard of a toothbrush? At your age, you shouldnt have lost any teeth!!

A cavity or two is ok, but 10 teeth? OMG!! Beat your parents for not taking responsibility!
Reply:Yeah don%26#039;t listen to the first person. You should not pull all of your teeth out. You should consult a dentist and try to come up with some sort of payment plan to have your teeth fixed. There is nothing more unattractive then a person with no teeth or bad teeth. Teeth are very important to the outside appearance. If you don%26#039;t care about your appearance, then that%26#039;s another story.
Reply:Leave your teeth dont pull them!no more sets of teeth! If you have any cavities fill them.Bad teeth vaneers or crowns!SEE there are many posible solutiions!!!NO PULLING!!!!

FILLINGS AND CROWNS=MODERATE PAIN

TOOTH EXTRACTION=GREAT PAIN!!!

Hope you change your mind:)
Reply:You should not have all of your teeth removed unless there is not other option. You should find a dentist that will work out a plan to fix your remaining teeth and a payment plan. You do need your teeth. You need them for eating most foods and you also need them to maintain your jawbone. People who have false teeth lose bone in their jaw and many eventually have insufficient bone to support false teeth. It also deforms your appearance. Tooth disease can have a negative affect on your general health, so you should work on this as soon as possible. If you live near a dental school you may be able to find low cost dental care at their student clinic. I urge you not to choose toothless. Once they%26#039;re gone you never get to choose again.
Reply:I am sorry you have had so much dental trouble. Please reconsider before you get dentures. A good portion of your taste involves the palatal tissue. The taste of all your food will change, you will add more salt to enhance the flavor and it could be a detriment to your health. Also the arches of bone that support the dentures will slowly deteriorate over the years. Somewhere down the road you won%26#039;t even be able to keep a denture in your mouth, it will flop all over. Just think about trying to eat an apple or carrots... any crispy vegetable or fruit. You%26#039;ll go to a softer diet and again, the health is compromised. Studies have shown, those who have dentures usually have a shorter life span. Try to fix what you have, get some partials or later when you have a career and can afford it, get some implants. There are so many things that can be done now to enhance your smile, don%26#039;t give up on those teeth! Good luck.
Reply:A reputable dentist would not pull out your teeth if he/she felt that they can be saved. Bad teeth can cause infection all through your body. No teeth or dentures will limit what you can eat. You need to talk in length with a good dentist. Get answers regarding a good dentist from your friends. Do not put this off any longer as you could develop other health issues.
Reply:If you dont mind having no teeth then go ahead, and maybe down the line you can get you some false teeth.
Reply:God! at 18 all your teeth have gone. very bad. repairing teeth is not very comfortable. One of my teeth was removed. The dentist said he will put a replacement. I agreed and gave him a hefty sum. Then he ground the nearby two teeth and fixed a %26#039;bridge%26#039; , a false teeth. Now my two good tooth are spoiled in that process. So be careful about repairing.

Pomeranian bad teeth?

my 4 year old pomeranian has really bad teeth i always try to brush them but he just starts moving and fighting. then once i got a good look at his teeth and he had a bunch of missing teeth and his right canine teeth at the top are orangy brown and i was wondering wat could i do to let me brush his teeth and if i took him to the vet to get his teeth checked wat would the price range be...i live in texas if that is some how relevant.

and do all pomeranians not like to get there teeth brushed??

Pomeranian bad teeth?
Little dogs are well known to posess %26quot;garbage%26quot; mouths, so its not uncommon for your Pom to be losing his teeth. Well you are doing a good job by trying to brush his teeth so I applaud you on that but then again trying isnt doing. Is there someone at home with you that can restraint your dog while you brush his teeth? Maybe have a parent or friends help you, to do this just get a towel (a big one) and put it on your dogs back so it hangs over his sides like a blanket. Then pick him up and tuck the ends of the blanket around him almost like you are making a doggie burrito. Then have your helper hold him in the doggie burrito (make sure his head is sticking out lol) then you can brush his teeth without him getting away. If he starts to wrestle and fight correct him with a firm No! not yelling just firm and deep. make sure your helper keeps a tight grip on the burrito too. Keep practicing this and shortly you should be able to brush his teeth without him wrestling and maybe even without a partner. Now since your dog is already displaying signs of peridontal disease I suggest taking your dog to the vet and getting a cleaning. These can range anywhere from $50 to $150 depending on your vet and the extent of the decay and yuck in his mouth. Once you get that done you need to really keep up with the brushing, your vet can tell you how often you need to a week. This will slow down the chances of him developing bad gum disease and losing all of his teeth. Once you develop a routine keep in mind that every 4 or 6 months you should go in and get another dental cleaning just to make sure everything is in good order. I hope this helps you some!
Reply:Oh my gosh. I love pomeranians anyways well you might want to just watch the teeth in case they get worse!
Reply:My long hair chihuahua (she could almost be considered as a Pomeranian) has orangy brown teeth near the top of her teeth but she has no teeth missing. maybe you should get a dog tooth brush and toothpaste and brush his teeth once a day. see if that works. if his teeth keep falling out, you might want to consider to see a vet cause if all his teeth fall out he wont be able to eat. so i would definitely consider seeing a vet. also make sure you are not feeding him food that could be causing it in any way. also try to get the smallest food possible so that it does not knock his teeth out. I really hope this helps!
Reply:Best thing to do is take him to the vet, he may need a dental cleaning done. After the cleaning you can try him on a food that helps to clean their teeth while they eat. Its great that you have tried brushing, some dogs will just not tolerate having it done. Its hard to say how much it would cost, you can call around different vets as they all charge different fees.
Reply:Sounds like the dog needs a dental. Take the dog into the vet and talk about the dogs teeth and ask about a dental. Your dog has calculus(plaque, tartar) build up on the teeth.

My vet charges me $150 for a dental.

Give the vet a call and ask how much a dental costs for a pomeranian.

If you start brushing at a young age there is no fuss with brushing the teeth.

Once the teeth are cleaned brush the teeth daily.
Reply:You do want to take your dog to the vet so they can look at his teeth. I%26#039;m not sure how much it would be for a medical exam, but you can call and ask. And the doctor might then suggest that he gets a dental cleaning. They can give you an estimate for how much that might cost, and what goes into it. Generally your dog would stay at the clinic for a day, and he would be anesthetized. Then his teeth would get cleaned with an ultra sonic scaler to remove the calculus (which can%26#039;t be removed by brushing alone), hand scaled, polished, and they would apply flouride. But your veterinarian will be able to go into more details with you about that.

For brushing his teeth, this will help reduce any more plaque from building up on his teeth. You will have to go slow to start, and you want to make it fun. You only have to brush the outer surfaces of his teeth, focusing on the back molars. Be sure to use Dog Tooth paste.

To start you want to put him up on a table, or the dryer, or something tall. Apply a small amount of tooth paste to the brush, and just brush a few teeth very quickly. Once you are done, Priase him Like Crazy! And give him a good treat. Around the same time the next day, do the same thing. Brush just a few teeth very quickly. Then immediately Praise Like Crazy! And give him a treat. After a while he should start associating having his teeth brushed with praise and treats. And you should be able to brush a few more teeth each time, spending a little more time in his mouth. I hope this helps! Good Luck!
Reply:My personal choice would be to switch diet. At least a high quality kibble if you don%26#039;t already feed that, but preferably some RAW/BARF. It really helps on the teeth as well as makes the dog healthier in general. Since his teeth are already problematic you would have to start with small bones and easier to chew pieces.
