My boyfriend has bad teeth and doesn't have dental insurance!?

My boyfriend can't brush his teeth anymore because it hurts too bad. I convinced him to let me look at them a while back and all of is top front teeth have holes in them (probably cavities) and his bottom ones aren't looking much better. I talk him in to using mouthwash sometimes because it's the only thing I can think of that won't hurt too bad.

He's only 22 and I'm afriad that as soon as I can get him into a dentist, they will just pull all of his teeth. Is there anything I can do?

you can look for a dental school that does work for a reduced price, or a free dental clinic. you can also look for a dentist that can finance his dental work. either way the cheapest thing they can do is pull the teeth. if you dont want that they you better do something quick because he can get an infection in his jaw or get some other disease and even worse die. they may have to pull some teeth but he can also get caps, bridges or implants.

whatever you decide to do i wish you luck
Reply:I have the same problem with bad teeth and no insurance. I would get him into the dentist as soon as possible though, cuz the longer you wait the worse it will be! He might be able to apply for some health assistance program like medicaid if he qualifies. That could be something to look into. But DON'T WAIT!!!
Reply:get some then...

It's worth it...

Ugly teeth are minging!
Reply:Some dentists have free clinics. Check into that.
Reply:get him to a dentist that will accept payents or have him apply for the medical card with the state..they cover dental..he really should get it checked becasue it may be a sign of something else wrong with his health or something with his health may be causing this...have him even go to a reg doctor first and if bad enough the extraction may be covered by insuracne...but this can casue infection, weight loss if it is not dealt with...living with constant mough pain is tough to swallow.
Reply:Welcome to the club,, I had such pain and the dentist gave me an estimate of $8000. to make it all right, so I said pull it,, cost me $250. a few at a time,,now I learn to eat without teeth..thats the new America..be proud to be toothless..
Reply:Are you from the US? I have offended someone on here by assuming they were, when it turned out they were from Hungary. Whatever you can do, if you're in the US you can find insurance coverage. If he goes to the state, like Social Services has in California, he can find medical benefits that fit into his wages and earnings. If anything, go in and ask what billing options the dentist has. He may have a severe infection in his gums. If allowed to go on for too long, the infection spreads into the blood stream and it can be life-threatening. Don't hesitate! The worst that can happen is that he will have to have caps or bridges to replace the bad teeth. He may even have an infection into the bone of his jaw if it's been going on long enough, which I think warrants surgery. Not sure though... but it's still dangerous. Having your teeth replaced is better than risking your life!
Reply:unfortunatly without dental insurance it will be extremely expensive to get all the teeth fixed. you can try to get a loan to cover the costs or do it a few teeth at a time if you can afford that. I feel for you, I don't have the greatest teeth and even with dental insurance, I can't usually afford to go to the dentist when I need to. he needs at least to go to the dentist to see what you can do about the pain, like maybe an antibiotic for infection and maybe a pain killer. Be VERY careful with the pain killers though if he gets them. Only take recommended dosages, taking to many at a time can cause SO MANY problems!!!!
Reply:Well...He definitely needs to go see a dentist ASAP! I will give you the website of a discount dental plan that is available in the U.S. It's a great savings of up to 80% on dental services. He can sign up online and look up providers by zip code, etc.
