My boyfriend has really bad teeth How do I get him to take better care of his teeth?

I've been dating this guy for 5 months and his teeth and gums are starting to really get to me. Near his gum line it is black and his gums bleed a lot. They even bleed sometimes when we kiss. Gross! We've talked about it a little. He says he never flosses and hasn't gotten a cleaning in a long time. His parents even gotten him an electric tooth brush which helps a little. I commented how good it worked when he first got it but he doesn't like to use it b/c it makes his gums bleed. I mean he's 21 years old, he needs to learn how to have better dental hygine. What do i do?

You need to tell him straight up yo. Nasty teeth ain't no stuff to mess with bia.
Reply:I would tell him no more kissing until he gets a dentist appointment. That's just disgusting.

Tell him that you don't find him attractive when he has bleeding gums all the time. I think that will be a definite push to start getting something done.


Then casually you can mention flossing and going to the dentist.


Also be a positive role model- show him how much you floss and talk about the dentist if you go. I only started flossing b/c my bf flosses.

if he's not taking care of his teeth at 21. Chances are he'll be toothless by 30. can you deal with that eventually.

Reply:This is not only unhealthy to him but, to you too. You really need to talk to him and advice him to go to the dentist because what he has is not good at all. He really has to understand that you kissing him while bleeding is really bad for both of you and i could just imagine how you feel. I know you don't want to be mean but. he is a grown up and he has to start taking care of himself even if it means him brushing his teeth and him bleeding. This is also affecting you a lot. You really need to go to the extremes and buy him lustirine or even get him a picture of what his teeth are going to look like if he doesn't start now and take care of his teeth. Good luck
