Want to enlist. Bad teeth.?

I have horrible teeth. And I go to MEPS this Friday. Anyone know if they will take someone with awful teeth? Will they fix them?

Want to enlist. Bad teeth.?
Yes, after you enlist they will fix your teeth. Sometimes it takes years, but you can save thousands of dollars by enlisted. A guy on my ship (I was in the Navy) had almost no teeth, and the ones they had were rotting. They fixed all of his existing teeth and gave him dentures for the rest. His teeth look great now, and it was about 20,000 dollars worth of work he got for free.

Dont worry, bad teeth wont prevent you from enlisting. They WILL fix them.

PS I got all of my work done in the military too, wisdom teeth, cleanings, everything.
Reply:They should if you want them to.
Reply:noone will care if you enlist and have bad teeth.
Reply:They will fix them before you finish AIT.

If you're going Army, they will not let you out of AIT with really bad teeth, unless you're Reserve or Guard.
Reply:As far as healthy teeth then they pay for everything if you go active duty. If they are just crooked than it is considered cosmetic and you will have to pay for some of it
Reply:Unless you are unable to eat, they will take you. Dead serious. Most likely, they will also fix them. I have had many friends in the Air Force who had braces put on their teeth while active duty.

I would expect that they wouldn't fix them until after you have been through both boot camp and your technical training. However, if you have an extended training school, like for example mine was just under 9 months, they might do it at tech school.
Reply:when you say bad teeth do you mean cavities, etc? the military doesn't do braces nor retainers for their soldiers but they will clean, repair, pull. Your health and wealfare is their job. your job is to do what ever they train and tell you to do.

hopefully your not joining up just to get your teeth fixed. look at the big picture. boot camp isn't for cry babies. it's tough. it's got to be tough and after all of that training and more training. drilling and more drilling, the military will do their level best if you give your best to arm and teach you how to protect yourself and others.

my son get's regular cleanings, x rays 2 x a year. he hasn't had a cavity in fact, he had to take his braces off before he could go to boot camp.

go to meps take the testing and see what happens. in today's world it's about darn near impossible to get the benefits the government will give you at any age. just remember to look at the big picture not just the visual picture.

besides your not going to beauty school. take one step at a time.

best of luck to you!
Reply:My experience with military dentists is that they are very good...but not very gentle. If your teeth are bad and the fix them, expect it to hurt a bit. :)

Good luck.
Reply:I'm not sure if they will allow you to enlist with bad teeth. I know that you are non-deployable with an overdue cleaning, and a certain number of unfilled cavities. And, I definitely know that the Army will fix it all... for free... even the braces, if you need them.

Some of the best dentists I have ever dealt with were Army dentists. I used to be scared of the dentist, but Col Kowan got me over that! :0)

Best wishes at MEPS. And, thank you for wanting to serve your country.
Reply:Depends. Teeth problems are considered a combat multiplier in the field of battle - meaning if you have a severe tooth ache or problem it will most likely affect your performance and thereby affect your units readiness. Just ask. But if they do accept you - your teeth will have to be within the guidelines of deployability/SRP and thus they will fix you up. I wouldn't suggest joining the military for the dental plan though. Take care and thank you for you wanting to serve this great nation.
Reply:Yes, they will
Reply:First of all what branch??? Recruiters will accept just about anything these days. EI: marine corps recruiter enlisted a guy with 80% of his body burned into 0311 (infantry) ...well he was then med descharged. As far as ur teeth...whats ur condition? Being a 0311 we needed at least a class 3 in dental to deploy. not sure what class you would fall under. situation dictates whats going to happen to you. Good look in MEPS. and have fun bending over and pulling ur pants down to have ur rectum looked at, make sure you dont have any dingleberries.
Reply:The only thing I can see that will disqualify you if your having problems already. It would be stupid to start bootcamp and stop in the middle of training for a freaking tooth ache. Any kind of stoppage in training will get you behind and be sent back to next class down or until it is taken care of. They will fix your teeth once your done with bootcamp and in beetween training/schools etc... Hope this helps, Good luck.
Reply:yes, they will take you. they are taking anyone now a days with the numbers of enlistments and re enlistments dropping. and yes, they will fix them.
