2 Dental questions if anyone can help pls?1)I have a bad tooth ache in 2 teeth from bad cavaties i suspect and

need some pain relief,any advice?

2)I hate going to the dentist,as whenever I go they promise they won't hurt and touch nerves etc,but ALWAYS do,even after doing injections to supposedly "numb" the pain.

Can I ask for another new treatment to guarantee NO PAIN?

Also if you answer only 1 or both questions whatever you can is fine and thanks again!

Coz i have serious fear now of going, and it's no good as my teeth will only get worse, and I'm 27male Australia.

I'm considering getting gased too.i don't even know if that's totally safe.Anyway any feedback or further advice I would appreciate. As myself and my teeth thankyou!

Seems that you are the type of patient that will only go to the dentist when you are in pain. BIG MISTAKE! That is why you are always having tooth pain... The trick is to go to the dentist for regular checkups before you have any awareness of tooth problems. You have to catch them when they are small problems so that you can fix them easily. If you are really terrified of any dental pain, you can find a dentist that can treat you under general anesthesia. That way while you are under anesthesia all your teeth can be treated. Remember, there is nothing more or a turn-off to young women than a man with rotten breath from rotting teeth. See your dentist ASAP and get the treatment that you need soon. Good luck.
Reply:i was like you, but when i went the only pain i felt was a tiny little prick of a needle, (it really didn't hurt hardly any at all) and after that the whole area was numb and pain-free. perhaps you should tell them to give you more numbing medicine if you still feel pain during the procedures, they should do it.
Reply:Here in the USA, we have alieve, advil, etc. I would recommend for pain relief, alieve. It is Naproxen, so please check with the pharamcist if you have any meds for blood pressure etc. you are currently taking.

I don't care to go to the dentist either, however, dental care is important.

Maybe you need a different numbing med? orajel is good-that is what they use here for the injection sites in our mouth for the "shot".

As for gassing-that can make you feel loopy, and you can't drive right after the appt. You will probably need a friend or relative to take you and bring you back home.

Is there a university that you could go to that has a dental clinic area in it? They can be pretty good, understanding of fears, etc. And good at numbing.

I hope this helps you. Take care..
Reply:What you need to do is explain to your dentist that you're afraid, most will give you a sedative to take prior to dental treatment, but you must let them know your fear. You should not wait until you have a tooth problem to see the dentist. Regular visits prevent this type of problem. Get on a 6 month recall system where you can have your teeth cleaned and have X-rays (only taken once a year) This is such a great way to preventive treatment. If your dentist is not willing to give sedative, find one that will. Good Luck
Reply:You will need to go to the Dentist ASAP! There are a lot of dentists that allow walkin's, open up the phone book and call. Sometimes, dentists will schedule you for a future date, and that waiting period is the worst. To get through the waiting period to see that dentist you can try the following:

1) Ice bag: Cold temperatures will kill bacteria and thus ease pain, as well as contract some nerves that are imflamed and giving you the pain.

2) warm salt water rinse:

3) warm milk

4) microwave meat with fat and place the juicy fat on the tooth/area that hurts. The juices from the fat often help.

5)antibacterial mouth wash: There is also mouth wash out there that builds bone too.

6) Shower with shampoo before bed each night: believe it or not, the chemicals in the shampoo combined with warm water are similar to the expensive chemicals in perscription mouth wash that the dentists perscribe, and when lathering your hair, a tiny amount of lather accidently getting into your mouth will kill all 22 varieties of bacteria living in your mouth. A good shampoo I would recomend is Loreal Kids Bounce Shampoo.

7) Stop drinking Coffee or soda. .. obvious reasons.

8) Can use a warm water soaked tea bag to place between your teeth at night as an overnight temporary solution to the pain. The tea back will stop unconscience teeth grinding while you sleep.

9) If you feel it is a cavity and you are 100%, I reiterate, 100% certain you know 100% where that cavity is in your mouth, then you can go to the local corner drug store and buy a temporary cavity fill kit for cheap and that patch will last a week or so until your Dentist appointment.

10) Dentist will perscribe ibuprofen, usually between 800 and 1000mg for pain 2-3 times daily. Over the counter is less. Do the math for over the counter comparable.

Good Luck!!
