I inherited an 7 year old boxer a year ago and she has really bad teeth...?

...so I took her to have them cleaned and they ended up pulling 9 of them. That totally took away the bad breath and her teeth were pearly white. Now it's 4 months later and her breath stinks even worse than before and her gums look swollen once again and her teeth are bad. Is there anything I can do to fix this?? The vet gave me some anti-biotics but it didn't help and they said they could clean her teeth again. I mean what's the point of cleaning her teeth if they're not fixing the problem?? What is the problem with the dog and how do I fix it? Thanks

I have to agree with one person that said take your dog to anther vet... I also agree if the dog has bad teeth and gums its like you having bad teeth and gums... you would be in pain and I am sure your dog is in pain... Gum infections can cause blood infections and that could lead to death. Check out the web sites I have enclosed

I give my dogs rawhides to help clean their teeth and keep them strong... My Vet said that the Rawhides are good for that..

Get a second vets thoughts on this... yes the meds are good to help with fighting any infection but what is causing your dog to have bad gums... that is the root of the problem that you need to find out... Good luck and I wish you the best
Reply:Take her back tomorrow, my dog was a rescue and even though they pulled 2 teeth she got very sick and passed away. So absessed teeth can really get a dog sick please take her back as soon as possible.
Reply:Sounds like you should go to another vet and get a second opinion. I mean, if her gums are infected then she needs antibiotics. It could get into her blood stream and cause major BADNESS. They could have stirred things up doing the dental and now she's infected. But if this vet can't fix her then I would go someplace else.
Reply:get the dogs teeth cleaned, keep them brushed, at least sometime... and dont feed it table food, or other soft food that can stick to teeth, where it will turn to sugar causing plaque, tarter and caries..
Reply:Definately gotta get her back to the vet. If the gums are swollen and infected - it can lead to a lot of problems. Once the vet gets her teeth pearly again it's goona be up to you to keep them that way! Usually I'd say you need to give her something to gnaw one, check with your vet to see if she can handle that. If not then daily brushing is a must!

It is AMAZING - My pit used to have his teeth cleaned yearly. Haven't needed to since we started using this stuff.
