Why does medal hitting teeth bad?

Im not saying i do it but im just wondering. why is it so bad if the bit hits the horses teeth?

Why does medal hitting teeth bad?
it can hurt, and can even chip the teeth.
Reply:cuz u can chip them and the are also very sensitive
Reply:I guess you could clang one on your teeth and maybe get a better understanding? It's painful, that's why.
Reply:It can be very painful and scare them. Imagine hitting your teeth pretty hard with a fork, knife, or spoon, it's not a very positive picture! :)
Reply:go to dental hospital and tell remove all ok
Reply:This little shock occurs when your bite into metal with a tooth that has a metal filling. It is actually a chemical reaction. When certain chemicals contact they actually produce a form of electricity. This is how a chemical batttery works. You are actually creating a sort of battery with the contact in your teeth. I don't know much beyond that, I'm not sure which chemicals or how it works excatly. I do think that the salavia in your mouth is part of the reaction.
Reply:how would you like to have piece of metal banging onto your teeth?

It can chip the teeth and grind the teeth down, it also is irritating for the horse since they can't fully close their mouth if the bit is on top of their teeth.
Reply:because it can hurt their teeth, their teeth are sensitive like ours.If done often it may come to the point where the horse will be rufused to be bridled.Hope this helps ya
Reply:Horses have sensative teeth just like a human. If you were to barely bump your teeth it might not hurt that much, but if you really clunk it it can chip, break, and or damage the teeth.

So just think of putting metal in your mouth and how it would feel on your teeth.

Which is why many humans can't get a bit into the horses mouth without a fight!
Reply:You can't even be serious...................
Reply:Do you mean an accidental bump while putting the bridle on or an improperly fit bit which smacks into the teeth with every stide and head toss? An occasssional bump putting the bit in might bug your horse or make them flinch a little but shouldn't cause any actual pain or worry. Taking the bit off might make a slightly harder bump but should happen often either and wouldn't cause any real problem. You would have to be ripping it off their head or trying to swing it into their mouth at high speed to cause a chip or major pain. Consant banging in their mouth would certainly hurt and drive them nutty, possibly starting a whole heap of behavior issues. That's why bits are fit snugly in the gap between teeth.
Reply:To explain it the only way I can, take a penny, rub it up and down your teeth and I think you will understand.
Reply:Because it can chip their teeth, and it's just plain painful. I've had someone hit me in the teeth with a spoon before, have you? Picture that, it hurts like a ***** doesn't it? So imagine how the poor horse feels getting hit in the teeth with a bit by some stupid rider who doesn't know what they're doing.
Reply:Because it hurts! I am sure you accidentally bumped something on teeth, and its certainly doesn't feel good. Thats the primary reason, another is that if the bit if bumping your horse teeth, your bridle and bit are not set correctly. This could lead to some complications when ridding and may even cause unnecessary pain.
Reply:nervs, always but your finger in too ease the mouth open first, would you like to have a hard metal bit smaked off your teeth just ask your self now x
Reply:its uncomfortable and can chip their teeth
