Why do most british people have bad teeth??

i noticed it and is it because dental plans here are expensive? do they pay it privately? ive noticed alot of them have bad teeth like some are crooked some are chipped and yellow. nad ive noticed that most of the dentists here are foreiners, like pakistanis... is that the reason?

Why do most british people have bad teeth??
Honestly, it's all about perspective and what's important to you. It's interesting you use the term 'bad' teeth to describe teeth that look different to yours. I believe you can only have 'bad' teeth if they don't help you eat, or are a health risk.

I'm British and my canine teeth look a little like 'fangs'. My teeth could be whiter too. But ultimately, I don't care.

Healthy teeth are naturally yellow, not white. Indeed you can do a lot of damage to them trying to get them whiter. And as for my fangs - well that's the shape of my face. I've got a wonderful girlfriend and a happy disposition because I'm happy to accept the way I look - which makes me less up tight, which makes my easy to get on. Both of which are more likely to make me 'attractive' than a stragiht set of pearly-whites.

I think that there is a fundumantal difference in what's important in attractiveness between Europe and America. In Europe, a face with 'character' can be considered sexy (Gerald Depardeu is a sex symbol in France) whereas in the USA there is more of a culture of trying to look closer and closer to a culturally establishing norm (i.e. straight white teeth, little nose, arching eyebrows and for women, big boobs, slim waste). Ironically what that means is they are all trying to look the same, which means you can never be attractive in your own way. It's actually a route fraught with potential emotial pain.

Incedentally, I have a big, broken nose too and I don't want to get that 'fixed' either.

In terms of our 'foreign' dentists - they are required to achieve the same levels of skills as all our dentists. So it's not ability - it's cultural attitude.

I hope this answers your question (which was a good one, and for that I've given you a star) well, and that it might have shfited some of your assumptions - which we all need from time to time.
Reply:Rofl!

Hmmm...
Reply:It could be.
Reply:I'm sure Austin Powers could answer that one for you...yeah, baby, yeah!
Reply:To quote the Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy: the USA is a country where straight teeth in your mouth are more important than the words that come out of them.
Reply:They just didn't drink enough milk on their childhood.
Reply:FIRST TELL ME WHAT IS GOOD IN THEM ????????????????????

AND THEN ASK FOR THE BAD
Reply:Well, in my oppinion, their teeth issues are mainly caused by a very often consumed british combination: FISH AND CHIPS which may cause due to triggering a chemical reaction when in contact with saliva extreme cases of toth decay. What do you think of that, huh??
Reply:Good one 'moreacidthanalkaline' I'll have to remember that quote!

I think it's because a lack of decent dental care. It's expensive and the working class can't afford it. The US also puts Fluoride in many city water systems and this helps guard against tooth disease (cavities).

Also, the American society tends to be more "physically" oriented then Britain.
Reply:Americans put alot of emphasis on hygiene that the British do not.
Reply:French people also have bad teeth. But not all french and british people have bad teeth. Some of them actually have good genes and some of them take care of their teeth.
Reply:What a load. In the UK most people get free dental care especially those under the age of 16. Have you seen the condition of some Americans teeth i dont think there is that much difference. Never seen extreme makeover and the lovely choppers the Americans have on that before they are veneered within an inch of there life. I have lived in the UK all my life and never once had a Pakistani dentist. But hey stereotypes never get old do they???
Reply:I don't think thats quite true you haven't met all 58 million of us,yes we do pay privately, and free to under 18, but there are people who find it difficult to get a dentist( like every one in the US has nice teeth lol)

Are your teeth your own, course they are you paid for them yourself! We too like nice teeth, but not the plastic looking false American ones.
