Is it good or bad?Tell me all that you know about wisdom teeth!?

I went to a dentist to pull a bad tooth, she said that my wisdom teeth are growing earlier ( I was15), I haven't experienced any pain or something like that. But I want to know all about these teeth and someday do I have to pull them out or not? Please tell all that you know about these wisdom teeth! Thank you!

Is it good or bad?Tell me all that you know about wisdom teeth!?
In most people, not all(creationists), wisdom teeth are vestiges of our predatory past. 1/2 the population does not grow mandibles long enough to support complete eruption of the 3rd molars(wisdom teeth). Wisdom teeth are crowded in the back. Often they erupt partially or completely sideways; sometimes off to the side, rendering them useless. This 'lack of growth' has been attributed to evolution and so on, but is more likely due to a change in the modern diet, to softer foods(or the rath of GOD).

In evaluating your case you need to consider several factors. have you seen the the dentist every six months since you were 4 years old? ( are they flouridated brom regular flouride exosure) Do you brush and floss even between the second and third molars? (likely ness to develop Decay) And most importantly are your wisdom teeth going to erupt into function. (or are they sideways) Do you take care of them.

Keeping your wisdom teeth (cest need to know) When wisdom teeth cause problems it is usually problems to the teeth in front. Lack of cleansability and difficulty in flossing make the second molars vulnerable to early failure. So the typical patient is left with a relativley useless 3rd molar back there and a big hole where the s econd molar was. Furthermore the poor alignment and position make the wisdom tooth a poor cadidate for a bridge or denture rest. Fortunately advances in implant placement are making bridges a less attractive treatment option.

The bottom line Wisdom teeth should come out. They are hard to maintain. They cause problems, Rarely are they in useful function. If you don't see your dentist regularly then really, get them out of there. See your dentist.
Reply:my 4 out at 12
Reply:I still got mine! I'm afraid if they take them out I will become less wise.
Reply:no use, take the off, i too took them off at 15 as i had them both infected, now i am 40 hardly missed them
Reply:They do cause pain and overcrowding of other teeth. It just depends if they bother you are not to have them pulled. I had to have mine pulled because I didn't want my teeth to become crooked after spending money on braces but more importantly my whole jaw hurt all the time. It's really not that bad to get them taken out and I had surgery to remove mine since they weren't coming through yet.
Reply:Wisdom teeth generally come in around age 19. If there is room in your mouth for them, that is fine. But if there is no room, they will crowd your other back teeth and cause pain. And if they are crowding, this causes their roots to grow crooked, and crooked roots are hard to pull out, so sometimes they must cut them out in surgery.
Reply:Some people still have their wisdom teeth. It is okay to keep them as ong as they don't overcrowd your teeth and cause pain. To extract them requires oral surgery and is usually done with general anesthesia in a few hours and you're on your way home. You'll have to ask your dentist to elaborate since she was the one looking at your particular anatomy. I've had mine pulled as have my Mom, 2 older sisters and one brother (Mom around age 50, everyone else around age 23). But many people I know still have theirs with no problems. It depends on the person. "You're welcome!"
Reply:let me tell u how wisdom teeth r pulled out. my sis went 2 sum place 2 get her wisdom teeth pulled out..she had 2 be put 2 sleep and then she woke up her mouth was lyk "kanye west".lol thru the wire. i hope u feel better tootles!
Reply:Many time they do not have room to erupt fully and require surgical removal. Their position at the back of the mouth makes hygiene difficult and they become carious. They are a throwback to a time they had a use like the appendix.
Reply:I had mine out at about your age. They were mildly impacted. I believe impaction is the criteria most dentists use, as impaction can cause your other teeth to push out of position, causing dental, bite and jaw problems.

If your wisdom teeth are not impacted or cavity-filled, they may not need to come out. Ask your dentist about that.
Reply:wisdom teeth are like extra teeth in our mouth. So people never has to worry about them coz they never break the gums. If they do break the gums and grow in...you will need oral surgery to remove them...due to they will become very painful if not!
Reply:I had all of mine pulled about 5 years ago when i was 33yrs old!! they were sore and felt like i was teething!! it started to affect my sinuses and give me lots of pain, i felt soooooooooooo much better once i had them removed!! The surgery was fine (I was knocked out) and the pain wasn't too bad as I was given great meds to help me, the only really bad thing that happened to me was I had a small bruise on one of my cheeks, where the doctor was holding it, no big deal.
Reply:The reason they pull wisdom teeth is because a lot of times they are located so far back on the jaw that they are not taken care of and rot. Also, they sometimes can push the other teeth out of aliegnment and make them crooked. That depends on your jaw and tooth space. My Dentist was telling me I've needed mine out for years and can't tell me why they have to come out. They are not rotting and they are not messing up my teeth. After I turned 45 he finally said "Never mind, you won't do it anyway" and doesn't bring it up anymore. You could wait and see what happens or go ahead and do it. Make sure your toothbrush can reach those teeth way in the back.
Reply:Okay, your dentist told you your wisdoms are coming in. Yes, you should get them pulled (ASAP), because when they're coming in depending on the roots position, it can be very painful and besides they serve no purpose whatsoever, and eventually captures food and gives you bad breath and on top of that, your tooth brush can't completely clean them. But if you can, be strong and get them out before they begin to hurt, because once that begins, you may then have to have them surgically removed.
Reply:If they are growing normally and there is enough space in your mouth for them don't take keep 'em, but if not and if leaving them will ruin the shape of your teeth, it is better to take them out. I took 2 of them out at 16 and left the other 2 coz they're not bothering me... And i blv there's no use for them so keeping them or not is not an issue... But for a better opinion check with your dentist...
Reply:If the wisdom teeth have enough space to grow and it grows in the right direction (not pushing any other teeth in ur mouth), it should be alright if you dont have it pulled out. Otherwise, you better have the doctor to remove it because if you dont, not only it would cost you a lot of pain when it's coming up, but also it will make its own space by pushing the next teeth to it and it will ruin the whole structure of your teeth. You wont have a nice and straight teeth formation.

Mine are not removed. I wish I had them removed couple of years ago.
Reply:Damn wisdom teeth, damn damn them!

They gave me the pain of my life! Mine showed up early too, but they take time to grow fully. So, they may be waiting to hurt you sometime later.

I have 3 wisdom teeth fully grown now. And two of them hurt me to death. Last year I got the last one. It hurt so much, I never remember having such a toothache. It felt like someone was hammering my head. My face was swollen also. And pain started in the weekend, I called my dentist and he said I should take painkillers. Painkillers worked little for me. And on Monday when I went to see him, he said it was also infected so he gave me antibiotics. He said he can't treat it without the infection gone. Anyways, I also had two injections. I had some pain even after the infection, but now it's ok.

The other one was ingrown. Actually, it grew horizontally! And I had to get a surgery to have it pulled out. Again, the pain almost killed me.

Only one of my wisdom tooth didn't cause any problem. The other two made me think I was dying.

So, all I can say about them is they are mean!
Reply:most people tell painful widom teeth story's.I never had pain with mine.they were taken out just because they can move the rest of your teeth
Reply:my wisdom teeth came in and were pulled out(all 4) with in 2 weeks, but i had a small gap between my front teeth and i was grateful that my wisdom teeth was able to push them together before i had them pulled out.So if you have any spaces ,let your wisdom teeth do the work for you, but if you have good teeth already, be careful cause the wisdom teeth can crowd them and make them croked. Good Luck ; )
Reply:If your wisdom teeth are growning in straight and now crowding your molars, you can just leave them alone. Often, though, they will either grown crooked , sometimes sideways! They may never break through the gums at all, which is known as impacted or semi-impacted.

Some dentists advise you to have them out, even if they dont seem to be a problem. I feel that as long as there is room for them, and they are effecting your bite, you can let them be.
Reply:Not everyone will need there wisdom teeth pulled. If you have room in your mouth and they are coming in correctly they can do just fine. However if they come in horizontally or if they are angled so that they cannot or will not come in on their own you may need them removed.

Always easier to have them removed while you are young then to wait until they become bothersome. Most xray will show early on if there may be a problem in the future.

Some folks are not ever going to get them.(on the whole we no longer need them and as such they are not developing)Ahh evolution is progress.

Hopefully this was helpful.
Reply:There are 32 teeth in a normal mouth.

Wisdom teeth are the first molars on the upper and lower arch.

In Dental terms they are known as #1, #16, #17, and #32.

The problem most people run into with wisdom teeth is that there mouth isn't quite large enough to accommodate the full set of 32 teeth.

when the #1, #16, #17 and #32 molars are ready to develop they come in in awkward positions fighting to enter the best way they can develop given the limited room they have. As a result their position is less than desired in most cases.

In a lot of cases it is important to have them removed so that the awkward development doesn't interfere with the normal development of the rest of the teeth.

You for sure don't want to cause a shift in the other teeth have already enjoyed proper development.

I was a Dental man in the U.S Navy from 1978-1981.

The Lead Oral Surgeon who was a Commander and quite experienced in this field made the call that my wisdom teeth needed to be removed.

After reviewing my full set of X-Rays I determined that they didn't.

I took this matter the Commanding Officer, which in this case was a Captain and upon further review, my position was given the nod and as a result I still have my wisdom teeth today.

Consider another win for the Gipper cause it's not very often an Enlisted Man is given the green light when an officer of this Commander's stature has made a call.
Reply:You will need to get them taken out. If you wait to long it will hurt really bad. How they do it is they put you to sleep and then they crack the tooth and it splits into four parts. They pull each of the parts out. If however it has grown all the way in they have to pull it and it hurts a lot worse.
Reply:Most of the time they need to be removed, some of the time they don't.
Reply:I still have mine, so I don't realy know.
Reply:I honestly, sincerely recommend you to pull them out sometime before they get cavities cause beleive ME! I just got my last wisdom tooth out last thursday cause it got cavities beleiving that it would stay there forever. My dentist told me that these teeth arent very useful, that usually your toothbrush doesnt get to those hard to reach places and thats why they get sooner or later cavities. The good thing is that they arent huge molars with four roots I think they only have two roots so your healing process will be faster depending on how your health is at the time of extraction. So good luck!!!
Reply:i think that you shouldnt have to have a bad tooth even if it is a wisdom tooth so you should get it pulled ttly
Reply:They hurt like a monkeys uncle.... but i guess they make u smart right?
