Bad teeth in the army?

I have had a fear of the dentist for a while now, and my teeth aren't in top shape. A few cavities, nothing rotting or falling out, but not in the best condition. Will i still be able to pass MEPS and get into the army? Please no stupid comments or joking, I just want a knowledgeable answer to help me out. Thanks in advence

Bad teeth in the army?
You won't have any problems passing meps, and regaurdless of what everyone else says, they won't fix your teeth in basic unless you're a dental cat 4, so you'd have to have some pretty messed up teeth. If they're causing you pain, you can always go to dental sick call and they'll take care of them. You'll probably have to wait untill you get to your first duty station though, and again unless you're a dental cat 4 or worse, no one is going to track you down and tell you to fix your teeth. Thats somthing you have to manage on your own, getting your cleanings done, getting your cavities taken care of ect.
Reply:They will take care of you.
Reply:They may take you, then send you to the Army dentist during basic. I don't think you want to go overseas with teeth that might cause a toothache.
Reply:yes they have army dentists that will take care of your teeth for you. My husband is in the Airforce and he had a cavity not to long ago and they made him go to the dentist on base and get it fixed, but it's paid for by them. You will be fine and good luck.
Reply:oh yes you will

of course they will want you to go to the dentist

brave enough to risk your life in service of our country

You can handle it just pay extra for the gas

I just know you can do it!
Reply:The army will fix your teeth. They have a rating system and you can't get out of basic training without a favorable rating. My son was pushed through dental so he could leave basic. Certain ratings also place you into undeployable status. My son went to the dentist for a toothache and the dentist placed him in an undeployable status. He got orders and decided to stay quiet because he is truly someone to be proud of.....
Reply:Yes, you will be able to pass MEPS.

the military will take care of your dental problems.

take advantage of all of that.. dental , medical, schooling.

Remember to save as much money as you can while your

enlisted.

Good luck. and Thank you.
Reply:oh yes I would not worry they will take care of your teeth by the time you are done with basic you are going to have a smile trust me they love bad teeth that's how all the dental techs and doc's get there training have fun.
Reply:yes , my husband is in the army and when he joined he had and still has quite a few bad places that need work. i would definatley take advantage of the free dental though while your in training and when you get stationed. Good Luck!!!!!
Reply:I knew a guy in basic with some jacked up teeth. I promise you, you're in no worse shape than he was. And, not only will they accept you, any dental problems you have will be fixed by the time you leave basic training, all on the military's dime.
Reply:Yes. They will clean your teeth and such at your first duty station. No big deal, if they aren't in too bad a shape.

However, unless things have changed, they don't fix your teeth in basic training if you are a reservist. I didn't even get a cleaning, just an X-ray. On active duty they took pretty good care of me though.
Reply:They will take you and give you free dental service.

When I was in Basic Training, a guy in my squad received more dental care in two weeks than he received in his life prior to entering the Army.

I found the dentists and dental technicians in the Army to be very competent. It is not the same as going to a high-priced civilian dentist, but you do get quality care.
Reply:The Army will take care of your teeth especially if they deploy you. They don't want anyone over there with tooth problems. You should pass MEPS and they should take care of you teeth and correct the problems.
Reply:They will take good care of you. Just make sure you get a good and HONEST dentist. I work at a dentist office and we had new patients that have come and told us their teeth are in the best of shape but when we get in there and look....they aren't. Have no fears about going to the dentist.....they are fun to talk to and to hang out with. Best of luck to you!!! God bless America and her troops!!
