Is wet dog food bad dogs teeth?

I recently got a Shi Tzu, Yorkie mix. When we got it the breeder said not to feed it wet food. So, it was raised on all natural dry dog food.

We also have two other dogs and feed then wet dog food in the morning, and leave for the two dogs dry dog food so they can eat it when ever. However, the Shi Tzu has been getting in the wet dog food, (looks likes he enjoys it.)

So, we decided that we would look in to getting some all natural wet dog food and mixing it with his dry stuff. However, I also hear that wet dog food is bad for their teeth, is that true, even if it’s all natural dog food?

Please give me what you think, if I should or shouldn't.

I've also heard that wet dog food isn't the best for dogs. They say that the dry dog food is better to help clean their teeth and keep them in good shape.
Reply:Dry dog food is better in general because as they chew, the food helps scrape stuff off of their teeth (like a tooth brush) keeping them healthier longer. Wet food is not necessarily bad, but you'd have to brush or do something else to keep his/her teeth clean.
Reply:it isn't that wet dog food is bad for a dog's teeth it just is not good for them. when a dog bites into a piece of dry dog food it helps to clean the tarter off of his or her teeth, because wet food is soft there is no way for the tarter to be removed. You could probably get away with feeding your dog wet food if you are willing to brush his teeth everyday however, most owners do not realistically do this. Your best bet is to feed your dog dry food and use the wet food as a treat if he seems to enjoy it that much.
Reply:i think small breds of dogs tend to get smelly breath also if they only have wet dog food.

Try giving them raw chicken necks occassionally,it helps to clean their teeth.
